I have been on many vacations with my family over the past recent years of my life. I have been to Mexico near Cozumel, Florida in Disney World and even Houston Texas. My favorite vacation is the most recent one. I visited Chicago Illinois. I really enjoyed going out to eat at Michael Jordans Steakhouse, going to sightsee the Windy City and even going to watch a Chicago Bears game. I first walked into Michael Jordans and noticed how elegant it was being portrayed. I had honestly expected something less fancy. I was astonished by the service of the well-dressed employees. We got our appetizers which was Double-Fried Bacon and blue cheese. The bacon strip was so thick that it was similar to my finger. The syrup was so rich it felt like a flood of sugar was racing on my tastebuds. I decided to get …show more content…
I first noticed how giant this city was. No matter where you were there was always a park to marvel at or a tall building to be amazed by. The first place that we got to visit was Sears Tower. This building is the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere. I got to go all the way to the top floor by taking an elevator. There was so many crowds. The view of the entire city was miraculous. I believe that nothing compares. I bought a souvenir which was a snow-globe with Sears Tower in it. Next thing that I got to see was Navy Pier. At the time they were preparing something for Halloween so there was a giant mummy out on the pier of course. The pier is a pretty long walk to get to the end and to get back. I also got to go into a funhouse while on the pier with my dad. There was a room with a bunch of mirrors so it was very difficult to maneuver through it. Then there was hallways where you had to find the secret doors. Finally it ended with a small hallway with the sides turning making it seem like the path was turning you. We left the pier with a cab cause we didn’t want to walk all the way
grew up in Chicago, Illinois, a beautiful city surrounded by violence and controversy by the media. I found things more simple when I was kid growing up here, there wasn't much to worry about but as I got older things became more complex here. The sounds of the " L "' or as you know it as, The Train, and the roaring sounds of cars passing by my house made me feel alive while growing up and as a matter of fact still does. You could wake up in the morning and see the vibrant blue skies being pierced by the skyscrapers and see other kids playing ball or riding their bikes. When it was summer time I would play ins sprinklers or go downtown and play in the fountains with my family. Of course, like most big cities I had to watch my back while growing up because you never knew what somebody was up to. It's weird really growing up here because you never know what's going to happen next , wether it's a good thing or a bad thing. All I can really say about growing up in Chicago is that if I had the chance to redo it, I'd do if a million times.
When I went to Gatlinburg, Tennessee I was with my parents, grandparents, my brother, and my cousin Savannah. I got to go to all the little shops, Dig through rocks, and I remember honking through this tunnel we drove in. I guess it was tradition. I remember going to a mini amusement park where we rode go carts. I also remember going to the Titanic museum. I remember touching the ice wall and seeing all the sunken objects. I also remember seeing the grand staircase. I remember it feeling super heavy and emotional
Growing up in the Chicago area was a great experience for me, I was always a good kid but I had always struggled in school. The reason that I had a hard time in school was that I had A.D.D which was the cause of my distraction. Entering Pritzker College Prep was a different experience for me because I was overwhelmed, the reason as to why I felt overwhelmed was because of the amount of homework we got. I ended up spending nights where I would do my homework and wouldn’t get a sufficient amount of sleep and would also cause me to fall asleep in class. My grades started to drop which caused me to stop caring in school, so I also decided to just stop doing my homework and it caused a decrease in my grades.
I have written many essays since I was in middle school yet most of my writing was not that important besides for a grade. Yet there is one piece of writing I wrote that change my life and felt that it had an important impact to The City of Chicago. My teacher during that time wanted the class to enter in a citywide competition, which is called “Do The Write Thing”. It is a way for students to voice their opinions on how to stop the violence in Chicago. I wanted to help reduce the violence in Chicago since many youths are being killed in the streets every single day. In my paper, I mainly focused on three body paragraphs. The first one was why the violence in the city was increasing. The second one was some type of violence that I have witness in my own personal life. The final paragraph
I witnessed my cousins boyfriend corpse lying on my neighbors lawn. It was a humid summer night around 3:30 when I peeked through my window and saw my devastated cousin sobbing uncontrollably on my decaying porch. Being from East chicago, Indiana has transformed me into the person I am today.
Today my Hilarious Fiend Jasper and I will be leaving Dupree around 2:00. We will be traveling 2 hours 20 minutes and One Hundred Forty Five miles. To Rapid City South Dakota
The pleasures of Rapid City were in my sights when I asked Malory to make the 2-hour trip with me.To begin our trip to Rapid, we would get in my cobalt, and drive to the Dupree Cenex to fill up on snacks, drinks, and gas. Mallory would get Root Beer and Pringles. I would get M&M’s and Cherry Sprite. We would get in the car, after we filled it up with gas, put on our favorite music, and truly start the trip.
The city of Chicago has been displayed as a dangerous city in which all residents are affiliated with drugs, gangs, and misconduct of firearms. Whether someone fits into this stereotype or not, is normally based on their surroundings and their interactions with others. Growing up in Gage Park, named one of the worst neighborhoods, falling into this stereotype and becoming affiliated with drugs, guns, and gangs, would not be too hard for someone to do. However, I have lived in Gage Park my whole life and have not fallen into the status quo. I have had family members and friends fall into this realm of unpleasantness and watching them become another wrong kind of statistic is upsetting. I have been faced with the decision of continuing to have
My family has gone on many vacations, but the vacation to Cancun over Thanksgiving is the one I will always remember. My grandma took our whole family on a vacation to Cancun. There were many interesting events that took place on this trip that I will always remember. Every morning waking up to the amazing view of the ocean with the waves roaring to shore. We would spend our days hanging out by the pool and riding the massive waves at the beach. Playing basketball in the pool with the family is a circus trying to score.
You, a “Chicago kid” as a good friend keeps telling me, are going to have a big change in your life. That sounded like I was some cheesy fortune cookie but it is true. You have decided to go to the suburban area and go to that school full of white people. Oh and do you remember that lady who thought you came from another country when you went with your mom? Yep, that’s the high school you are going to. Anyway, check out this sacred wizardry that I have discovered to get good, or at least, decent grades in a middle school that took steroids.
Growing up in this city of Chicago was very nice. I lived on the Westside of Chicago, Hamlin and Augusta. Our community was not a community it was block. The block is the street that I lived one. My sisters and I was able to go to the park until the sunset. We would walk almost a mile just to have fun. We was able to walk everywhere, candy store, school, parties, and mall. All the houses on the blocks where kept up so nice. Every house had a flower bed. There were no boarded up houses. The grass was cut so well, and the brushes were trimmed nicely. You could smell the food that the neighbors were cooking. All the children on the block were able to play with each other. The neighbor would feed the other neighbors children. The trust for the people on Hamlin was very strong because everyone knew each other for years. The early 2000’s is a year that I will never forget. In 1973 my mom was born in Chicago. She lived in the same house that I lived in on Hamlin. As I was talking to my mother she was telling me that her life living in Chicago was lovely. Her dad
Just for extra fun we drove to Chicago and stayed there for two nights. We explored downtown Chicago, all the amazing buildings. We even got to go into the old Sears Tower, which was something that I think everyone needs to see. It's probably one of the best sights
hen I was 5 years old I moved from a small house in the West Side of Chicago and moved to a 19-storey building near the North Side of Chicago. When you look at most of the people living there, you don’t feel intimidated or uncomfortable because there are all kinds of people living there of many races and ages. There are good and bad times, but my personality has been affected by both.
Visiting the Arch was very fun, but it was also educational too. The massive structure was fascinating, just looking at it was a thrill. Before you went all the way up you could look at pictures and read the story of the wonderful building. The ride up was kind of scary, but not too much because we made it fun. I was there with my AAU basketball team so were joking around with each other and having a blast. The top was amazing. I
Last summer, my family and I took a trip to New York City. We’ve visited this city about five years ago, but I didn't remember much since I was only eleven years old. This trip changed my mindset on life. I got to experience the unexplainable and took pictures that were priceless. This trip is definitely a trip to remember and will always be special to me.
