Our Trip to Las Vegas
Dalton and I were planning our fall break. We decided that we wanted to go somewhere fun for vacation. We talked to our families and we all went to Las Vegas. I’ve been there before with my brother and we were in a weightlifting competition. This time it was just for fun. We boarded the plane early in the morning and we were all ready. “What all are we going to do?” asked Dalton. “We’ll see when we get there” I replied excitedly. The plane ride was a lot of fun. We even flew over the Grand Canyon! Then, we arrived. When we got there we checked into our hotel. It was very fancy. We went to an Italian restaurant with our families and it was delicious. There was this giant ferris wheel and when we went high up it made
Leaving Las Vegas, directed by Mike Figgis and based on the autobiographical novel by John O’Brien, is an emotional story about an alcoholic who rejects life and wants to drink himself to death in Las Vegas, and an unselfish prostitute who loves him the way he is. Ben, played by Nicholas Cage, was a former movie producer in Los Angeles and has obviously crumbled in the glamour world of Hollywood which is shown in the opening scene. Here Ben is already an alcoholic when he disturbs former colleagues that are embarrassed of his appearance at the restaurant. Ben is unstable and a mess when one of the men give him money and tell him not to contact him again. Ben then gets fired and ultimately decides to drink himself to death in Las Vegas, a
We had been searching for something else to do while we were on our trip and we couldn't find anything.Since we didn't know what to do we went out to dinner in hope to find something to do later in the week while we were there.I do not particularly remember the name of the restaurant since it was chinese but it was absolutely amazing. We had to wait in line for a while since it was a very popular restaurant around that place. Once we got in we grabbed
When we all got to six flags, we all gathered together making plans on what we were going to do first. We all decided to go to Hurricane Harbor Park first because of how hot it was. As we walked into the park I was like “Wow look at all the slides!”
Ever since I found out my softball team could make it to California for Nationals I knew this would be our goal for the summer. Now here is where the challenging part came in, we only had three chances to make it to California. We made it, we were lucky enough to make our goal in the third chance.
I remember a day when I was walking in the Six Flags theme park in Texas with my best friend. The smell of popcorn and candy and the feeling of excitement from the little kids coming for the first time with the grandparents just enjoying the family experience. We were walking down the winding stone pathways, waiting for our next adventure at every turn. Trying not to leave our parents behind, we ran ahead enough to be in eyesight, but we were going at our own pace. He and I stood amazed at the sight of the gigantic rides as their shadows were cast down over us. The mini-shops and food stand would attract our little noses at the sight and smell of every peculiar food and trinket imaginable. My Friend, Rhett, suggested we go try a roller coaster. At first, I thought he was just joking around trying to scare me. I asked him what he really wanted to do and after that I realized that he wasn’t joking.
On my way to one of the greatest concerts, thoughts were swirling around my head. How good will this really be? Will I make it out alive tonight? Was it worth the wait? The thought that the next highly anticipated song that plays may cause a riot so large it ends my life. I soon found out after I entered the House of Blues, or rather, as I prepared to enter The Rodeo.
Waking up at midnight on a cloudy monday night, I walked outside and looked at the moon. Look at how far I have come. Living in hillbilly hick Iowa, to traveling all over the world. Listening to my mother has been one of the greatest things I have ever done. Without her I would have stayed in Iowa and probably married a ugly overweight farmer. Graduating from highschool I decided that I was going to go straight to college and get my masters in Biological Anthropology. Since I already had 20 credits completed at Iowa Central, I decided to stay for one more year. The money I would save would go into my traveling “fund”. Planning on living with my mother still, to me was not a bad decision. She fed me, clothed me, and loved me even though I can
When I was in the 12th grade I got the opportunity of a life time to go all the way to San Diego California with my FCCLA student organization. Coming all the way from hot a humid city filled Atlanta Ga, to beautiful sunny, beach covered California sounded like a dream.
Have you ever had an enriching moment that opened your mind to the possibilities in the world? Well I have, when my family and I went to Las Vegas, Nevada. Yes, Vegas is a little odd to have a life-changing experience, but we didn’t follow the normal Vegas path. This involvement taught me to not to act anxious rather to take risks in life, and if I work hard for what I want things will work out.
It was a hot summer day in Arizona me and my cousin were outside playing football when his dog Jack managed to open the backyard gate and get out. When we noticed we ask everyone in the house if they had seen him everyone in the house gave us the same depressing answer we were afraid of they said no so the first thing we did was open the front gate and take off using our feet and try to catch Jack. The first place we saw jack was in between a street called E.Jefferson as soon as my cousin saw him he bolted to try to catch him but he got cut off by the passing traffic jack also bolted and ran into the alley we used the fact that jack was in the alley to our advantage we ran him into a corner and trapped him,but jack was quicker and ran right through
I have never been so jubilant in my life to go to one place. The anticipation was so overwhelming, and I could not take any more of it. We got to the resort after a twenty-minute bus ride, and the view was breathtaking. I stepped off the bus, and I could remember seeing the beautiful palm trees and feeling the heat of the sun beating on my face. I said to my dad, finally we made it and let the fun begin. We got settled in and checked in the hotel. My brother and I decided to check the rest of the resort out. The resort had a crystal clear pool with a bar in it. It was unbelievable, and I have never seen anything like it before in my life. It had ten gourmet restaurants and plenty of entertaining things, for us kids to do. So, after we did this, we went back to our hotel and stayed in for the night and just wanted to get some
Every year during New Years Eve my family and I go to Lake Tahoe to see the snow and watch the annual fireworks at the Heavenly Village along with the concerts that they host. We also like to go ice skating and sledding because we always go there from December 30 to January 2. When we go sledding we usually go to the beach that is about five minutes away since that is where we have always gone and it’s always covered in a blanket of snow along with ice on top of the water. One day on our way to Lake Tahoe we noticed a snowmobile shop where you could rent one and ride them as long as you wanted. The next day we got our sleds and snow gear and went to the place only to find out that there was an hour to two hour wait. No one in my family wanted to wait, but we also didn’t want to drive back half and hour to go sledding at the beach since it was so far. My uncle asked the worker if there another place to go sledding and he recommended a place that was about
Trying to find memories is like looking for treasure. You look at the surface and see something mediocre, but you dig deep and find something cool, pretty, and meaningful. It took a while to think of a fond memory, but once I thought of some, it was hard to choose a favorite. Growing up I have had many great experiences in the form of vacations. Between going to Disney World, owning a vacation home, hanging out with my grandparents in Arizona, traveling to Canada and more. They all make amazing memories that I will forever cherish. The vacation spot we go to the most, though, is Wisconsin Dells. A few times I have been allowed to invite friends to come with. When I am allowed to bring friends, it is always a ginormous amount of fun. We goof off in the hotel room, play in the arcades, and swim in the water parks.
I felt the heat as soon as the door opened. We went to baggage claim and off to hotel we went. In a bus we drove to our resort along with a tour guide. We had arrived and our real adventure began. We were all very excited.
The wall, the steepest hill I have ever seen in my fifteen years of skiing. The slope’s description is in its name. It was not the size that scared me, but rather the pitch. I first saw the hill, as my dad pulled into the town house parking space, in Holiday Valley, NY. I knew the moment I saw the slope that I had to go down it. I had made a promise with myself some time ago, that if anything scared me I would try to do it.
