Your Honor I am here to vouch for my friend, Jake who has been charged with underage drinking. My friend was involved in drinking as you can see in his Instagram pictures. He was at that party and was drinking. He understands what he did was wrong and unsafe. It was one big mistake I’m asking you to overlook. He has been attending drinking seminars on the dangers of drinking, and showing teens from all around the dangers of drinking. Jake has a really good life ahead of him. He is a starting Quarterback for his school and has a 3.7 GPA. He has guitar practice every Monday, and every weekend he goes to lake Blackshear to practice watersports, another activity he shines in. All this talent would go to waste if you
In my Middle School years, I went to E.L. Wright Middle school, that year, I have more responsibilities and more class and work to do. In my 7th and 8th grade year, I accomplished the A/B Honor Roll for all school year. In those years at high school ever since the speech, I tend myself to care about my grade and making the highest grade. In 7th grade I apply to the AVID Program with Mr. Quitter, he changes my work ethic. He introduced me to Cornell Notes, writing on the right side of the paper. He introduced me to college, and at that time, I now know that college was very expensive. Even though he’s short but he did a lot to the avid program a success. After he left in my 8th year, miss. Liandra Davis took over, but she is strict today. Having
The video on underage drinking further highlighted information that I was already aware of. Over the last several years, I have seen multiple news stories covering the Midwest’s drinking problem. According to Bustle.com, Lincoln was found to be one of the top ten drunkest cities in America. This doesn’t come as much of a shock to me. Drinking is part of Nebraska’s culture. Small Nebraska towns are full of drinkers; even minors are allowed to participate. Even though I am from a small town, I didn’t drink until I was in college, and even then I did so in a responsible manner. My family and friends never encouraged or participated in drinking, so I never really felt the need to. However, the same can’t be said for many of my high school peers.
In the beginning of, Drinking Deaths Draw Attention to Old Campus Problem, Mindy Sink writes, “Samantha Spady, 19, a sophomore at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, died of alcohol poisoning after an evening out with friends in which she drank the equivalent of 30 to 40 beers and shots” (49). Underage drinking is a big problem in our society. Teenagers don’t really know how much it is affecting their health and how many problems it can cause. The University needs to take action on college kids that are underage drinking. There are many ways to prevent a teenager from drinking if he or she gets the right message.
Drew is always supportive and caring during difficult times. In early December of 2014, My Grammy was in the hospital for about ten days with pneumonia, before she transferred to hospice. This was very tiresome on myself and my family. Even though Drew and I had just began dating, he made sure my family was doing well, and continuously asked if there was anything he could do for us. I was at the hospital every day, and mostly sitting in the waiting room. On day, Drew brought me a large strawberry smoothie from Dairy Queen, and stayed and visited with me in the waiting room. This helped me to get my mind off of my Grammy, and cheered me up. In 2015, I got very sick with bronchitis, and had to miss almost a week of school. Drew made sure he picked up all my missed assignments, so I did not miss too much.
This is a serious issue, and it is crucial for teens to be aware of the dangers that could be surrounding them. Our video was made to inspire teens to make the right decision on whether to drink, or not to drink. Friends, classmates, teammates and family members can have huge an impact on you, and it is crucial to know what is right, and what is wrong.
Underage drinking has become one of the largest social issues among teenagers in America today. Although more than half of high schoolers drink on a regular basis, the problem is that they’re not aware of how dangerous alcohol can actually be. The reality is that alcohol is often the cause of many issues among many teenagers today. Simply saying alcohol is what’s ruining many young adults’ lives. Drunk driving, clubs losing their licenses, and the individual losing control of their own actions.
On this day two years ago I felt like something freaky was going to happen like the lights were going to go out and something was going to scare me. During that time my brother “Matthew” and I were in the house watching the Cavs play when our lights automatically shut off for no reason. 20 minutes later when the lights finally turned back on Matthew and I went slowly out of the bedroom and we saw a note that was stuck to the door with duct tape that said in all caps “RUN” and when Matthew and I saw it we didn’t run because we needed to see what was going on.
If I am being honest, I’d hate for many of the features mentioned to be a part of my neighborhood. The one that really irks me the most is waste incinerator, not only would it cause air problems but also because it is a cancer forming chemical. What kind of environment would it be if going outside was a constant risk to not only myself but anyone that had to pass is on a daily basis. The fact the park is not really a park, saddens me because growing up the closest park was a 10 to 15 minute drive, so for this park to be so close but not really be at the disposal of the children to use freely without there being drug use or such nearby sucks. Although, in the book they mention how the vacant lot is beneficial, I’d still dislike to have to see that every day in my neighborhood, because who wants to see a pile of trash on their walk or drive somewhere. Also, having younger nieces who wonder what everything is I’d constantly worry that they’d go and try to touch something that they shouldn’t. The garbage dump being 3 blocks away, is something I’d also dislike because I’m sure when it becomes to full the smell must be unpleasant. My roommates and I are guilty of this already with our trash that I cannot imagine dealing with a whole neighborhoods trash.
Yesterday I had a full practical driving test. I went in prepared and happy. However, in the beginning of the test as I was identifying hazards my driving test coordinator wasn't pleased with how I was listing them and told me to change the way I was speaking. She said this twice, and on the second time she said this she said that this was my "last warning". For example I was saying, "Making sure that the oncoming car stays on it's right, as I stay on my left", and she very forcefully wanted me to say, "Keeping an eye on the oncoming cars..." This I found frustrating as "Making sure", and "Keeping an eye", are quite synonymous to each other. Also, I have taken my defensive driving course, gone on a drive with a
Growing up, I’ve always been that sibling who receives more than the two. Being, the only granddaughter out of all the grandkids, I have more advantages than my brothers. Moreover, being the favorite my dad allowed me to take upon a new collection. I started collecting Marilyn Monroe items from posters, signs, and even blankets. Then, I was gifted a very special collector’s item that made me appreciate where and whom it came from.
One time when I passed my own personal integrity test at the mall. This was about the time I was in middle school. I went to the mall to with my friend and one of her friend that I didn’t know really well. I just went to hang out some with other people from school that were there as well. I bought a shirt and bracelets from Forever21 but, no one else bought. So just walk around looking through store around the mall. My friend seen a set of earrings that matched my bracelets she showed me but I didn’t have enough money to buy them. The other girl said,” you have to buy just take them it’s easy”. I was shocked and everyone was staring at me waiting for me to take them. I couldn’t do it I started about it if I get caught what my Mom was going
I believe in dignity. In my culture, my community would ask, “Don’t you have dignity?” whenever someone did something wrong. The word “dignity” was always at the center of people’s actions. However, I was too young to have a concrete definition for dignity. When I went to law school and realized that dignity impacted others, I knew that dignity would require more inspection from me. I believe in dignity because it affects my perception towards politics and the people around me.
I chose this topic because a lot of teens are being more adventurous and trying new things like drinking. Drinking can be very addictive at first and you keep on doing it and doing it but at one point you need to be home because it’s past your curfew and you're drunk, and mentally you are not thinking straight and you just think about I need to get home. When you are driving you think you are driving safe when in reality you are breaking laws, till you crash. You don’t know what is happening only that you can’t breath and light out that is where it hits you, everyone that loved, and cared about you you're never going to see them again. I want to let everyone know that drinking and driving is not ok because you can crash cause somelses life
I was on the patio today, and a drone flew by. I was shocked! As often as I see those little buggers on the news, I never thought I would see one buzzing by me on my in-law's patio. Nevertheless, there it was, zooming by.
Well, this question seems too big for me. I am only an average person that does not have any significant ideas to inspire, advise, or stimulate someone to change the world or make what the world would be. The only thing I want to do is I try to do my best to become a helpful person and contribute something as much as I can to the society. This is quite simple, but I have been striving a lot to achieve these goals.
