I understand the path to becoming a physician will be rigorous and demanding, and I have thoroughly evaluated my desire and competence to walk that path. Through various medical and non-medical related experiences, I have deduced that my interest in medicine is sincere and that I have the aptitude to succeed in medical school; however, medicine is not my only interest.

I chose this career because the study of medicine has always interested me, and I know I want to benefit people's health.

Growing up I seen my mom, aunts, uncles and grandfather struggle with the death of my grandmother. Everyday there was a new struggle whether it was getting up to go to work or eat. My grandmother died of breast cancer at the age of fifty two, it devastated my family. The question asked “Is why do I want to go into the medical field?” I want to go into the medical field because I want to be able to make a difference in this world. I want to do research to cure chronic diseases, I want to be able to tell a family that everything will be alright, and I want to be able to save a family the devastation that my family felt.

I was born in a farming family in a small town in southern India. My father worked in the agricultural field for thirty years.  He realized while he was working that his children should receive the best education as he had faced many problems due to his illiteracy. This motivated my father to give me the best education without which I couldn’t have come this far. When I finished  tenth grade, I had to choose either Mathematics or Biology and I opted for Biology as I had an affinity for science since my childhood. I always stood in the top ten of my class. I pursued my medical education at the distinguished institution, Guntur Medical College. I commenced medical school with the aim of becoming an internist.

I have chosen osteopathic medicine as my professional choice in becoming a physician, because I have a passion for the healthcare field and learning, I want to be able to help others and give back to the community and I believe that medicine is evolving towards an osteopathic approach which takes into account the body as a whole. Passion is the driver behind any good physician. I am always looking to learn and improve upon my performance in whatever I am doing. Whether it was undergraduate coursework, medical shadowing, EMT training, or community service I put forth my fullest effort into the task at hand. Every moment in medicine and life in general is a valuable learning experience. Osteopathic medicine will force me outside of my comfort zone and many mistakes will be made along the way, but I look forward to tackling the challenges ahead of me and in the end it will allow me to become the best physician possible.

I feel that the world will always need people in the medical field. I want to discover cures, medicine, and ways to improve the quality of life. I want to be apart of a major breakthrough and reveal new things no one thought would be possible for a long time. I would love to see several changes in medicine and the field such as the prevention of diseases, making the public more aware of fatalities that can occur, and most of all to give people and animals a life that is enjoyable which people in the medical profession are entitled to do everything possible to make that

I did not always want to be a doctor. My interest grew out of witnessing the suffering that health issues have caused to my loved ones, myself, and even complete strangers. When my mother was diagnosed with diabetes our family was disheartened but in the realisation of the long path that lay ahead in managing her lifelong condition I appreciated the hope that doctors gave us - that things could be better even if they were not perfect. I want to give people that hope, and when I discovered my love for science it was only natural that I felt medicine was the best-suited career for me.
