“Nattys” The 2014 Toyota Nationals were held in Aston,Virginia. My team, the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies, was there to compete in the u16 age group. I was 15 years old at the time playing with others on my team that are 16 and 17 years old. Our first game of the tournament was against Dallas Penguins. The game was tough, mean, and bloody, and they played better than us that game. Dallas beat us 5-2 our first game. The mood on the bus was very negative and quite. No one wants to lose their first game of the most important tournament. We did not know what to expect for the rest of the tournament. We were already lost. We all thought we were going to get sent home early. But we were determined and willing to never give up. Later that day we …show more content…
And all the hard work through the season is finally paying off. We’ve had our ups and downs this season and I want to let you boys know that you are my favorite team I have been with. This is the final brick left, all you boys have to do is stack it”. Right before the National Anthem they call the starting line up. I was second to be called.
“Roman Kinaaaaaal” they announced and the crowed cheered.
As the National Anthem was being sung I look to my dad, in the far back by himself, and give him a nod like I do before every game. The game starts and we were right, it was a war. The game was 3-2 we were losing going into the third. And then we score a goal, by my defence partner Scott. We were tied 3-3 with five minutes left. That gave us some life back. I look up at the clock and it's counting down fast. It says three minutes left in the game. As i'm looking up Brandon, my teammate, skates down the sideboard and shoots top shelf. The buzzer goes off. We score! It was 4-3 and everyone was out of their seats. I look up at the clock one more time, The clock looked tired because of how slow it counted down. We try to hold them off as best we can. I look up one more time.
“5,4,3,2,1” the crowd counts
With the Christmas tournament aside, we entered the post-season without a loss. We had a plan for each playoff game from districts to regional. We never deviated from the plan, keeping our eye on the target –
Then tennis just started to get intense, I had to practice for two hours a day on weekdays. When it was Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I had to run two miles just for a warm up, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays we had to do a one mile indian run. I couldn’t have waited much longer to start my first actual tennis practice. The first day was fun because we did a lot of drills that we didn’t learn during open court and we did an actual match against our own team. Near the end of the first practice, Walters called us over and we had a meeting about assigning our double partners and that they will be testing out random people to see who has the best synergy together. The next day came and I got paired with someone named Vincent, he was the rank right
I took a deep breath. It was the big championship game and we had 10 minutes left on the clock and the score was 10-7 we were down by 3. We had 3 runners on the base and 2 outs I was on deck and Brooke was up to bat. I pulled her over to the side and said “you got this were only down by three and I got your back. We have no outs so take your time and hit the ball.” Brooke said “ok thanks and we got this”. The pitcher threw the ball and Brooke hit the ball. It went straight down the 3rd base line. She got a single and now the score was 10-8, I was up. The pitcher through one right down the middle I hit a line drive right to center field and got a double, MG was running home as fast as lightning and slid into home barely making it. The game was
It all started at the beginning of tryouts. The week of excitement and nervousness. Everyone was already making guesses on who was gonna be on the team. Then so it started, the first day was pretty easy and so was the next. The third was conditioning day, which was the worst. Then the last two days were fairly easy too. But those days were the most nerve racking. Those were the days when the cuts were made.
I was ready. This was how we were going to start off the season. Everyone was ready, thinking this was it. We wanted to be the best team on the ice. The coaches came into the room saying, “Let’s go, boys. Let’s start the season off on fire . . . big win today!”
Still to this day, the memories of that summer and those state and regional tournaments reside in my head like they happened just last week, and those are the best kind of
So I finished the first game of the soccer tournament and my team won. My family and I decided to celebrate the first win by going out to see downtown St. Louis. I said to my parents “Hey we should go to the St. Louis arch it's not far away and we can get food there ”. Since I was after the game. My mom says “That's a great idea get me the directions there”. So I started typing in the directions on my phone and it said 15 minutes to destination. I told my dad who didn’t want to go “its 15 minutes away from here”. My dad said ”Let's go back to the hotel and you and your brother can go to the pool”. So after a whole argument with him I finally convinced him to go. So I gave him the phone with the directions and said “Don’t forget i'm still hungry”
That feeling felt even better during a real game in front of of many people! It happened my 9th grade year, when i went to central. The game
What seemed like a normal day, Saturday, December 8, 2012, turned out to be anything but normal. I had a full day of soccer planned, and for me, that wasn’t anything new. I was competing for a spot on the North Carolina ODP (Olympic Development Program) soccer team.
The crisp November air wrapped around me as a I walked out onto the Field Hockey turf in the Semi-finals of the State Tournament. The stakes were high, and my nerves were beginning to kick in. My team of 20 girls strided over to the bench knowing we had to give it our all, it was either win and continue on or lose and be eliminated. As we stood around stretching we reflected on our hard work for the season and praised one another for all we had accomplished. My team became my family, I wanted to win for them, play to my fullest capability for them, and most of all win for my seniors who feared it was their last game ever. We were underestimated throughout the season despite our rank of second in the state. Despite all the negativity, there
We were playing in Fort Dodge and the varsity game had just gotten over. My friend Jaeda and I played on all three teams, my freshman year. That meant we started the night playing JV, then went and played varsity, and finished up the night playing a quarter or two or freshman. This particular night, the varsity and freshman played at two different gyms. That meant, Jaeda and I had to get a ride over to the freshman gym on the bus. After the varsity game ended, we
We won most of our games and we moved up a level. Today was our last game and we weren’t planning on losing it. We were all thinking about it the entire day, well that least I was. This game meant a lot to me. This season was great I improved a ton and I really found my love for the sport. As I said my team was doing great and we didn’t want to end on a bad note.
There was two minutes left on the clock. We were up 30 to 27. The other team in bounced the ball. I was guarding number 18. I saw the opportunity to grab the ball from him and try to put this game into the history books. Yes! I grabbed it and ran down court. I was about 20 feet from the basket. Then I felt a hand on the ball. It was number 18. I was so shocked that I dropped the ball. He took it and managed to score. I wasn't to happy.
I went to Siga prefecture and stayed three days there in this summer. So I had baseball tournament. The first day, my team had first game and won.
Going into the tournament we knew we were going to face tougher and talented teams. We started out great winning both of our games then we had a tough challenge the third game. This game was to get into the championship, if you lost you still had a chance because both teams were undefeated and it was double elimination. The whole game we were going back and forth with the other team till the second half when
