When it comes to my religious beliefs, I am Catholic and after taking this class Religious Imagination class with Professor Martin. I can say that I have gained new insight to the different religions that we have learned throughout the course of the class. This class really opened and broadened my perspective on different religions because never experience or even learned about these different religions before taking this class. The specific religions that I have gained insight on were Hinduism, Buddhism and Primal religion. Before taking this class I heard of these religions but I did not actually know what they were. Each Religion that we learned helped me is the amazing ways people believe in God. I found the Primal religion extremely interesting
I see language as a huge blessing. When utilized properly, it can encourage, teach, and help others. It can also be used to express ourselves to our core. To be able to reflect what is within our hearts, though, we must dive deep into emotions and language. Paired, they allow us to understand one another so that we can communicate and help each other through life, something that is definitely not meant to be done alone—which exactly explains why God gave us all community. With life being like an ocean, I truly believe that we cannot survive without God, first of all, and also without people. Because they are so important to me, I place emphasis on understanding how to properly use the English language so that I may glorify God, showing my thanks to Him with my every sentence whether it is verbal or written or thought. This portfolio, thus, is a reflection of my identity and journey with God—all constructed with language and emotions to portray my love for communicating with Him and His people. “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable inyour sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:14After being rescued by Him, I gained sight. I no longer saw the things around me and within me with a blurry lens; I took on the clearest lens, as though my eyes became cameras, to see things with truth. With this new vision and mindset, I began to see my own mistakes as well as those around me. Because of this, I understood what needed revision and what
Writing this Professional Project required some deep soul searching while deepening my spirituality to train the veterans of Tabernacle African Methodist Episcopal Church to become Disciples of Christ. Completing the nine training sessions will be beneficial for the congregation. A selection of a Steering Committee from the various boards within the church will assist me with the effectiveness of the Professional Project. Teaching the veterans about The Fruit of the Spirit will strengthen my spiritual walk with Christ as well. Each branch of the military has military core values and a comparison will be made with each Fruit of the Spirit during the training process. Presentations and workshops on The Fruit of the Spirit will undergird
One day back in the ‘80s. I’m at my desk working, and a little girl comes and climbs in my lap. Sweet, curious little girl. She’d asked a million questions about the phone I was answering, then looked at my pictures on my desk. I had pictures of my family in a frame, and in that frame I had a picture of Jesus. She pointed to those pictures, and asked who is that? I said, that’s my family. She said no, who is that man? I pointed to the picture of Jesus, and asked her are you talking about him? She said, “Yes”. I said that’s Jesus. Do you not know who he is, I asked? She answered, “No”. She asked if she could hold the picture. As she held it, she said “he looks like a nice man”.
My Spiritual journey has the themes of tragedy and God’s reaffirming presences in my life. I help individuals in my ministry and context to remember, reassure, and/or inform that God is still with them either through spoken word, presences or other art forms during heartbreak.
The name of my country is Felix. It is located near Austrailia. Many people in my country have been fighting over which country should be ours. As their leader I think we should be in Christianity religion because they read a book about God called the Holy Bible. They have over 2 million followers. They also have this big place where they worship called a church.
I became a Christian in 1982 while in high school. I had never attended church prior to Easter 1982. I found something interesting in the whole of the service and decided to read a Bible. The Bible made some sense to me. I had a few questions about some of the stuff that had happened and was given Evidence that Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell. Well that answered most of my questions. I was also given Mere Christianity which answered more questions. I felt convicted by the Holy Spirit and asked G-d to come into my life and forgive me of my sins.
Religious/Spiritual Identity(R): On any given day my own religious/spiritual identity hovers somewhere between atheist and agnostic. However, I was baptized and raised Catholic for the first eight years of my life and I went to church and Sunday school weekly. I made my first confession and communion through this church. When I was a little bit older my Mom decided to start taking us to a Presbyterian church. We went to this church less frequently than we used to go to the Catholic one, but my sister and I still attended a children’s bible study on Wednesday nights and went to services on Sundays with our mom. In addition to these religions, I am also fairly aware of how the Southern Baptist churches operate. In other words, I am familiar with
31.50% of the world is Christian. 22.32% of the world is Islamic. 0.20% of the world is Judaic. 13.95% of the world is Hindu. 5.25% of the world is Buddhist. 15.35% of the world is secular, nonreligious, agnostic, or atheist. 10.58% of the world is made up of other religions. I am among the 15.35% of the world that is secular, nonreligious, agnostic, or atheist. However, I identify as a religion called LaVeyan Satanism, which sprung up into our world on Walpurgisnacht in 1966 and was birthed by Anton Szandor LaVey.
I beleive I am very open to many religions because I have personally explored many throughout my 16 years of life. As well as my parents they did not baptize us because they wanted us to choose our own religion, they also believe in different things. I have never judged someone based off their religion because it's their life not mne but I also surround myself with people that don't judge me
These days I question God and all things above me. As a child, you are taught to follow in your elders footsteps, my role model was my Grandmother, a strong believer in the Christian faith. Growing up in Brooklyn, New York I've been faced with difficulties such as being molested, being bullied, and growing up without the support of my parents. Having to go to religious private schools since the age of five, while being forced to know the bible inside and out, corrupted my imagination. Every Sunday my Grandmother and I would visit a church where she was well respected and appreciated, unfortunately I overlooked spending the moments with her, listening to the pastor preach about infidelity, crooks, and the sufferings of third world countries. As I sat there firmly gripping the Bible the church provided, I began reciting in my head about life and what it has to offer, this is when I truly began to challenge the religion I was raised to blind fully accept.
Think of the best thing you have ever done, the thing that just makes you feel happy inside for doing it. Maybe you went on a mission trip and helped someone struggling in another country, or you secretly gave someone struggling some money to help them out, and you didn't do it for the recognition, or maybe you just did something as simple as making someone who was sad smile, and feel a little better. Regardless of what it is you made a big impact on that person or people. Some people do these things on their own, but if you are a Christian you probably did it because the Holy Spirit inside of you moved you to do it. The Holy Spirit, or also referred to as Christianity, is a powerful force that will always bring good to those who accept
Entering the building frantically, I walked into the doors of the school. I glanced around searching for a familiar face, but instead all I got were looks from people I’d never seen before. Strangers were staring at me suspiciously, as if I was up to no good. Of course, being the only muslim and wearing a hijab probably had something to do with it, but I walked down the hallways fearlessly until I saw my friend.
I study the bible , pray and worship God, it's my favorite thing to do every day, besides teaching everyone I know what I have learned from Gods word. I have two grown daughters from a previous marriage who inspire me always to continue in the word of God. I am blessed to be married for the last 25 yrs.
Once, while I was hiking Mount Marcy with my dad, in the Adirondack High Peaks Region in the High Peaks Wilderness Area of New York, we encountered a large beaver that was intent on chewing the tree directly on the side of the trail and thus partially prohibiting us from continuing on our journey.
My journey with God started in February of 1993, when I went to a ladies’ conference in Columbus, Texas. It was while the speaker was explaining that she knew there were some of us out in the audience, who felt guilty about something they had done in their past, and they did not feel that God could forgive them for it. But then she quoted from God’s word; “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, not principalities, no things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom 8:38-39 NASB) The speaker continued on to say that all we need to do is
