5 weeks ago, me, my grandfather, my brother and our friend Mikey went on a trip up to Tennessee. Florida is no fun at all. I, being the always self-centered, ‘go big or don’t bother’ girl, decided that adding over 400 miles just to visit a museum and gravesite would be a great idea! It was. Though I could have lived without ever being in a car that long. This stop also resulted in a huge fight between my grandfather and my brother over an Xbox and a toilet plunger. Really? Yes. Have you ever seen pollen cloud up around an Xbox as it is being smased to pieces on the cement? Quite a sight (the damned thing still worked after all that, too!). Anyway, the sole purpose of this stop was for the Ava Gardner Museum. Now, I haven’t been a fan for very …show more content…
We couldn’t find my brother so we just walked to the many places near our hotel. We went to a few places but I wasn’t hungry and I really wanted to walk the mile to DownTown Smithfield to see what it looked like at night. Gpa called before we could start our journey and we had to trudge back to the hotel. We got lost. Not really lost, just on the other side of a wide, muddy trench. Not good when you’re next to the woods with God knows what. We’re not very bright and ended up basically RUNNING back to the highway and walking around the muddy pit to get back to our nice …show more content…
It turned out to be a good idea. We walked the length of the town, somehow COMPLETELY missing the old theater. Stupid. I then got the wonderful idea to visit the cemetery again. Hey, I was with a 15 year old pansy who freaked at the mention and a 65 year old who watches too many horror films. I was with great company for a night like this. And we were in luck! They don’t lock the cemetery! Score! We drove in and parked and looked around. We got to Ava’s and I was more peaceful than sad this time. Maybe it was because we were in a quiet place without creepy forest monsters. Maybe it was because we were there a few hours eariler. Whatever the reason, we said 'goodnight’ and left. The rest of the night was spent with Mikey and I watching numerous episodes of “Weeds”. The next day we went to the museum; it was very cheap and very nice. A couple was there with their child and we were told by the woman at the desk that the the little 6 year old boy was the fan! It wasn’t big but there was plenty to look at. Mikey and Alex(brother) spent their time inspecting the paintings in the library and trying to find the odd things hid in the images. I was in awe and very happy that I was finally here. We spent an hour there looking and studying and reading about her life. I bought some things from the merchandise section of the room (I didn’t get enough haha) then we
Today is Valentine's Day and I have nothing to do. Today I went to my brothers basketball game. They won 38-30 against auburn-y. This was a elimination game. I can't believe those ballers pulled it offing fugu. I mean when I was in 6th grade we didn't even make playoffs. Still single as always but I hope that will change. I like Evelyn Kitchen but I don't know if she likes me. I wimped out to ask her to dance with me and another kid in my advisory likes her too. It's pretty obvious. I just don't know if she likes me. I told my mom and dad and they told me to ask her. The worst thing that can happen is she says no and I get embarrassed to death. The next dance there is in March I'm going to ask her. I should probably explain
I went to Orlando, Florida. First we got lunch at the airport then we got ready for our plane to leave. Then we got on the plane after half an hour of sitting and waiting. Finally after a long plane ride we were in Florida. After we got our bag we went across the street to get our rental car.
So it goes kinda like this: The day before I left for Pensacola, I was told "Have an open mind, you don't know who you are going to meet down there", so I went in like I would any other social situation, and just try to keep to myself until I have felt out and become comfortable with the situation. The original plan was to not get close to anyone, especially since it was gonna be a week long thing then we would be done, and we'd all go home and eventually forget about each other, but things went differently. They started off the way I planned, then I got to know you, and I made the mistake of getting attached because quite frankly, you had topped out everyone I'd previously met and I tried to hold out hope that maybe something could work in
My best friend, Chelsea and I went to the Dallas Museum of Art today. It was a long drive but we had finally got there. When we arrived at the entrance I was immediately entranced with the artwork that was on the concrete wall. It had a blue background with this robot lady shooting out a rainbow with the top half of her body, and a giant red hand that is bringing life to the plants that is in the ground. When we got in to the museum the first thing that I saw was the café. I was curious to what kind of food they sell but we did not go inside because we were on a mission. So, we immediately went over to the information desk to see which art galleries were free and if flash photography was allowed. We left there to take a picture by this marble sculpture of this woman sitting in a dress with her legs crossed. Then we wondered around until we got to the creative gallery. I attempted doing a sketch of the artwork that was displayed, but it just looked an intermediate
Growing up in Southern Florida is something most people don’t experience with a sun shining brightly every day and water canals everywhere I looked, with spacious land to play on in most places it was definitely a great time as a child. I remember going on field trips in my elementary school, to the great Everglades which was something so exciting. Also, remember every Sunday going to the beautiful springs with my family to enjoy the great fresh water coming from underground. Now 16 years have passed, and things don’t look the same anymore going back to the places I grew up in was so exciting to find out there is no more space anymore or land to play on all there is business buildings everywhere and went to the everglades to visit and show my adult friends how wonderful it is to see nature come alive but the experience was nothing like when I was a child the everglades looked destroyed with a bunch of “Welcome to the Everglades” shirt selling places surrounding it and more business building too, it was depressing to see were this beautiful ecosystem went. What I did realize was the
One sunny, hot afternoon at switchback mx in Orlando, Florida I was preparing get two rookie supercross riders here train. I was getting very nervous that adam cianciarulo, and ryan lojack would not be here on time to train. I stepped out of the van and smelled the 2-strokes, and heard the roaring bikes. Then finally Adam and Ryan finally showed up! Ricky Carmichael and Ryan Villopoto and I told them to go get ready, because we had a lot of work to do today. Ryan, and Adam went to work on the track battling it out, when I waved them in.
My best moment was when i went to the Florida Keys over Christmas break in 2015. It was a two week trip just on our way to the Keys. On our way we stopped at the Creation Museum down in Kentucky and we stayed at my grandpa’s house in Maranatha Village down in Sebring Florida. When we finally got down to the Keys i couldn’t believe how beautiful it was. The water was that beautiful blue color and there was nothing but colorful coral and crystal blue water everywhere. When we got to where we were staying it was packed. There were more campers than we could count. The campground was on it’s own little island on the highway. My dad used to work there while my grandpa sang for an audience in the outdoor bar by the pool and hot tub. When i went to
After arriving and going through the security screenings, I proceeded to go down the stairs, entering the exhibit itself. Before even observing anything specific, it was immediately realized that this was no typical museum. Most people know that upon arrival, but only when you first enter the exhibit do you realize that this museum is not one that inspects the past, but one that reminds us of it.
Have you ever been to Florida? I went this summer with my mom, dad, sister, and brother. on the plane ride I sat on the window side, and my dad sat in the middle. My brother sat with us on the other side of my dad. My mom and sister sat in row 4, and we sat in row 13. On the way home I sat with my mom in row 4, and my dad, brother, and sister sat in row 13.
So my first two weeks at Florida Southern have been exhausting to say the least. One does not really know how flipped their sleep schedule is until they have to wake up early to drive to 8 am classes every other day. The bright side to these days, however, is that I end up making it home by about 11:00 am, where, beforehand, I might have even woken up at this time. I honestly don’t know what I expected from college, but I knew that the college that I planned on attending had a very beautiful campus. Living in the area, you always hear people talking about how world class architecture is located within the city. Florida Southern, along with Publix, and the location between Orlando and Tampa were the reasons everybody talked about
Three years ago, on an early, hot July morning, it was time to begin our trip to Tallahassee and Perdido Key Florida. My parents were buzzing around the entire house to try to finish up the packing, and the last final details such as food, money, and all those things that adults have to worry about before a big trip. My brother, Zach, and I were sitting in my muggy living room with all of our bags watching Spongebob, trying to comprehend how we are possibly going make it through a 16 hour car ride. My parents aren’t too keen on flying, well, actually my mom isn’t too keen on flying. My parents rented a car for us to use on the trip, because my mom didn’t want to add anymore miles on our ten year old van. Basically my parents could not trust
The first time I went to Saint Augustine, transpired in the fifth grade, for a field trip, we rode charter buses there and back, which ensued the first time I had been on a charter bus. My mother, planned to be a chaperone on the field trip, however, she just had my baby sister and could not come, nonetheless making it the first significant field trip that I went to without her. It remained incredibly cold outside when we arrived, nonetheless we all had a pleasurable time. First, we went on a tour through the oldest city in Florida’s downtown area, there we started the tour all the historical buildings and learn the history of them. First, we visited the school, a little one room shack that had held the students that were permitted to attend.
We decided to go down to Utah in the first place because she was trying on her wedding dress she picked out. After 3 days there we said our goodbyes and headed to California. It was a 12 ½ hour to get to Carlsbad, California, but on our way, we got to see the Stratosphere and the Trump Tower, and the enormous fire upon the mountains. After we got there it was pretty late, I don’t even remember what time it was. The next day we got up and went to Lego land it was July 3 and when we got there we walk around all of the Lego sculptures that they made. We went on so many rides and it was plenty of fun they had a waterpark that we did the next day and then the final day we were there we decided to go to the sea world and this was so cool we got to see little tiny jellyfish, we got to pet starfish and this other kind of eerie plant. During the sea life museum, there were stamps that you would have to collect to get a prize at the end and it was this Lego hat, we also got another one because it was the 4th of July. We had actually got tickets for four days at Lego land but we instead went to the beach and had so much fun. At this beautiful ocean we found sand crabs and sea shells and all this fun activities, I found a sand dollar it was so cool, I have never found one before it was super small so by the time we got home it was gone. After the beach, we decided to leave a day early to go spend the night in Las Vegas. On our way there it was dark so we got to everything lit up and it was awesome if I had the chance I would do it again I loved it. After doing many enjoyable hobbies, my family and I awoke and went home, the next morning I was so melancholy to leave, but I was happy to go sleep in my bed and have a nice hot shower. We got home late at 10:30 on July
We went to restaurant to see Natalie’s oldest brother and his brother. We ate Chicago pizza, which looks like a quiche.
That’s exactly why I thought we should not have been down there. As I was thinking this, two bike riders appeared in the distance. We could see them riding toward us, which freaked me out a bit but I didn’t say anything. They just rode by us, exchanging greetings. Then right after we passed them, we saw another man in a neon green hoodie walk across the road. He just sat on the side, doing nothing. I froze, almost immediately, grabbing my friends arm as if to alert him. I could feel him tighten up too, we were both quite frightened. He just walked on, though, which in hindsight was probably not the right thing to do. I felt that it would reduce some of the awkwardness, especially if the guy did nothing. As we walked past him, my friend said “what’s up” not really looking for an answer. His response was “do y’all do pot?” My friend said “no” and put his hand on my back. As the guy started to get up, I pulled his arm and just ran. The guy didn’t run after us, he just stood there. We didn’t care though. As we were running, we came across a bridge about 20 feet up from another road; we were about to cross Paint Creek again. There was a slope going down to the road from the bridge and so I pulled him that way and we ran down it. As we got to the bottom, I tripped and my friend fell over me. Disoriented, I tried to see if he had chased us. Of course he didn’t, I thought to myself. Briefly, I had felt like it was
