The goals that have a high priority in my life are the ones dealing with academics and my strategies for completing these two goals deal with my grades. I would need to receive mainly A’s and very few B’s, as well as taking the required coursework for my major. I would also like to get involved in campus organizations, which I have done by getting involved in both Enactus and Impact. To obtain a position on the executive board in Enactus, I will start out as an active member, move up to a project leader, and then become a board member. Along with academics, I would like to further myself in my career by having an internship and a part-time job. My strategy to find a part time job is to use the resources the career center provides, such as the
When I decided to attend Howard University I was undecided as to my major and my career field. I worried that without a set plan I may not perform as well academically so I set certain academic goals to work towards as I determined my career path. I changed my major first to political science, and then settled on public relations major with a political science minor. The goal I planned to work towards from the beginning is to graduate with honors achieving a 3.8 cumulative GPA. My second academic goal is to attend one of the top 15 law schools once I graduate. The most prestigious la firms tend to mainly hire from these schools and the intent behind my academic goals is to begin my career as quickly and successfully as possible.
While obtaining my degree, I want to stay on the right path. So many people get into situations in college they can’t get themselves out of and they end up dropping out or kicked out. To obtain my goals, I should aim for at least 15 credit hours a semester to graduate on time. I also should do things to build my resume, which some are things I already want or enjoy doing. I should also explore what qualifications I need to work on in the field of interest I want to go into. I want to be able to enjoy my college experience and have fun with also keeping up with my grades and making the Dean’s List every now and then or even onto every semester. I want to strive for greatness and make a name for myself as I grow and prosper in this aspect of
I went through a lot in life as a child. Growing up was not easy as a kid ( especially
Coming from a disadvantaged background, my community has provided numerous opportunities to ensure I was receiving a quality upbringing. Therefore, I want to provide the same opportunities for other children plagued by financial difficulties. After my father passed away in my sophomore year of high school, I was influenced to give back to my community through the health field. I have since accepted numerous opportunities to improve the community’s health through volunteering at health campaigns, declaring my major in Public Health, and working at the Health Promotion Office at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa.
As I walked around Northwestern it seemed that at any minute a building could spring up and join the swaths of modern structures that lined the campus. This not only differentiated architecturally from other prestigious universities but also signaled a different way of thinking and learning at the university. At Northwestern I was blown away by the dedication to empowering the student body and encouraging learning as a community. I can think of no better example of this than The Garage. As someone who enjoys working with others, having a space to experiment and build entrepreneurial skills is somethings that I would utilize as often as I could on campus. Classroom academics at Northwestern also hold true to this mentality. I had intended to
My address would be 1-3-302 WangHaiDaSha, Hebei District, Tianjin, China-300143. In case this is not clear enough, I also attach a picture which I took from the address section of the website.(I have no idea why it did not show on your page) I am not the US right now, and my SEVIS record was set to end on 03/23/16 which was the day I graduated, so I think I should be needing an initial attendance I-20. Moreover, I am wondering do I must get a new visa( I already have a five-year visa) since I am getting a new
My best friends, who see me as all that represents stability and self-security, would not believe how frustrated I become with my own flimsy humanity. I am certain about nothing, that’s for certain. Today I want to win a Stanley Cup, tomorrow I’ll want to write a book, and next week I’ll be waxing poetic on my desire to join the Army. I am a child full of the energy that all of life’s possibilities offer. College will be a colossal playground. Don’t get me wrong; I am a linear, logically-brained, straightforward person, and yet I feel that I have a considerable number of issues in carving a straight path. Despite my frustration with my own complexity, I understand that it comes with every aspect of my primal being. The trials of higher education
I feel my style of practice continues to expand from the knowledge I've gained from this, and my other courses as well as from the many hours I have spent at the hospital with my field instructor. In addition, I am definitely more self-confident and informed in my approach when interacting with the patients and staff at the hospital. One downside, is that there is not enough time in the day, because, I have once again fallen behind on some school work, so I'm trying to employ some new time management techniques that will allow me to go to work, spend time at my practicum site and complete my assignments with fidelity. With all that said I thought this course was a very eye-opening experience and I am excited as well as looking forward to actually
My plan for academic literacy involved active engagement in my learning by participating in blackboard discussions and collaborates, as well as working on my time management skills and motivation to ensure that I was able to keep up with the required readings and complete all required assessments on time. Following the first Assessment, I contacted Open Universities Student Coaches who offered me advice on how to better manage my time, which I had intentions of implementing prior to a health issue that proved to be both ongoing and debilitating. As a result of my ongoing health issues, much of my planning fell by the wayside.
During the senior year of my high school, my parents lost their jobs and worked part-time, due to which I had to start working at an early age to support my family. After starting at Oakton Community College, I eventually worked full-time as my older brother couldn’t support the family anymore as he left to finish his last semester in for undergraduate education and now in graduate. Between being a full-time student and working full-time, it became difficult for me to participate in extracurricular activities. My grades also took a toll once in awhile due to my work and family commitments. Despite of these challenges, I learnt to manage my time efficiently to prioritize my studies and as a result I was able to maintain good grades. Plus I have been able to learn quite a good number of skills through my work and life experiences such as smartly investing in the stock market and eventually making small profits off of it. As of now, I have gained enough money through stocks and freelance web development to fund my summer semester and not worry about working two jobs at once. Using the resources at my disposal to get the best out of it has been one of the mottos of my life. I believe that such skills and experiences would allow me to excel in the competitive environment as well as take
Being able to work with individuals that differ from me culturally, ethnically, and religiously is a trait that I pride myself in having obtained at a young age. I developed this trait through my unique childhood in which I lived in three vastly different states, Michigan, Hawaii, and Arizona. While living in these states I interacted with a diverse group of cultures, from Samoan and Filipino in Hawaii to Native American and Hispanic in Arizona. Being exposed to diverse surroundings at a young age allowed me the opportunity to work with others that differed from me throughout my school years. This opportunity to delve into a diverse atmosphere at such a young age allowed me to develop this trait sooner than many of my peers.
I can respond from my own personal experience. My husband and I did this after our son was born. What we found worked for us, others questioned it (including our parents), or we even got the occasional frown. At the time it wasn't as common as it is today for the father's to stay at home with the children.
I have previous experience speaking in front of large audiences in many different areas. My main experience was during high school graduation, where I delivered the Valedictorian Speech in front of my graduating class of 650 students and all their family members which was around an addition 900 people. It was an amazing experience because I was able to confide into my class tools that will equip them in their future endeavors. At Washington University, I give Friday Sermons to my fellow classmates on various topics during Friday Prayer every month. I began doing so my sophomore year, and initially was uneasy since I was not good at public speaking. However, over time, I was able to ease into the responsibility and really enjoy doing it. Finally,
As a scholar practitioner I am constantly being challenged with quoting and paraphrasing other resources. I would like to say this has been an easy journey, but really I feel that I am still learning . I try to be self aware of this when completing assignments and I try my best to follow the feedback from instructors. To me, an individual who does not follow these standards is being careless, unethical and unprofessional. Plagiarism is also described as not giving credit to the source and identifying the material as if it were your own (American Psychological Association, 2010). The following paragraphs will identify where plagiarism has occurred and offer a solution.
One goal I have set and plan to achieve in the near future is to have a part time job in or near my college I attend in the fall to help pay for college expenses and needs or wants I may have. Having a job is going to be adding extra stress to my already stressful college life, so I will need to create a schedule to manage my time between studying, homework, the dance team, and leisure time. Another important goal I’m going to strive for in college is to have straight A’s all my years I attend. This is a very challenging long-term goal I hope I can achieve, but if I manage my time wisely and try my best in all I do with extra studying in my weaknesses, I hope to come close to this goal. One important life goal I have set and plan to pursue
