On top of that I was always fascinated by the amount the respect and power they get from helping people and kids. But one of the most important reason to become a nurse was my mom, she died in a battle with cancer. lastly, I know by becoming a nurse, I will get stressed, but it doesn’t matter because I took a class with professor mike in psychology and I learned how to master stress and how to apply the technique’s in order to relieve stress but I also learned stress is good for a person because it’s part of being human. …show more content…

I cannot attribute my desire of becoming a nurse to following the footsteps of a family member, nor caring for a sick family member as I was growing up. I am a first generation high school student, furthermore, a college graduate. I became a mother at the very young age of sixteen. Being so young and growing up without the care of my parents, it was always said I, too, would end up in a rough situation and not be able to care for my child being so young myself. I continued out my days and nights being a high school teen mom. I graduated from high school in three years by attending night school while I was pregnant; allowing me to finish school sooner and obtain a better job that would allow me to take care of my son.
My lifetime goal is to become a Registered Nurse since I was 18 years old, but, unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to go college, but to go to a technical school and get a medical assistant degree. Since then, I worked in many different doctors’ office in Florida as a Medical Assistant until 2 years ago when I met my husband and moved to Maryland. Luckily, with my husband's support, I have been having the opportunity to go back to school and continue my education.
The nursing field gives a person the opportunity to work with and care for elderly, sick, and injured patients. I want to join the registered nurse team because they take on multiple medical settings. Registered nurses are known as RNs. They are responsible for multiple things. Being a RN has a lot of responsibility. The topics I will be covering are: job description, specialties, trends, salary, benefits, and required trainings. These are essential things that a person needs to know before going into nursing school.
Strength can be said to come from a position of having the power to handle a certain situation. As I have been working in healthcare for a while, I have expertise in clinical performance which is my strength. Though it is at times overwhelming, talking to patients and advocating for them is an area I am most comfortable with. I advocate for them by reporting to the nurse a change in a patient’s status and reporting it promptly; whether a patient is hypoglycemic or hypotensive. Being a nursing assistant gives the necessary insight to acknowledge areas that need to be prioritized when dealing with many patients, such as what patient to attend too first. As a nursing student also and working as a patient care associate gives me a better understanding to identify these certain changes.
I have always wanted to help others. Making a notable difference in individuals lives is extremely rewarding and something that resonates with me. It was not until a school trip- “Hand up For Health” which was provided by the NHS, that I gained an insight of nursing and seeing the practical element of nursing while using health & Biology as well and seeing how rewarding the job is. After doing further research and gaining work experience, I realised that child nursing is the profession I want to pursue.
Caring for others has always been a passion of mine, and becoming a nurse has always been my dream. While my dream has turned reality, I can say that nursing has blessed me with the opportunity to not only be a servant to those in my community, but it has also allowed me to be of some comfort to patients and their loved ones during their darkest and most vulnerable moments. Nursing offers a variety of opportunities, where the only restrictions are the ones we set for ourselves. As for myself, all things are possible, for if I want it, I strongly believe it’s already mine. The depths that I will go to reach the latitude of success that I so desire is boundless.
As a responsible and supportive individual I have considerable experience working within the care sector caring for individuals. I am enthusiastic and feel really passionate about working in this sector. Having worked as a registered nurse and perioperative nurse overseas, and the experience I gained here in England as a care assistant in residential homes with dementia patients and adults with learning disabilities, has enable me to realise the interest and passion I have in this sector of nursing. I have a bachelor of science in Public Health that has also broaden my knowledge in some of the issues that contributes to mental health issues, which signifies my understanding of many underlying issues behind mental health problems. I look forward
Providing knowledge to parents to let them know that their child is healthy and safe gives every pediatric nurse a feeling of excitement. This job can be heartbreaking if babies are injured and the possibility of death but it can also be rewarding when providing babies with the will to live. Ever since I was little I knew I wanted to work in the medical field because I’ve always wanted to help people somehow. As I grew older I knew I wanted to be in touch with my patients and spend time with them and help them understand the best ways to take care of themselves, which is why I’ve decided to become a nurse. I actually have to thank NYU for helping me figure out what I want to become as one of the main reasons I started thinking about being a nurse is because I attended an NYU Nursing Seminar and I just loved it, I felt like the nurses that were there greatly described their work and I realized that was exactly what I wanted to do. Another reason for why I want to attend NYU is because I was able to spend time on campus while attending
I want to be a nurse because I want to help people that are hurt sick or could die. I also want to be a nurse because it seems like a good job and not for the money either my mom was a nurse and i want to be like her because she is a good person and I respect her and I also would like to be a nurse because I could help lots of people and I could meet new people everyday.
As a nurse I feel that it is important to be able to account for ones actions. By doing this, I am able to learn from my mistakes if they are made, and able to show responsibility for my actions and why I felt that they were needed.
My mother had deep vein thrombosis. When she was first diagnosed, I had little understanding of her illness. My mom has been suffering with poor circulation in both of her legs for decades. This condition makes it difficult for her to ambulate on a daily basis. I watched her health decrease until she could not bathe or use the toilet by herself. As her only source of help, I had to be her hands and feet. While attending to her she was confined to a wheel chair .I had to assist her to get her around and to take her medications. Caring for my mother made me realized that I wanted to become a nurse the desire to become a nurse grew stronger as I watched my mother suffer. I learned various skills, and I have also acquired knowledge that I believe is relevant to my field of studies.
The moment I realized I wanted to be a nurse was when my wife and I went into the hospital to have our son. Long story short, our first nurse had horrible bedside manner causing my wife to have a nervous breakdown. Later, her shift ended and we had the most wonderful nurse that put my wife at ease. At that moment I realized how much of an impact that I could have on someone who is possibly experiencing the worst time of their life, and possibly help to put them more at ease. I am a truly compassionate person, and the ability to have an impact on a person’s life is what I believe to be my life’s calling. I feel that I was blessed with the ability to remain calm under situations of extreme duress and I believe this would serve me well in my carrier. Lastly, I have the opportunity to be the first in my family to graduate from college setting an example for my son of the importance of an
For as long as I can remember, I've always aspired to become a nurse, a healthcare professional who is always helping patients receive the highest quality care and compassion. As a young child I was often in and out of the hospital, I'd received treatment after treatment and I found myself fatigued by the end of it all. However, receiving high quality care and genuine concern from the nurses made the experience much less excruciating. After I'd learned about that profession as a child I felt that I wanted to do the same for others as those nurses had done for me. Caring for those in need became a passion of mine, and because I know how it feels to be sick in the hospital,
