I hope the new year is treating you well! This year I am a sophomore at the University of Evansville. I am pursuing a degree in exercise science and hope to one day become a physical therapist. My dream job would be to work in an outpatient physical therapy office. The time I have spent at the University of Evansville has been something I will look back on fondly for the rest of my life. I am involved in numerous campus organizations, such as the exercise science club, physical therapy club, national society of leadership and success, and hall council. My favorite organization is Hall Council, because it has introduced me to some great people that I am proud to be able to call my friends. I also have the privilege to be the vice president for
Growing up, everyone dreamed of what they wanted to become when they got older. As kids people dreamed of becoming astronauts, princesses, or fictional characters. And as people get older, they have an idea of what they want to do for the rest of their lives such as become doctors, lawyers or police officers. Although there are many careers to choose from, but what is most important is picking a career one will be passionate about. One career option out there is physical therapy.
The job I plan on pursuing with kinesiology as my major is to become a physical therapist, which is also known as PT. Their main duty is helping patients rehabilitate with disabling injuries such as fractures, arthritis and low-back pain. Their duty is to help patients their relieve pain, increase mobility, and decrease long-term physical disabilities. Physical therapists focus on the evaluation of strength, balance, range of motion, co-ordination, endurance, and posture of each individual patient. Their patients can range from different age groups from infants to grandparents. The age group would provide a variety of therapeutic exercises for each of the health issues they would have. Depending
As I have almost completed my sophomore year of college, I know what my career goals are at this point. I am currently on the physical therapy track planning to declare the major of exercise science: applied kinesiology. I became interested in PT after hearing many appealing things about it such as: the rapid growth and demand of physical therapists, the purpose it serves, and financial stability that comes along with the rewarding work. I am eager to learn about the functions, progress, and healing of the human body in the most natural manner, and through exercise science my knowledge in this study will certainly grow.

Physical Therapy has become an extremely desirable career within the past ten years, growing steadily each year. The interest generally sparks in students that are athletes and who are interested in the body. However, most prospective students don’t comprehend the time, effort and enormous dedication required to pursue a career in physical therapy. In addition to the ignorance, they also are unaware of the actual description and roles of being a physical therapist. Exploring career choices can be one of the most tasking process that one will come upon. Starting off, I always wanted to be a hairstylist. Years went on, then it changed to nurse, then psychiatrist, and finally settled on what I am now most passionate about, physical therapy. Physical therapy really appeals to me because I love life and I want everyone to be able to live life to the fullest. I want to be there for people who need help getting back on their feet, literally. The working environment for a physical therapist can vary to several places. Some of the most common work environments include rehabilitation facilities, fitness centers, schools, and private practice facilities. Even though the locations physical therapist differ,
Last month I had an injury in my thigh area from playing soccer very aggressive. It happened with me and this other guy slide tackled each other and his leg went into my thigh. 2 days after I played soccer, I told my mom that my leg hurt really bad. She took me to the doctors and the doctor told us that I had a contusion ,plus a quad strain on my right thigh. Then the doctor told me that I had to go to physical therapy(PT) so that they can help my leg get stronger. At first I was scared because the doctor said that for the first week PT might hurt bad ,but then when my leg gets stronger it won’t. This essay will explain what it takes to become a physical therapist and how physical therapy can help patients feel better after they have been injured.
Did you know that most physical therapists see about 30 patients per day with varied injuries? A student who researches the nature of a job, it’s working conditions, employment facts, the education and training requirements, along with the future job potential and earnings will be wiser and more knowledgeable when determining a career path to choose. Physical therapy is an interesting career path because they help people with injuries recover, help people with disabilities achieve highest standard of physical function, and they teach stretches and exercises that allow patients to be active.
Before senior year started I always thought physical therapy would interest me. I have never experienced what it is like to go, but I’ve been with people who had sports accidents. When we were asked where we wanted to intern at I knew that ARI was first on my list. These past few weeks at ARI I have really enjoyed being there with them employees and the clients. I believe coming to ARI coming everyday that it just influences me to want to me a therapist's even more.
Coming to Rutgers University I knew that my major interest would be in Exercise Science and Medicine. One of the reasons I wanted to major in Exercise Science was because of my intentions to become a Physical Therapist. The course work of the Exercise Science programs entails a strong understanding of functional human anatomy, kinesiology, and human physiology, which are all relevant coursework for Physical Therapy school. One major benefit of this major is the senior internship that all students have to find in order to graduate with a B.S. Secondly, another major that interests me but is underrepresented is Nutrition. Ever since I started being conscious about my health and what foods are essential, I found nutritional science profoundly interesting. Nutrition encompasses strong background knowledge in biochemical, physiological, and behavioral processes. This major gives students many marketable opportunities in medicine, dietetics, and clinical research. Finally, the third major that I would consider is Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. This major encompasses many principles of the biological systems as well as supplementing knowledge from Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The spectrum of careers and applications of this major include research in biotechnology and genetic engineering.
Becoming a Physical Therapist is not a easy job but in my opinion it is a good career choice. If I wanted to work in a field of science I would consider this as a choice because not only is it a well paying job you are helping people get better and basically trying to put their body parts back in use.
My professional goal in life is to become a Physical Therapy for disabled and elderly people. Our country has become the Aging Nation. I have many dreams as I grow up, mainly just live a simple life with a husband and kids as that is what I was culturally exposed to. However, when I was transferring to SDSU for Kinesiology, I honestly do not know what do. There are a lot of choices in SDSU, some is easier than others, and some pays better. My best friend Leah told me, that basing on my personality, I should try Physical Therapy. I love working with people, but I want to make a difference without accidentally killing them. That is why nursing is a no go, despite being Filipino and all.
Recently I found myself suspended 500 ft up in the air on the edge of a cliff in Yosemite Valley wondering how I would make my way to the top. My muscles were tense having just hiked seven miles. We had been hiking since four that morning and the trail was much more intense than initially suspected. But as I hung from the rope attached to my harness, I fully realized the importance of good health. The physical, mental, and spiritual strength needed to continue up the mountain came to me and my need of adventure was supported by my good health. As a physical therapist I would strive to help others obtain optimal health through movement so they can better listen to adventures’ call.
For the medical career project I decided to do physical therapy, physical therapy is the restoration of movement and physical function impaired or threatened by disease, injury, or disability. Physical therapists determine a plan for rehabilitation for patients which may include stretching, strength training, exercises and physical manipulation. There has been a significant increase in the demand for physical therapists, the employment of physical therapists is projected to grow 34% between 2014 and 2024. Physical therapy is a very excellent career and has become more intriguing to me during this project and helped me confirm what I want to do in the future even more.
