“FUMBLE! Bo Wallace fumbled in the end zone!”, yelled the announcer at Davis Wade stadium in Starkville, Mississippi. The 2013 Egg Bowl was truly a remarkable event for me that I will never forget. It was a cold windy Thanksgiving day as my family headed to Tremont, Mississippi. My mother’s family lives in Tremont; therefore she makes us go every year. Personally I strongly dislike going so I thought my day was ruined until my youth pastor, Brion Dowden, texted me: “Hey buddy I have two tickets to the egg bowl and my wife does not want to go due to the freezing cold weather. Would you like to go with me?” I did not hesitate to text back in all caps YES! Flashing back to reality, I wondered of a way to convince my parents to let me go. My game plan was to first attack my dad about the situation. I knew he would be on my side as …show more content…
It started out as a slow sloppy third quarter until Mississippi State had a chance to score. Although Mississippi State had a chance to score, their field goal kicker missed wide left. Everyone in the stands was very upset as we know we may not get another opportunity. Then things soon got incredibly worst. Ole Miss got a chance to score just as Mississippi State did with a field goal. Unlike Mississippi State, Ole Miss capitalized on their opportunity and scored at the end of the third quarter. Nervously, we got ready for the fourth quarter. Although our nerves did go away when Dak Prescott finally stepped on the field. The stands went crazy as Dak anticipated the first play. Dak helped move the team down the field into scoring position before being stopped by the Rebels. My heart dropped as I saw the field goal unit come out on the field to attempt another field goal. Everyone in the stands held hands and got very quiet. The kicker booted the ball as it floated through the uprights. We could not believe our terrible kicker made the field goal. The crowd went crazy as this game was headed to
It was the biggest game of the year, what every person wants to win, the championship. The score is tied 24-24 and the Idaho Hawks had the ball on twenty one yard line. It was third down and five and they ran the ball for only two yards and it was fourth down. They went for the field goal and got it. The score was 27-24 and the Texas Rams were ready to receive to it. On the return they ran for twenty yards. With only five seconds left the quarterback, John Halen, threw the ball to James Morgan. Morgan outran the cornerback and with no time left Morgan at the five yard line dropped the ball. The Hawks won, they were the champions.
We got changed in the locker room, listening to music that would get our adrenaline pumping. The game started with a tip-off with us getting the ball and scoring on the first play, but so did the other team. The game was very close. We would score, they would score. No one ever got ahead by more than four points. At the end of the second quarter with ten seconds left, it was their ball and we were down by two. They did a nice play and a girl got a wide open three pointer. Then the buzzer went off and we all looked at our fuming coach and knew what was about to come at half time. You know that scene in the movie, “42” about Jackie Robinson, where the other teams coach is yelling at him saying rude things? And then there’s the heartbreakingly beautiful scene where Jackie goes into the dugout and breaks his bat and screams and cries. That’s what our halftime was like. The coach yelling and us wanting to scream and cry, but still we had determination to win this game. We came back out ready to play and immediately tied it back it up. The game kept going back and forth, until the fourth quarter with a minute left and us up by four. The other teams coach called a timeout and our coach gave us a speech about if we wanted to win, we needed teamwork. Teamwork just like Jackie Robinson and the Brooklyn Dodgers. We came back out and held the game at four points until the buzzer went
At this point, the wheels came off of the Panthers wagon and GSU scored 16 unanswered points. GSU got things going and the momentum changed in their favor. Kincade connected with Chad Williams on a 13 yard passed to make the score 16-7 with PAT by Jonathon Wallace with 2:42 in the first quarter. At this point, both teams were going back and forth. Several turnovers occurred. Until, Kincade and GSU got their groove on with an 11 yard run for pay dirt. Jonathon Wallace successfully completed the PAT to make the score 16-14 in favor of PVAMU at the 10:39 in the second quarter. GSU would score again before the half when PVAMU’s Lorin Winston couldn’t handle a high snap and push the ball out of the back of the end zone for a safety. That tied the score at 16-16 all with 2:00 minutes left in the half.
We had the six point lead with only three minutes left, and we were confident that our defense would hold them as we had all day. The first play of the drive resulted in a long touchdown from none other than the running back. They decided to go for the one extra point to take the lead, and they converted with ease. We were tired and worn out, and we failed to score again. I was aggravated.
Since Pennsauken got the ball in the first quarter The Braves were gonna get it in the beginning of the third. This is when it got difficult. The kick return only went for five yards and , consequently, a quick three and out on offense. Every play I heard the thunderous crowd yell,”Awwwwww!” when we messed up. There are three reasons why that could have happened either: there was something in the oranges, their coach gave an awesome pep-talk or the cold was getting to our team; and I remember hearing somebody start to say,”What did they put in their oranges?” Pennsauken got their third TD and now we were tied- a
At the beginning of this school year, I began to realize something. I realized that my high school years were coming to an end. This was an eye opener for me. I didn't know what to expect of my last year nor what I wanted to do after high school. I then began looking for a job. So I applied to Chick-fil-a. I waited patiently several weeks for a call, but received no call whatsoever. I patiently waited for a new opportunity to come along. Until finally, I was given an opportunity at an electrical shop. On the first day of work I was introduced to the staff and learned the procedures of what needed to be done. My job now was to maintain the shop clean and to keep all materials organized as well as other tasks that helped me grow with my skills.
Although in the end Ole Miss dominated Mississippi state with a final of 38-27, the 2015 Egg Bowl was unforgettable for me. As we left Davis Wade Stadium, there were many upset and cheerful fans from each team piling out of the stadium. As the Egg Bowl brought football season to an ending, I could not help but to be excited and anxious for next season. Seeing my two favorite teams play each other was unlike any other game I have ever attended, and I hope to experience the Egg Bowl again one day in the
The last possession of the game was ours. The Jets again kicked off to us. The kickoff landed in the hands of my teammate directly in front of me. He caught the ball on the 30 yard line and ran to the 50. With 1:48 left on the game clock we called a quick huddle to call the next play. I looked to the sideline for the play, our coach called lucky 99 super power pass. We broke the huddle lined up on the field and made the play. I backed up in the pocket waited for the open receiver and made the 30 yard pass. We were now on the 20 yard line with 1:20 left on the clock. We played a no huddle offense because we were running out of time. The next two plays failed and we gained zero yards. It was 3rd down with 10 yards to go on the 20 yard line and 59 seconds on the clock, the coach called the next play which was 56 criss cross which was a run play. I handed the ball off to the running back, he weaved in and out of players and was finally brought down at the 5 yard line with 30 seconds left on the clock. It was a 1st down and our fans were going crazy and chanting Plain City rocks over and over. My team was also going crazy and cheering also. We regained our composure and got ready for the next play, we again failed to gain any ground on our next play. We
We kicked the ball off. They picked the ball up and started to run. Bam, Denny hit him, hard. We were on defense now. They kept passing it and ended up scoring a touchdown. They went for the extra point but missed. We were down 6 to 0. They kicked the ball off and Misa ran it back to the 40 yard line. The offense was out on the field. The offense did a couple of plays and didn’t get any where. Than we did a reverse and Gavan ran all the way for a touchdown. We went for the extra point and we missed it. It was now 6 to 6. We kicked the ball off and they ran to about the 30 yard line. The refs blowed their whistles to tell us it was halftime.
The day was loud and cold. The air was lingering with the smell of hotdogs from the night before. Everyone was cheering as the game was about to begin. The stands we’re full upon the kick to begin it all. There were people on both sides cheering for their team. The whole first quarter of the game we played was blank, there was no scores or anything that big of a play. But in the second quarter they opposing team Kettle Moraine took over. They were just driving on us the entire quarter. With the ending score of the half them up 14-0. During the break in between 2nd and 3rd quarter everyone was angry about how we weren't able to stop them. After are stretches we got ready to play again. Upon the kick being received in 3rd quarter it was about
Once we finished loading up the three trucks and our trailer with all the quads, it was around one o’clock in the morning. My best friend Klay shouted “Shotgun!” with one of the most excited and hyper voices I heard all night. When we were pulling out of the driveway, it looked as if it were a military convoy. The drive was six hours with no trailer and about seven with a trailer, I am very happy to say that I did not get elected to pull the trailer. After about two hours on the road we stopped at a gas station for fuel and the saviors of the night: Red Bull and 5 Hour Energy. After being up for around 20 hours, these were a much needed boost since we were all feeling groggy. Around 4 am all our co pilots decided to sleep, then the inevitable happened…
A close, high scoring game with lots of energy that I enjoyed from my wonderful spot. Duck fans were really started to get worried. The ducks were a 24 point favorite going into the game. At the end of the 3rd quarter, the ducks were holding onto a slim 24-21 lead. The 4th quarter “shout” dance seemed less spirited from the ground, and the crowd was very tense. Then the unthinkable happened. Oregon State scored and took the lead in the fourth quarter. The rain was pouring down on me now. And their was an upset on the horizon. The ducks scored, but the beavers answered right back. From the field, the northwest corner of the end zone looked like it was going to explode. Black and Orange were jumping up and down and high-fiving. The scoreboard read 35-30 with only one minute and thirty eight seconds to go. Some duck fans started for the exits to beat traffic. That was a huge
Heavy rain was sluicing from the sky. Lighting struck and smote two light post causing them both to go out. The crowd gasped but remained in their seats gripping hold of their umbrella's and bags over their heads. The game continued and soon my team and I was racing against the clock. Cedarwood had managed to intercept and score, and if we didn't get a touchdown soon, the game would be over.
Dude! Are you stoked or what for the “Super Bowl” this weekend! Have you heard about the men in gray suits being near that side of the island? Watch out, I do want you in one piece. Don’t forget your long board, but try not to surf the ankle busters and eat it like you did last time. I noticed that the last time I visited, you had a new squad and I honestly didn’t know if you were the same Adrian that I knew a few months ago. I mean since when do you drink and smell like alcohol, the next day you couldn’t even catch a wave because you felt sick to your stomach. You never pass up an opportunity to surf even that one time you had bronchitis and had strict orders to stay in bed you were on dawn patrol and I had to practically drag you back to your house before our moms found out and we both got grounded. To be honest the new squad is a bunch of kooks. I mean they didn’t like me because I didn’t drink with you guys. You only drink when you’re
Deshaun Watson then hit Hunter Renfrow on a deep ball, which scored a 27 yard touchdown, and that made the score 13-17, and the Tigers now had all of the momentum. Michigan responded with a quick drive themself, only to shoot themself in the foot by fumbling the ball away. This game quickly returned to a defensive battle, with both offenses not able to produce any yardage. This continued for the rest of the quarter, until Deshaun Watson threw yet another interception, which set Michigan up at Clemson’s 20 yard line. Clemson had to force a field goal, or their national championship hopes might be
