I had the pleasure of interviewing Pedro Castillo. He is seven years old, Cuban, and is in Ms. Neer’s first grade class. Despite English he is one of the few students in his class that is above average, he is reading at a second grade level. To begin with, I asked him why he would want to use technology in learning. He eagerly answered, “it’s fun.” He later stated that he loves to play games and learn at the same time and that using technology was more exciting, interesting and more vivid than learning using books, expo-boards, and paper. Furthermore, after I finished conducting the question, I was not surprised by his response. He was able to show my some of his favorite educational games and I could see why it is fun and most importantly
Secondly, children and teens are able to use devices for entertainment as well. Monifa McKnight, School Principal of Ridgeview Middle School, said, “Technology made learning fun and
Technology of the past 20 years has become a focal point of teaching and learning. As a teacher, it is my job to facilitate the learning for an individual by creating an environment that not only conducive for learning, but also places the child in a position to discover and learn them for themselves. Technology has given teachers to opportunity to take learning beyond the classroom, and has begun to reshape their role in the learning process.
Currently, educators are faced with the controversy of reaching all learners. It is the incumbency of educators to master differentiating instruction to create a possibility for all learners to grow. Technology is a great resource to keep students engaged and motivated. It prepares them for their future, yet reaches the diversity of learning styles.

Interviewing someone you know may be a more easier with than someone you do not know. In this case, I interviewed my friend Matthew Guerrero. He is a sophomore here at Washburn. Matthew's background is different than mine because he is Hispanic and grew up with his married parents and his one brother. That differs from my background because I grew up with divorced parents going back and forth between the two every weekend. I also grew up a bit different because there is a total of eight kids in my family. I chose to interview Matthew because even though we both have two very different life's we are very similar. I think it is interesting how we had complete opposite lives growing up but we both are almost boy-girl version of each other and
One grand adventure that I went on this summer was a missions trip to the Dominican Republic. It was probably the best two weeks of my life and not a day goes by that I don’t think about it and want so badly to go back. I didn’t always have those feelings though… The first couple days were pretty rough from lack of sleep, being in a totally new environment in a country I have never been before, being way out of comfort zone and being slightly home sick. The first full day at our site I nearly had a panic attack because I just couldn't get over the language barrier and that was the first time I have ever worked with kids. I just felt so helpless and that I was’t showing these kids God’s love. But I was because just being there for them showed them God’s love.
“The choice is not whether or not you want to move but with who you'll be moving with” she replied.
The second to last class and I was starting to feel it. This class went by so fast I couldn’t believe it! I was excited, but a little scared for today. I was excited to go see the Upper East Side and see the park of Central Park that I have never seen before, but I was also scared because we were going to Harlem and I heard not so nice things about this neighborhood from my neighbor who is a cop in Harlem, but at the same time I was still excited to see a new neighborhood I have never seen before.
Did you know the definition of “playing” means “To participate in an activity or exercise for amusement or recreations.” As a child exploring the streets of Philadelphia I loved to play. I could spend hours outside or inside of my house playing. The scraps and bruises from playing outside taught me essential life lessons of the physical world we lived in. On the other hand sore eyes and cramped fingers from hours of surfing the World Wide Web, taught me about a new era of the internet that was taking over the world. Looking back over my childhood years, I am thankful for my traditional and technological way of “playing”; these two tools guided me through a successful childhood. I had always felt that traditional learning and technological learning equally played a huge part in my life, until I came across an article called “Babes in a
Moving to another country is something that for the majority of people it might be a challenge. The toll of cultural defiances, unfamiliar traditions, society, and language are the most important and consternating struggles that people faced. But changes occur every minute, every second, and everywhere. Changes bring doubt, fear, and even pain to most people. But changes are something that I always look forward to because they alter my perspectives on things. Changes remind me of unpleasant memories, but also about learning experiences. The question of why here and not there, was something that I answered 6 years ago.The answer lied in a series of actions and childhood memories. My life is separated into two geographic locations. The first
From my very first observation I could tell that technology played a huge role in Ms. Felder-Way’s classroom. She found ways to integrate technology into almost every lesson. All of the students were assigned Chromebooks which were purchased by the district. In the classroom there was a SMART Board, two desktop
Students are routinely connected with technology participating in social media and games where they acquire and apply their knowledge collaboratively. Their time is being spent more in social networking sites, multimedia, and virtual environments that are highly engaging and many times encourages creative thinking and problem solving.
I saw roofs and walls made up of rusted sheet metal, market stands with 9 year old merchants, and single room homes transformed into makeshift shops ran by single mothers of five, six, or even seven kids, barely making enough money to survive. In the summer of 2016 I left the United States as a sheltered teenager, unaware of the struggles and conditions too many families are up against in third world countries. I was fortunate enough to have traveled to Guatemala City, Guatemala with my church's student ministry program on a mission and outreach trip. I returned with my eyes opened to diversity, a realization of my life's calling, and an experience of spiritual maturity that transformed me into adulthood.
So they had finally found out where Omar is setting up a deal with weapons . So James went into the hide out and made Ben to stay in the car. So 20 minutes went by and James never came back to the car . So Ben went to see if James needed help , it turned out that he did .So Ben had pretend to be the Omar then the real Omar had shown him self for the first time . Then they all started shooting , James and Ben had left to the hospital because been had got shot . So 40 minutes went by and Ben had got a phone from James sister because she was in trouble . So James had told Ben what happened then Ben had got up off the bed so he can save her. So they took someone's car and made it to Ben’s apartment .James had ook out four of Omar’s minions while
Education has found its way into the loop of technology. Teachers are using ipads and laptops during class time to help conduct experiments, or share a presentation. This is allowing the students to gain instant access to the information they are seeking. Students also receive the opportunity to complete their homework online and print off their assignments instead of just using paper and pencil. Another pro for Technology in Education, there are countless sources out there which help enhance learning. In one research conducted, they compared the performance of teaching kids how to read a clock. One group was coached by an online app, another was shown by a toy clock, and the last group was trained by a drawing example. The results revealed that the children that were taught by the toy and app exceeded the paper drawing group (Galetzka).
