In reflecting about my self-care, I discovered that with the start of nursing school now is a good time to develop a plan to improve my deficit in task prioritization. This will allow me to see how not prioritizing my tasks can lead to ineffective studying, time management, and stress. Smart Goal Organizing my deadlines and my assignments is my first priority. According to Dean Flanagan (2014) after completing reports on news concerns on nursing students clinical rotations he states that it’s best to start with ‘to-do’ lists because it gives you a tracker also a sense of accomplishment when you accomplish one of the tasks. Specific By organizing my tasks, I want to gain a better understanding of what is required of the assignments. I want to develop a method, which will allow me better balance, all curriculum from all of my classes. Identifying key points to every subject will allow me to create a ‘to-do’ list in which I can direct my focus in order to achieve maximum results. I will also be able to create a calendar so that I can have the assignments in the right rotation in order to avoid incomplete work. Measurable The techniques I wish to imply is to be prompt, once in class I will then audio record all lectures in all classes. This allows me to prioritize key points in the curriculum that may be over looked. This will allow me to fill in key lecture points. The above allows me to develop a study guide that focuses on the direct subject matter. This helps me better
Staying organized is essential for success. I suggest you use a calendar to keep track of when assignments are due. Use a planner to keep track of your activities and stay organized. Don’t wait until the last minute to complete assignments since that would only add more pressure to your life. It may also affect the quality of your work. Do you think I’m talking from experience?
I like to have a section for notes, work that is due, and graded papers. Turning work in on time can make organizing easier, which is very important in school.
Workload of the staff nurse can be heavy and in order to decrease stress and avoid burnout, nurses must learn to prioritize. Prioritization is a skill that nurses need to obtain to make the very best use of their time. It is also important because the better nurses can manage and use their time, the less stress they will have because they can do their job when they are supposed to do it. To manage time, nurses “need to create an environment supportive of time management and patient care” (Kelly, 2008, p. 393). To help manage time, nurses must set priorities. Kelly (2008) advices nurses use the “first thing first principle.” When a nurse realizes that certain things are more urgent than others, they can better manage their time to care for their patients in the time necessary. Kelly (2008), explained that

.Make a plan: plan all the work in advance in a timetable as to not stress about the deadline of the assignment (Sasson,2016).
These chronic and systematic harms place a heavy burden financially, logistically, and psychologically. With these three components you will first start managing your time by making a list of your daily schedule followed by responsibility for your assignments and matters. Any decision to leave all of your assignments for another time closer to the deadline will only help to accumulate work that you will end up not having enough time to do. Time is a very important resource in life, so you have to manage very wisely.
Preparing for nursing school could be very stressful. I want to make sure that I am preparing for nursing school in every way. Taking Nursing School Success course has educated me on several different areas that are important to succeed nursing school. Making sure that I am organized and prepared for class early are two tasks out of several that are important as I major in nursing.
“Follow your passion; it will lead you to your purpose,” Oprah Winfrey. My passion leading me to a degree in healthcare management has been the love I have for my son. Becoming a single mother, shortly before my son turned two-years-old, was life altering. Moving back in with my family, realizing I had no income, and no longer the team effort from his father, was an indescribable sense of failure as a parent.
Working as a therapist can be exhausting, but yet, rewarding at the same time. As a therapist we deal with daily encounters of other people’s lives, issues, problems etc. Taking multiple cases of providing therapeutic interventions has an effect on the human body and the psyche. The wear and tear over time begins to haunt us without recognizing how neglectful we can be towards ourselves because our focus is for the sake of other people’s sanity. The profession is hard, and can be detrimental to professionals who do not take care of themselves. Self-care is an important aspect when working as a therapist. Our health, mental health, spiritual values, etc. should matter just as the client’s health, mental health and spiritual values matters
The goal I chose is to live a healthy lifestyle which in terms will add years to my life. In this transformation I chose to eat healthier, exercise more, drink plenty water and add supplements to my personal wellness plan. As I mentioned in a previous post, I found myself with multiple to due list that seemed to be quite overwhelming at times, juggling meeting times for my practicum hours, and the high demands of my own job were challenging to say the least, but proved to be
My calling to nursing started when my father got diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2015. I watched him suffering through radiation and chemotherapy, but what got him through those hard times was the help of some great loving and caring nurses. As I became more involved in taking care of him, my passion for nursing had greatly increased. Now, for nine years, I have maintained a commitment to caring for others in the field of Nursing. Being a registered nurse (RN), I have taken care of one patient at a time, which I have been involved in the amelioration of lives, and have only been left wanting to give and do more. Pursuing a master of science in nursing (MSN) is more than just a logical or natural progression for my career. It is a life choice, one that is backed by highly refined clinical judgments and in-depth exposure to an array of set-ups, and levels of care. In this personal statement, I will deeper highlight an explanation of my career goals, the reasons for my choice of Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) specialization, and lastly the reason for pursuing an advanced degree in nursing.
Nursing school is a huge challenge for many students, accompanied with hours of studying, exam after exam, project after project, taking a great deal of concentration and focus to be successful in nursing school. Along with success comes a need for the student to understand their studying habits, and take advantage of their support systems. Support can come from many different avenues including parents, significant others, friends, co-workers, spouses, even solidarity.
When I first evaluated myself in the study skill academic test, time management was my weakest skill overall. This was priority in terms of skill development because I would always leave things till the last minute and stress myself out trying to turn in things on time. In order to improve this I made a smart goal to carry out in the beginning of the year. Now after some time, the results of my progression are shown. My smart goal that I created for myself regarding my time management planned out very well, I was able to successfully accomplish a majority of my assignments on time. I would review the material of the week on Monday’s and compile all of the assignments due for the week. The monthly calendar was also a key factor in helping me keep up to date in the month so see what where upcoming tasks the following week. If I needed more clarification on certain tasks then I would login and check the syllabus.
The capability to manage multiple assignments is one of the skills I'm able to perform. This skill is required to reduce stress and be able to finish an assignment on time. Based on my experience, by setting your priorities first is an essential part in creating a schedule. For instance, during school I would receive multiple assignments in most of my classes. I would begin to schedule my assignments by interpreting how much time it would take to finish each assignments. Additionally, this will also include due dates and the total points of each task. Moreover, if there was a sudden change in schedule, I would flex my schedule by increasing or decreasing the time duration of each task or by adding or removing an assignment in a day. My experience can demonstrate on how well I can organize my plan accordingly on : time, due dates, and total points. In general, this skill is useful in a work force and its beneficial to other skills such as the strong work value
