Knowledge of Students In my observations I did find some evidence that Ms. Felder-Way knew the individual students. She remembered that one student had recently spoken at a school assembly and complimented him on having an excellent voice. During that time the class was writing an essay and she told the student that he needed to transfer that voice into his writing. Once she reminded him of that his introduction to his essay was great. Ms. Felder-Way also knew which of her students participated in the after-school tutoring program. She wanted them to use the strategies that they learned in the program to help them solve math problems. Although there was some evidence of knowledge of individual students, I believe that Ms. Felder-Way could’ve known more about the students. I observed that some of the students struggled with certain activities while others had no problems. If she had more knowledge of the individual students it could’ve affected those student’s content learning. I don’t believe that she takes the knowledge of her students into account in terms of design of the classroom, culturally relevant pedagogy, or to inform instruction.
Use of Technology From my very first observation I could tell that technology played a huge role in Ms. Felder-Way’s classroom. She found ways to integrate technology into almost every lesson. All of the students were assigned Chromebooks which were purchased by the district. In the classroom there was a SMART Board, two desktop
Technology of the past 20 years has become a focal point of teaching and learning. As a teacher, it is my job to facilitate the learning for an individual by creating an environment that not only conducive for learning, but also places the child in a position to discover and learn them for themselves. Technology has given teachers to opportunity to take learning beyond the classroom, and has begun to reshape their role in the learning process.
Misty has incorporated many types of technology into her 6th grade classroom. Her students use Edmodo and Google Apps daily to collaborate and create projects. Misty continually teaches and reminds her students how to be digital citizens that respect others and cite sources when used. She also uses a plethora of websites that students can access from home or school to practice skills. Misty knows how to advance student achievement by maximizing technology as a formative assessment tool so she knows where each of her students are in their learning and what skills need to be retaught.
The Board of Education for the Rowan Salisbury Schools are fully aware of how twenty-first century technologies can affect the manner in which our teachers teach and our students learn. It is the goal of the district to provide a safe and nurturing atmosphere that is technologically rich. Providing every student and employee with access to these tools is meant to enhance and improve the learning experience that will ultimately improve the academic achievements of all of our students. The use of the District’s resources are not a right, but come with responsibilities for proper care and use of all district owned technology. The Board also reserves the right to place restrictions on the proper care and use of its devices.
The biggest problem with today’s education is how rapid technology is advancing. So rapid, in fact, that schools are attempting to keep up, but are sadly falling short. Teachers are being required to incorporate new technology into their everyday methods of teaching. The use of IPads or laptops in classrooms can be helpful to both teachers and students(edreform online classes)”. If a teacher is not overly familiar with the new devices, then the students will lose what little time they have to learn. As a teacher is attempting to fix technical problems in one class, the class that has a tech savvy teacher will be advancing far ahead. On the other hand, if a classroom is full of students who are very unfamiliar with the technology will have to be taught how to operate it, which wastes valuable time. In today’s society technology usage is so much more widespread than it was just five years ago. The new toys can allow schools to broaden their curriculum. Since most work can be done on a single device, kids can work at their own pace and potentially reach heights they could never reach with book, pen, and paper. The benefits of this new tech greatly outweigh the downsides. The biggest problem with technology in classrooms is their lack of use. So few schools have jumped on board with these programs, and therefore are holding their kids back. These products are readily available, but “the use of new technology
This allowed the students to feel confident in what materials they were working on. I personally believe that confidence is key in for a student. This is where Mrs.Rivera really shined.
Thesis Statement: The author elicits the idea that technology integrated into the classroom in many ways and forms regardless of financial restraints on districts is beneficial to the
Technology is a part of most classrooms whether it is used in a lesson, homework assignment, extra practice on material or projects. Mrs. A uses technology as a part of her lessons by creating interactive PowerPoints. She uploads all of her material to google classrooms, where all her students can access it, edit or add additional notes, check their overall average
Mrs. Messina individualized with every student. She talked to every student about being able to understand the subject or not. And if they are struggling she would help the student improve in that subject. Therefore,
Technology has dramatically influenced our modern day culture in several ways; we now operate completely different compared to the past. In fact, it can be shown in many tasks that we very rarely complete a simple operation without the use of technology. For example, washing dishes, heating food, doing our homework, and even communication are all examples of how technology has evolved simple tasks. Even furthermore, technology has changed the way education has been taught and received in American classrooms. However, technology was not always so highly advanced in American schools. In fact, a classroom in the 1950’s had little to no technology; one would find blackboards, chalk, handouts, and quite possibly a film-strip projector. However, even the “advancement” of a film-strip projector required much work, due to the fact that many teachers were obligated to travel great distances to retrieve a film-strip for the projector (Cuban, Larry). On the contrary, things have significantly changed in the 21st century American classroom. In truth, it is extremely common to see laptops, televisions, and other cutting-edge technology in a significant amount of today’s public schools. Although the evolution of technology within the classroom has created several conflicting ideas and opinions, technology is actually continuing to increase in classrooms every day and does not seem to decrease any time soon. Unsurprisingly, technology has drastically changed the way American classrooms
There is a trend at Carmel High School that many, including Sean Bradford, may have noticed. There has been an increasing integration of technology and online services in and outside the classroom. “Today we used the laptops, and our phones in a project, ‘conflicts in different worlds: Darfur (a country)’ ”, says Sean a sophomore at CHS, “we had to use Google Slides to make a slideshow to explain what's happening in Darfur.”
The teacher used technology to engage the students into the activity. Using technology with this age group help them want to learn a lot more. I believe the technology helps the students, with being more involved in the class and in the lesson.
In 2016 a high school Nampa implemented the use of one on one devices into their everyday learning. With these devices came the ability to expand not only the knowledge of students but the very way that teachers were able to teach them. Over time the awe of having these devices faded and students were left trying to balance the use of devices and actually being taught. Due to some of these reasons schools should understand the benefits of technology, come up with plans on how they’ll limit the amount of time spent using the devices, and whether they will continue using old-fashion methods.
Technology has revolutionized the human experience by changing the way one learns. Technology can best be defined as a tool that supports and promotes human learning. This can be seen through the usage of calculators, tablets (example: iPad), Smart Boards, video cameras, and, of course, the computer. These are all innovations that can have a profound impact on classroom learning. Although there are some schools that have a strict policy that technology should be removed from the modern day classroom, other schools believe that integrating technology into the classroom helps prepare our students for the elaborate world they will face going forward. Throughout this essay, I will be focusing on the technology policy and how it has a positive
The focus of the Chromebook program at Frelinghuysen Middle School is to provide tools and resources for the 21st century Learner. Excellence in education requires that technology is seamlessly integrated throughout the educational curricula. Increasing access to technology is essential to build upon college and career readiness skills. The individual use of Chromebooks is a way to empower students to maximize their full potential and to prepare them for college and the workplace.
As we navigate through the 21st century, technology in the classroom is becoming further predominant. iPads are replacing our textbooks, and we can research any desired topic on our smartphones. The impact that technology has had on today’s schools has been utterly momentous. Educators have now seen firsthand the numerous benefits of technology in the classroom. According to a study by IT Trade Association CompTIA, around 75 percent of educators have come to the conclusion that technology has a positive impact on the education process. Educators have also recognized the significance of developing these technological skills in students so they will be prepared to enter the workforce after they graduate (Cox). By incorporating technology in the classroom, teachers are setting our students up for a successful life outside of school. The increase of technology has even changed how teachers teach along with how
