Over the summer of 2015, I drove to City Park to run in one of their many nature trails. I entered the trail focusing on my time, distance, and pace of my run; and not the beauty of the trails. The more I was on the trails the more I felt a part of all the vegetation surrounding me. Since these trails were marked by the City Park administration, I was able to read and learn about different plants, trees, and other foliage. I could also feel the cool breeze of the wind passing through the trees within the trails. This cool, gust of wind helped me enjoy my run and keep me cool while on the beautiful paths. At one point, the trail led me up hill for quite some time. Once I reached the top of the hill, my breath was taken away by view I
Most people are all grown up when they finally figure out what they want to do with their life. I was 4. I realized what I wanted to be when I attended my very first Rodeo. Even though it was so long ago I can remember that day like it was yesturday. That day got me on the path to my future.
I went out for the track team when I was in seventh grade. I enjoyed track because I enjoy running, jumping, and spending time with my friends. The track season was amazing because I learned to do the high jump. I had to learn how to time my steps and jump backwards. Did you know that long ago they would jump forward over the bar. Then a man named Dick Fosbury tried a different way, go over backwards, now this is called the “Fosbury flop” Which I think sounds like an ice cream cone of some sort but. I also had to learn the lingo. “Up” means it’s your turn to jump. “On deck” means you are next in line. “In the hole” means you are third to jump. It is important to stay in order, once at the Metamora track meet I thought they had called my name, I jumped and made it over the bar. but It was not actually my turn so I had to jump again, I wanted to give him a Well-that-was-your-fault-not-mine kind of look. Luckily, I made it over the second time also. Another meet I remember was when I jumped 4 feet 11in. I had no idea I was going to jump that high that day because it was cold and rainy. I was very surprised and I ended up winning that event that day. Since Micah was hurt and he normally beats me, I got first so I was happy. I participated in sectionals. I had to jump 5ft
When you parents tell you not to do something do you just do it anyways. Well I do and this time I think I learnt my lesson. It all started on a normal Saturday and we were gonna go on a hike, but none of us wanted to go somewhere so we just did it at home. We got our bags and water ready and busted for the trail. I thought it was gonna be a normal day and we would all have fun, but I got proved wrong. The trail itself is about three miles and a couple of extra steps, but with the surprise we only walked a mile of it.
Last year I started a new sport, cross country. I only did it because my lacrosse coach said that it might help me get better for lacrosse. So I went to the first late summer practice last year to see what this was like, so then we did warm-ups and a lap around the track. Then it was the first time I met coach Chase, My first impression of him was going to be very strict, But soon realized that this was false because of one of the first things he said. He said “I know there are a lot of nerves here right now, but cross country isn’t about winning every race, that comes later” then continued with “Cross country is about showing what you can do to yourself.” This struck me very hard because I was not that fast and was near the back. Through that fall the team did very well, I also made some progress myself. After the season was over I made a decision.
Cross Country is one of the hardest sports out there. That may be a biased opinion, but in my experience it is true. Only certain people are willing to put themselves through such physical and mental pain for a race that is less than 30 minutes. I am a very driven person. When I want to do something, I set a goal and I work towards it until I have achieved it. That’s why cross country is such a satisfying sport for me. It’s hard--harder than anything I’ve ever done--but it’s so much more rewarding when you look back and see how much progress you’ve made. Cross country may seem like an individual sport, and it can be, but to succeed, you need your whole team’s effort. I have learned that not everyone is as driven as I am. Few people are willing to put in the hard work in practice to do well at meets.
I been through a lot to be of assistance for this awesome police officer in Chicago, Illinois. I went through being distributed from Cupertino, California to Chicago, to being manufactured in South Korea, being made into many different parts to be an intermediate good, and being different parts as a raw material. I’m starting with who I am ,I am a iPhone 7 Red.{I know, I know, I am fancy} I am with this officer where I go all around Chicago with my owner Officer Jentson and we go fight crime and help other around our community. I came to Officer Jentson through the FedEx mail. I originally came from different parts of the world. Before I got to Officer Jentson I was in Cupertino, California going through the distribution process, that process
“Cross Country? What do you do, run from South Carolina to California?” I remember asking my brother this when he told me what sport he participated in. I was in seventh grade, but it was past the time I could sign up for it that year; however, the next year I decided to give it a shot. This one decision in middle school shaped the next five years of my life.
With school beginning once again, so did the new responsibilities that came during my junior year in the NJROTC as now the commander of the marksmanship team and one specific task that I was asked to was to create a more efficient marksmanship practice. During the second week of school with a discussion with Commander Heyward, he proposed his technique from his previous team where it got me concerned how will this work. The current plan I proposed was to be at least more efficient than his as I could get the returning students back in their target practices and for the new first year cadets would learn the basics of target practice quick and the returning members would be back on schedule with giving me time to work with the new members.
On the morning of November 1, 2014, I was getting mentally prepared for the biggest cross country race of my life. I had just finished breakfast at the hotel where my team and I stayed. My team and I loaded the bus to head to the coarse at 7:30am, so we could get warmed up on what was a cold, Fall day. As we were driving to the meet, I sat nervously wondering how will I perform/don’t let your teammates down on the biggest day of your life/can a Freshman handle this kind of responsibility?
My dad, for as long as I can remember, has always been a big part of my life. All throughout middle and high school we would have heart to heart conversations just father and son. I can remember the warmth of the fire, the taste of tea on the tip of my tongue, a cool midnight breeze blowing in carrying the scent of grass and fresh rain, my dad sitting across the room telling me about the different projects he was working on, and regaling me with advice to help in everyday life. One night, he told me something that would change my life forever: that all the different clubs, hobbies, and sports that I do are connected to each other in some way, and how each skill I gain from each of these different activities can be filed away to use in a later
Yours truly have some extremely strong feeling, trying to replicate back to my earliest childhood memory of my life, my first version was describing the setting that of my father hitting my mother over the head with something. Now, I personally know it was a gun. She was lying in a pool of blood in front of the fireplace with, me by her side trying to wait her up, then going outside crying subsequently my, grandmother could hear me. There were numerous scary moments in my childhood. I myself, can recall as a child, my father and brother falling in a lake of water with my mother shouting for help to get both of them out of the water. Our house catching on fire with my mother and me along with three of my siblings trying to get out my mother powerful strength holding on to us without letting go. Which my father were no there to be found. Later we learned that he was drinking with his friends up the street under a tree. Yours truly was told a few neighbors came to help. At that point we stay with my grandparents which I adored them. For the reason that I loved waiting for my granddad to come home from work for him to take me to get vanilla ice cream. After moving to Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of six from Alabama. My father continues to be very abuses to my mother for fourteen years of their marriage. Thank God she’s still alive today.
I put on jeans, get ready to head outside when I hear something near my window. It was as if it was trying to get my attention. I quickly put on my jeans and shirt and rush to the window in my living room. I come to the realization that it was actually Steve that was knocking on my window.
There has been many unexpected thing happened to many but I am going to go to tell you one. One times me and my family was going on a road trip to Bronson and we was on the interstate we was in a little car and we got coat up in a bunch of big trucks. And they had pend us in between them and they would not let us out. And one had navy written on the side and another on was a wide load it had a bulldozer on his loud boy and the rest of them was just box vanes. That was caring papers and material that we all use every day. They finely let us out and we went on and we was at a red lite and they pulled up beside us and be hind us and we took off and one of them turned and the rest was be hind us. And we was going down the road and one would
In one of the coldest days of winter, I opened my eyes to this mysterious world in a private hospital located in the most entertaining city, Tehran. Since that day, my dreams and aspirations have been shaped in an odd manner in a conflict of values. I grew up in Iran in a traditional Persian family that was also influenced by western values. We were living in the middle of an Islamic Republic with a fundamentalist Islamic ideology that conflicted with my family values. “Our Family values are fundamental principles, they solidify the foundation for a strong, tight-knit family,” my uncle always says, to remind us the importance of the family values. My family’s values consist of honesty, generosity, forgiveness,
I run and run. All I can here is the snap of tree branches, dogs barking who I can’t tell if they’re chasing me or just off in the distances, and the rocks rolling down the cliff next to me hoping that I’m not next to role down. As I keep running I feel my body slow down I became grow weaker every second. As I slow down I think to myself I have to keep running I need to get out of there I can’t stand it anymore. Just escape and get out of the awful place.
