I have always been passionate about writing. From a young age, I would wake up on Saturdays and run straight to the computer to pour all of my thoughts into whatever story I would imagine that week. It brought me great delight and pleasure to express my thoughts in a way over which I had free reign, creating beings and worlds without limit or restraint of reality. I see writing as my best and most natural form of communication.
It may come as no surprise, then, that I was thrilled to be "required" to enroll in a writing class. Writing for any reason, whether academic or creative, always throws me back to the joyous childhood creativity of sitting before the computer, preparing to let the waves of story come crashing out of me.
Because of the large amount of effort with which I have sculpted my

I found it exciting to decide in which form I might attempt to introduce myself. I chose a prose or short-story format, as much of my young life I wrote stories. I then chose to write in a way that projected into the future and reflected on the choices I am currently making by imagining what my life would be like as a grandmother. Not only was it a joy to create, but it also gave me insight and validation, that if I continue on my current path, I will be content with where I end up in life. The part of the assignment that most challenged me was the reflection process - I'm so used to just writing and not reflecting on the process of how I came to the ideas I try to translate. This expanded my skills, giving me a new tool for writing, as now I know to reflect on why and how I write. Practicing writing reflections will ultimately give me great insight and continue to force me to consider my own work rather than just accepting it as it is. This exercise reminded me that there is always room for self-improvement as a result of
How can I become a better writer? Throughout my writing experiences, I have learned I have many weaknesses along with strengths. My experiences with writing has not always been the best, but over time, with lots of practice and instructions from my instructors, I can proudly say that I have gained a better understanding on the layout of essays and papers. As well as understanding how to write correctly my goal as a writer is to learn how to overcome my weaknesses and use my strengths to my highest ability. I have many strengths, weaknesses and goals that I plan to achieve and overcome in my college career.
In this class, I have learned many new skills to improve my writing, and I have also learned new grammar rules. In regards to my writing, I have learned the importance of freewriting when beginning to write a paper. Additionally, I now know to allow ample time for revising and editing because I can look at my work critically for mistakes and make necessary changes. Furthermore, I have learned about grammar rules such as pronoun-antecedent agreement. This rule is something that I know subconsciously, but being made aware of it has allowed me to find mistakes I make more often.
I learned a lot from this experience. I was familiar with all the kinds of writing, but I wasn't familiar with how to go about writing them. Through the assignments and tests I had to take, I know that it is important to know how to do different kinds of writing. As for grammar, I've become a lot careful with how I write. I've been checking every paragraph as write and this is something I'll continue to do. I've enjoyed writing since the eighth grade, but I've never felt like I've been improving. I've realized that I am much better than I thought I was. I'm glad I had this opportunity. I know it'll really help me in the long run.
While not a hugely transformative venture, I have found this semester to be a good vehicle for making my writing more accurate to its intended purpose. Prior to taking this class I did have some experience in professional writing for a few of the jobs I've had in the past, but this class organized those thoughts, gave them name, and pointed out where and how to pursue them. Its been an enlightening experience and provided me with tools I hope to use the rest of my life.
I have not taken the ACTs yet, but I plan to take it later this fall. Last spring I meant to take it but tended to postpone registering for the exam. I plan to take it on October 23rd this year. Even though I have not taken the ACTs yet, I have taken the SAT. Though I don't remember my exact score in the reading department, I remember it was mediocre. I hope that I can train myself in the english and writing department so I am able to score well on the ACTs.
Throughout my writing this semester, I know where I struggle with writing and I have learned many skills to improve my writing . Also it will be all about all the activities we have done and how they have helped me with my writing. I will talk about the areas I struggle with and what I have learned in this semester.
As a college student, I am growing mentally and physically. I learned how to communicate with others, manage my responsibilities, realize my abilities and be confident in my life. This course is assisting me in my growth by every Saturday learning a new capability about myself and enriching my mind. Also is helping manage my emotions since I am taking phycology I know more about my depression and anxiety plus I learned that many people have and have experienced the same emotions I have been experiencing.
Writing sucks! It is one of the things I used to dread about the most in high school. I dislike it when instructors would ask us to write such long essays. I dislike it when I have to participate in writing challenges because teachers would randomly pick a student. Nonetheless, winning in those challenges heightened my self-confidence. I thought I hated writing, but I was somewhat decent and I started to like it a bit more. However, things took a sharp turn when I had two writing classes entering college. I realized I was not a decent writer after all.
I have always said that writing is stressful for me; I can never find the correct format or focus on a main theme, however I do have to acknowledge that any mastering skill does require practice, an as much as I dread writing I have to admit that I have improve significantly. Now my grammar is the least of my worries, which in the past would have been the first. I have also learned the basic skills that come with any type of writing; outlining, brainstorming, citing, quotes, and drafts.
Writing is a method of representing language in visual or tactile form. Before reading this unit I did not realize that I did not have great writing habits and the skills necessary to adequately convey my message. Like with anything in life you need to have a plan or technique, some kind of checklist that you can follow in your mind. In this chapter there are many ideas that will help me become a more effective writer and thinker. One of the most important things that I learned in this unit was how to effectively use the five step writing process. This is something I never knew about or learned in high school. I always just wrote whatever I had on my mind onto my paper and made a few changes here and there. My writing was good but not as good
My journey of becoming a good writer, I have faced many challenges. English being a second language, sacrificing time needed for a good essay paper, and being consistent in writing, has been many of my challenges of becoming a good writer. Repeatedly, I have come to understand that writing is a process, and I can become a better writer by writing more often, and reading novels and magazines.
There is one major skill and experience that I discovered I had. It was junior year and I was in trigonometry taking a test, after each question I had an uneasy feeling in my gut. I felt that I was going to flunk the test and get an F on the test. The day passed and I learned that I got a ninety-percent on the test. From that day forward I learned that I should go with my gut. I learned that I could trust my mind with what I was doing. The knowledge is there, all I needed was to apply the knowledge. Throughout my eighteen years of living, I have learned that life is full of decisions. Learning that I can trust my knowledge to succeed, I have discovered that making decisions is starting to come easier to me. To myself, learning this skill is
I learned many new things during this semester. Before this semester I did not even know that Google Drive existed. I’ve learned how to use it and love it, now I use it for everything. I had always thought of myself as being an organized freak even a little bit on the OCD side, but after learning about Cornell Notes now I can be more organized. I can summarize and write notes as I read a book or an article. It made by assignments much more easier.
There are many small things that you learn in a classroom that you do not think will help you in any way. However, things that you first learned in the classroom will be useful when you are in conversations or you are arguing a certain point. An example is the debate activity we did in class which many people took lightly and they really did not appreciate. I will be addressing 3 things I have learned this year and how they are useful when it comes to the real world and the classroom.
When I usually write essays I tend to re-read the prompt after I read it I try to make any connections to the topics that I know about. After all that I break it down and I start to type my first draft out. Now that the class is almost over I’m very confident in my writing and I know what I am capable of writing and what I’m not. My overall experience in this class and also in writing has completely changed at 1st I really didn’t like to write that much essay I just wrote them to get a passing grade in any classes.
