At the conclusion of my junior year of high school, I immediately began preparations for my final cross country season. By that point in my life, the only time I actually thought about baseball was when the New York Yankees were playing on television. Otherwise, I spent every day that summer either out running or thinking about running. I also spent a lot of time researching and reading about the history of running, different training methods, and ideas put forth by other coaches from around the world. During that summer, if someone had asked me what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, the answer would've been simple. I wanted to coach. Something else happened that summer that would ultimately lead me down a path towards my first coaching
It all started when i was in fourth grade. It all changed what inspired me came by whole big dream that i wanted to be successful at. I was at school just a normal day, and it was times to go to PE, and my coach got out a circular ball that i had never seen in my life. It was kinda colorful, it had some weird word written on it, but i couldn't see from where i was standing. My coach handed us each one of these balls, and coach called them volleyballs. My coach told us what to do and what not to do, so i was at this net, and just gave the ball a high five because that's what he said to do. Coach came over to me, and kinda directed me through and told me it was called a serve. That day i went home thinking about it, and i decided i want to do
Leadership is a key role in all team sports, if you don’t have the leadership odds are is that your not going to have good team chemistry and not an very good season as well. My junior year was a big time learning curve for myself, which is why I am writing this essay to you, to tell you why I believe that I am part of the cream of the crop for our football program.
Throughout my years I have changed what I wanted to do with my future over and over again. When I was young I wanted to be a doctor. Then, once I got a little older, I wanted to become a professional athlete. Soon after that I decided I was going to be a nurse, soon after that I wanted to become a teacher, and even after both of those I thought I was going to be a psychologist. It wasn't until I was a senior in high school that I realized that I could make a living doing a combination of almost all of those while working with something I loved my entire life. I could coach sports. Using the Bureau of Labor Statistics Outlook Handbook, I was able to understand what kind of salary to expect my first year full-time coaching, how many opportunities there would be in this field in the future, and if I would need any additional education to pursue those opportunities.
On this Saturday’s evening game, the baseball game was 2 teams in the championship game. The 2 teams that were facing were Pipe Creek (which was my team) and Mcadams the team we had to beat. Mcadams was the #1 seed and Pipe Creek was #2 seed, we were throwing back and forth and getting some practice before the game. Later we finally start the game. Pipe Creek was the Visitors and Mcadams was the home team. Pipe Creek was up to bat first and we scored 6 runs in the 1st inning.
My palms were sweaty as I began the process of gearing up for what was ahead of me. The many ideas of what I could possibly accomplish today were whirling around in my head. One beat up shin guard after another, I covered them with a crystal clear white sock to match the dark colored jersey. I took a deep breath lacing up my new cleats I’ve been longing to wear out. The talk from around me was not my focus at the moment, so I stood quietly and put in my ear buds.
How can my athltes recongnize that I am a Chrisitan Coach? Do you have a specific plan in place?
Well, let’s go back to where my whole career started. It was the beginning of my eighth grade year and I was new to East Wake Academy. I was scared of everybody and there were a few athletes who were being all nice to me and said I should try out for the middle school team. I was new to the school and didn’t think much of it until one of the coach’s actually told me that I should try out for
Throughout my lifetime, activities, events, and services that I am involved in have shaped me as a person. The one thing that I personally think has had the most impact on my character is being a soccer coach for Lil’ Kickers, it has given me qualities of leadership that will carry on throughout my entire life.
“Once you control the things you can control in your life, everything else will take care of itself.” My wrestling coach would tell me this before every match. This is one of the many things he would tell us that would help not only me but our entire team get mentally prepared for the task at hand. This is just one of the many things he did to enforce himself as the greatest leader in not only my life but the lives of others around me. What exactly makes a great leader? Is a great leader someone who is just good at everything? Not exactly. A great leader to me is someone who can influence others not only by their actions, but by their words.
My concern is the head coach we have for U9-10 kid pitch Unfortunately, I do not know his name because he has not addressed nor communicated with the parents. On the first practice, one of the kids' father (who has coached for the YMCA) started helping with the kids and started coaching because the head coach was not there. This is fine with me. I do know that he has baseball experience. The head coach has let the "assistant coaches", pretty much take over with coaching. The concern I have is my daughter is the only girl on the team. She chose to play baseball this season because she wants the challenge and plus she wants a trophy in all sports. Mr. Osborne, you and I both know, Deziray has determination, confidence, and play just as good as
It was a warm summer morning on August 28, 1998 when my mother went into Sioux Valley hospital to give birth to a baby boy. After an agonizing 15 hours in labor, I was born. They named me Bryce meaning “Nobel One.” My full name was Bryce Jay Edberg, I got this middle name after my father, which his middle name was also Jay. Being born at exactly 4:03 a.m., with a staggering 23 inch body and weighing 10 lb 4oz the delivery was nothing less then painful.
Yeah, Mr. Jack you’re right I’m late, not only by 5 minutes but 6 minutes. As you can see I’m sweating bullets since I just ran here. I was in the gym with Coach Travis, I was shooting on the gun taking it all in, the sparkling of the hardwood floor, the brightness of the lights, and the sound of the gun shooting the ball back to me. I was just doing my thing when all of a sudden I heard Coach Travis say something, “I would sauce you” are the exact words he said. As we all know Coach Travis is pretty good and it would be tough game, but I wasn’t going to just play it off like I didn’t hear it. I said Coach “You may be able to sauce with your Steph Curry handles, but I’ll drain threes in your eye.” I guess I really didn’t know what I was getting
To become an athletic trainer, one must complete courses such as Human Anatomy and Physiology as well as other courses that pertain to this major. These classes will help in learning how the body functions. I will also have to pass the Board of Certification exam and must be CAATE certified I could also volunteer at sporting events to get to know the environment around the players, coaches, and spectators from a non-athlete point of view. This could prove helpful because an athletic trainer will constantly be around sporting events and usually close to spectators, coaches, and players alike.
Leadership was a word I was not familiar with when I started playing high school softball as a freshman. As the season started I wasn’t even aware that I had a role until the assistant coach said every player has a specific role that will impact the whole team as it progresses. This opened up my mind and made me realize that although I was just a young player who still needs experience in high school games. I was still being relied on by my teammates and coaches on my specific job on the field and the classroom. Although I was frightened with the role I had, I was supported by my family
Have you ever had someone tell you that you were not good enough or that you will not accomplish anything in life? Well hearing those things can be the hardest to hear; especially when they come from your high school football coach. My coach was someone who was not respected by much of the team due to his attitude, personality, and coaching method. He was someone that I would not talk to often because it usually ended with him telling me that I suck or that I will be working at McDonalds my whole life because I will not go far. From these words that he said to me I was affected both positively and negatively. From the words that he said to me, I was able to learn that I could not let other people’s negative attitudes affect
