There are many small things that you learn in a classroom that you do not think will help you in any way. However, things that you first learned in the classroom will be useful when you are in conversations or you are arguing a certain point. An example is the debate activity we did in class which many people took lightly and they really did not appreciate. I will be addressing 3 things I have learned this year and how they are useful when it comes to the real world and the classroom. We learned about debates and how they function very recently and we had to do our own debates. This gave me a peek at what I would be doing if I were to choose to become a lawyer. To me this lesson was invaluable to me if I choose to do this. Sadly I really did not get to get a very good examples, since many people did not focus and take it seriously. The way I would use this in the classroom would be if we asked to take a side of something and we were asked to argue it. For example, when I was in 9th grade Mrs.McAdoo told us to take a side on something that we think is right like the death penalty. I personally think that the death …show more content…
This helped us learn how to not always trust the obvious and make sure you are doing the right thing and not just going with everyone. In this we learned to look closer and not just trust the things that were stated as facts and to make our own assumptions. This would also help me or other people if they wanted to get a career in law. The way this helped me in real life was when I had to provide evidence that a certain fact was wrong. I was given a few days to come up with some research and sources to back up my claims. When it came the time for me to provide all the research and evidence that I had collected over the course of those days, I had done so much research that no matter what the opposing side provided I had a counter argument to deny all their claims and in the end I had proven that fact
One of the most significant lessons that I have learned in class was learning the true meaning of the Declaration of Independence. After sitting through years of long history courses I have never actually read the document. Prior to reading the document, I knew that America wanted to be free from Great Britain. That was all I needed to know. But to be prepared for the class discussion I knew I needed to know more than that. So, I translated the document so that I could understand the document enough to discuss it.
The other important lesson I learned was that research and reflection are essential to good teaching. Torey Hayden had quite a few unorthodox methods
The three things I learned this summer was that I just have to read every once In a while and I understand stuff. Reading this summer has improved a lot in my opinion. I can follow along with the professional reader when he reads and I can follow along with my pen when Mcgee reads, so that has improved since the school year. Also that our teacher can talk about things and actually make you think a little bit. Just when he does the little kindergarten impressions, he makes a really good point. He makes you think in depth which I think is a good thing.
I find myself reading this short paragraph over and over(above). My topic sentence makes me happy and proud. Going back to school was the best thing I have done. I chose to talk about going back to school to the “future employer” because it shows I am motivated as well as dedicated. This class has brought a lot to my attention. The mannerism that is expected in the “business world” is to speak and write well. It is extremely important to know how to write (type) a meaning full and proper paper whether it is for school or work. I have noticed a great impact in my vocabulary and writing skills. My boss told me on Monday he is impressed with the new docs I typed up for our new clients (with no help from him). I was not excited about this class
Physics has been both a challenging and deeply beneficial course. The reason this course has been difficult for me isn’t because it is an AP class. It also isn’t because I am only a sophomore, my age has no real impact in this instance. This class has been difficult for me because it presented several ideas in ways I had never challenged before. It has truly made me question my way of thinking and has opened up my eyes to the world around me. Some of the things I’ve learned in class I’ve already observed before but never knew why. Other things I’ve been blind to and finding out the truth gives me a whole new perspective. I have had to retrain my brain out of its misconception of reality. Learning something entirely new is easy. The real challenge occurs when you have to forget what you thought you knew and replace it with something entirely different.
Hi Class, last week was tough for me as I was pretty sick. I have not updated the content that much.
The class has helped me develop self- discipline, respect for authority, helped me strengthen my character, showed me that Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM) and helped me to know HONOR, COURAGE, and COMMITMENT. Learning these things was amazing and I’m still learning new stuff every day! Let me give you an example of HONOR, COURAGE, and COMMITMENT.
_”Well I guess if you're going to be involved in the school Orchestra you won't really need to worry about taking any performing arts subjects after all then :) It's good to see that you're going to be mentoring other kids I think you'll grow in wisdom in it and the other kids will really benefit from you as well. Your teacher is right you are going to be very busy with school!”_
Undoubtedly, I was in the quarterlife crisis 3 years ago before entering college because in this time I only was worried about stupid things and I didn’t be conscious of other important things for example my degree.
I know that I am a combination of a visual, auditory, writing/reader learner. So I learn best when I write things down, says the words multiple times, rereading things several times, when I interact with other people, and ask questions about the certain subject . One thing that I notice when I learn is that I learn best when I repeat things over and over again. When I recapitulate my brain makes multiple connections to the information and help me remember the information even better.
To explain, this method helps students to express themselves verbally, stir their thinking process also teaching them how to agree and disagree. The author seems to make a strong point in open exchange of ideas with others will learn both the existence and validity of other points of view. I feel that in sharing testimonies of truth will perhaps drastically change other ideas or give a different perspective. By the same token, it seems teaching by discussion, wrong conclusions may be corrected, creative thinking stimulated, and problem-solving techniques are learned which can be applied in all aspects of
The current me right now is just your average high school male, but if for the sake of contempt, you were to compose a story with me in the lead role it would certainly be quite a tragic one. If you were to compare the current me to the plump elementary brat many years ago, obviously I’ve transformed due to the replacement of cells and puberty, but that would be a physical change. However, if you were to contrast my former and current mental state, it would be extraordinarily disparate.
I could still remember the day my 3rd grade teacher passed out a rubric paper and as i looked down at it, i felt like it all was in hebrew. All my teacher told me was “go home tonight and give this to your parents.” In bogota colombia they have never introduced science projeect so not only did i think it was in herew but my whole family thought to ourselves what is this thing. now and days you can google up a lot of information, but back then computers worked so limited, we had to go to the public library and ask and check out books to figure out what we were going to do. As a little girl i thought “ wow this is going to be so much fun and creative” as we started buildng up the board with abstracts, questions, hypothesis, background reseach,
Imagine viewing a youtube video 50 years from now that documented a day in my classroom. Would that document demonstrate that I was preparing my students for top-notch careers or would the lens capture a laughable waste of educational time? I am confident that I am providing my students with opportunities to engage with technology, problem solve, and team build. What I don’t know for sure is if I am maximizing learning time appropriately for their needs as 21st century learners. My goal is to work with my teaching coach to become aware of gaps in my instruction and lesson execution that fall short of reaching digital natives.
As a general rule of thumb, I prefer learning about the practical applications of a given skill or ability, the reasons behind a decision, and the cause and effects of an event. This is extremely conceptual view point, as these are more abstract than cold hard facts. I demonstrated this in two ways. One is how I focus on the reasons and effects of Brock’s, Lucas’, and Hull’s actions during my presentation and why they did what they did. Brock wanted to deceive Hull, Lucas loves to gather information and always seems to be able to witness key events or investigate the area, and Hull stressing over the safety of the citizens in his protection. Another occur this summer in my microbiology lab. Here, I enjoy learning why we did certain things in certain order. It was not all about learning the procedure, but the reasons for it.
