Throughout my high school years I have volunteered at the Recreation Center and at Valley Animal Haven. I really enjoyed volunteering at the Mother-Daughter-Tea-Party, an event held by the Recreation Center. This event was held a few days before Mother's Day and the theme was Disney Princesses and it had a fashion show. It was a wonderful day for the mothers to spend time with their little girls. What I did before the event even started was make the food, the tea, and decorate the stage and all the tables. When the place was all decorated, it looked wonderful. When the guests arrived, we greeted them and told the little girls how pretty they looked. When the guests were all seated, we started to serve the tea. To me that was the most difficult
During the summer I volunteered at a summer camp and I took care of kids for about 8 hours daily
I volunteered at the Gonzales City volleyball clinic where I assisted the head coach by helping the young volleyball players learn how to set, serve, hit, and bump. I did this three times a week for three hours each day. The clinic consisted of children from ages 7-14 and each age group went in at different times. Also, I did community service at my local St. Theodore Church by helping in the jumping house at the church carnival. For the past four seasons I helped fundraise at the high school football games by selling food at the stadium snack bar. In every home football game I would stay for more than half of the game in the snack
The Easter egg hunt was designed for children in the church community. Another event I volunteered in was making prayer blankets for the homeless. A prayer blanket is two pieces of fabric connected by knots, and with every knot tied, a prayer is said for the person the blanket is going to. I also participated in volunteering for the vet. Similarly, my family was a member of the Missouri House Rabbit Society and fostered a total of eight bunnies. We eventually adopted two bunnies named Shannon and Clover. I love to make a difference in my community, even if it was a small deed.
I participated in my schools Beautification Project by cleaning up the school grounds and surrounding area. I pulled weeds, planted flowers, laid mulch, picked up trash and painted. This was important to me because it allowed me to give back to the area I both live and attend school. I have baked and distributed cookies to families at the Ronald Me Donald House. I have also prepared snack packs for families at the Ronald Me Donald House- prepared bags with pudding cups cheese crackers, chips, granola bars and muffins. These were provided to families so that they could have access to a snack while at the hospital with their child. I have sort/packed food at the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, volunteered as a community meal server and donate blood regularly. I also assisted with coordinating the blood drive at my
Since 2013, I have volunteered at Country Manor. I have put in over 100 hours, and it has been a very rewarding experience for me. In the summer I went weekly. During the school year, I volunteered on Saturdays twice a month. I met a lot of wonderful people, while I was there. I think it really helped me become more outgoing, and I had fun every time I went. It was so nice to see that I was making a difference in their lives. I loved getting to know them.
For my community service, I have been going to Lyndon B. Johnson Head Start Program, or LBJ. At LBJ, it is my responsibility to look after children and clean up after them. The teachers there set up many activities for the kids to work on, most of the time they finger paint. The teachers also set up small field trips. For example, we once went on a field trip to a house that had set up a pumpkin patch and many other activities for the kids. The house we went to wasn’t very far from LBJ. The children had so much fun choosing a pumpkin and playing different games, and I had fun helping them and taking care of them.
Looking into her eyes, I realized that she was not as happy or as content with life as she showed herself to be. Beneath her sprightly demeanor, she hid her disappointment and loneliness.
My two main volunteer experiences consist of: Outdoor School, and volunteering for Homework Club at Gordon Russell Middle School. I have only been able to go to Outdoor School twice, but both times were filled with accomplishments. I worked on plants field study, so learning all the information, which seemed overwhelming at first, and then being
Assisted young children between the grades of preschool to 8th grade in their education. I decided to volunteer because the children of today will be the children of the future and the more smart and educated they are the better they will be in the future. Another reason I helped was because it is hard for young children to adapt to the lifestyle of constantly moving from one place to another. Since their parents are migrants it can have a negative impact on them and their education. I remember one little girl is from Florida but every summer her parents move up to Michigan to work in the fields, but once the harvest is over they move back to Florida. She was behind in school and with the help of teachers and myself we motivated and helped her out so she was able to catch up. I really enjoyed volunteering the past two summers ago at the summer migrant program. If I had another opportunity to help I
Since the summer of eighth grade I have volunteered at Essentia Health Hospital making tie blankets for inpatients. These patients are able to take the blankets home with them when they are well enough to leave the hospital. Moreover, I volunteer at my local church for a once-a-month food share. I help unload the food from the truck, sort out the rotten produce, and distribute the food among the shareholders. Additionally, I clean up highways and trails as a part of Green Club ,and I partake in numerous other volunteer opportunities within my school
I have volunteered our local chart choose around my neighborhood that have partnered up with the Houston food Bank . Once a month on a Saturday the Houston food Bank sends a truck full of food and the church distributes the food to people in need around the neighborhood. I along with others would work behind the scenes and package all the food into a box and prepare for it to be distributed. Volunteering for this cause was super fulfilling. Regardless the hot weather I would wear again I knew that it was going to such a good cause. Just imagining a family who would otherwise struggle to have a meal to eat would now have a whole feast f have a whole feast ready on their table for their families.
One community service that I have done with my dad is Brooklyn Nets Basketball camp. It was for the community of Brooklyn and It was for the kids and to get them better at the sport. Therefore they had NBA players like, Chris McCullough, Sergey Karasev, Rondae-Hollis Jefferson. Those NBA players came to the camp and they interacted with the kids. However, all that was great but the best part of the camp was to have the kids ask the NBA players questions. That was when we got to take a step in their shoes and learn from their experience.
I started volunteering at a young age; my dad would always let me tag along with him to the Florissant Valley Kiwanis activities where I could help out by performing small tasks like drawing in customers at the various festivals that we attended or carrying around the heavy soda crates so that the senior members of the club wouldn't have to. Volunteering became a habit for me as I grew older and it taught me to how to be a leader in my community. It also made me a more friendly and compassionate person, ready to help any person that needs it. If I had not participated in the volunteer activities that I have, I would not be that same person that I am
When I was in the AIAS club, I was introduced to Habitat For Humanity’s volunteering program. The club members and I visited the community once to learn about the building process. Not too long after, I became an active member in their community service program. I volunteered once a week for five to six hours. The volunteer work I did varied from working in a Restore, an administrative office or different construction sites. Because I was studying architecture at the time, the construction site intrigued me. This type of work involved carrying items to the proper location, measuring and cutting certain pieces before installment, and mounting hardware under supervision. When I was working there, I got a chance interact with the homeowners, who
I volunteer at the April Spring Fling Luncheon with Tom Arnold this year. I had a blast. At the Magnificent House when the client celebrate 90 days sober I provide them with cake and Ice cream. I general volunteer when my colleague
