“I’m pro-responsible choice. There is choice to abstain, choice to do contraception.
There are all kinds of good choices.”
- Sharron Angle
In 1973, Supreme Court made a landmark decision on the Roe v. Wade court case; affirming abortion as a constitutional right for all. This was the beginning of the fight for women’s equality and autonomy. However, women still have been forced to defend their choice against those opposing these decision rights; against politicians and organizations that have dedicated their life to undermining and slowly getting rid of women’s rights until legal abortion is no longer a choice. Each year there have been hundreds of laws restricting women’s constitutional rights; from limiting access to safe, legal

The argument is that having the choice to take a life, weather it’s two weeks or 40 weeks, it is inhuman and murderous. For example, the Created Equal group stated that, “The claim that preborn children are part of women's bodies flies in the face of modern science. Preborn children are dependent upon their mothers, but they are not part of them. They have their own blood type, bone structure, and genetic code. In fact, the notion that the preborn is part of the mother would result in inane conclusions—such as the mother having four arms, four legs, and, in the case of a preborn boy, even male genitalia. We also know there are limits to 'choice.' The autonomy of any one person does not permit her to infringe on the rights of, or endanger, another. For example, the right of a man to do what he wants with his body does not permit him to rape women. And a woman’s right to do what she wants with her hands ends when she uses them to drown her children. Choice, then, is not absolute. Indeed, some choices are wrong: rape, murder, abuse, etc. Since we would not allow a mother to kill her born children by choice, we must not permit her to kill her preborn children for the same reason." I agree that abortion has been abused by women who are not ready for a child because I think that once a woman decides to have sex she is taking that risk of having a child whether she is ready or not. However, if you are one of the 25,000 girls that becomes pregnant through rape or
What is overpopulation? Overpopulation has been defined as a situation where the number of people in an environment exhausts all available resources weakening its needed support. (Morse &Mosher) For years there have been reports of how many people are expected to live on earth by the year 2050, 2075, and so on. However, the question remains as to whether everyone will have a secured spot. Today, in 2017 there have been plenty of fights with the scarcity of resources, where overpopulation becomes the topic of conversation. However, to solve this issue the option of abortion was brought to the forefront by scientists and advocates such as Dan Savage who mentioned that abortion should be mandatory for the next 30 years in or to control the
Abortion is a very controversial topic in the world today, it deals with ending pregnancies in women. It became a highly debatable topic after the 2016 election, bringing in new laws to the states. As a result, planned parenthood has been a crucial factor on this topic. In fact, people are either for or against abortion, making them either pro-choice or pro-life. Abortion has its cons and pros for women who decide on getting an abortion. In Texas, abortion laws have changed, making it more difficult for women to undergo the procedure. That being the case, are the states trying to make it harder for women to get an abortion?
The vast majority of people in the United States support the rights of woman and men alike. This right makes them free to pursue dreams of happiness and freedom, to do as they choose as long as it does not infringe on the rights of other “humans.” That is honestly the root of the issue with abortion in this country; we firmly believe in the rights of humans, but we treat a fetus as if it was none human. Science has proven through deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) that an unborn baby is indeed human, so if it is human then the only remaining question would be, “When is the fetus alive?” To find the answer, one must first start with the end in mind. This proposal will do just that, start at the end to explain the beginning and through a small amount of compromise, the abortion controversy will be solved with a common sense and responsible approach.
There is a threat going on right now against women’s rights that many people might not know about. Women need to take charge and not let another day of a pregnancy go by where there is not a choice available to end things that might have happened accidentally, so the life of the woman can stay happy, healthy, and moving towards a life that the woman desires. The threat that clearly needs brought to attention is one involving abortions. The government, and to clarify more specifically the House of Representatives, has begun to pass a bill that will limit the time frame that women can receive a safe abortion. This bill passed through the House already and is more correctly called the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (Unites States).
Currently in the United States, abortion among many other topics is controversial and causes an uproaring due to the many divergent opinions. The argument behind abortion in America is that when a woman goes and follows through with the procedure, it is viewed as murder in the eyes of many. Religious groups tend to lean towards anti-abortion, and see abortion as a ‘sin’ due to their beliefs, which causes unavoidable debates.
As we all know that abortion has become a very common practice in today’s world. According to CDC, there has been 219 abortion average reported on 1000 live birth ("CDC - Data and Statistics - Reproductive Health," n.d.). Those abortions were legally induced. It is becoming hard for a lot of nurses to stay or contribute to second trimester abortions. A lot nurses have quit their jobs because of witnessing this traumatic events. Currently in Florida, it is prohibited to abort pass 24 weeks in gestation unless there is a life threatening condition persist in a mother and also illegal at any stage if the doctors determined that the fetus is viable. Unfortunately, in some states abortion are allowed till second semester end("Guttmacher Institute
In addition to fetus’s not being a life, another stance is that there should be no regulations on when a woman can get an abortion because as a society we should assume the best of women. It should be assumed that women who choose to have an abortion do it for the right reasons, and are not deciding to have an abortion just because they can. However not all women choose to have an abortion for the right reason, but ultimately it is their decision. Everyone should be allowed to choose what they want to do with their bodies. The women who have abortions for the wrong reasons such as spite, should not influence the overall decision of if women should be allowed to have an abortion. In a similar context, after the terrorist attack on September 11th, 2001, many people decided to categorize all muslims as terrorists based on the fact that the attacker was of the same religion. But just because one woman has an abortion for the wrong reason does not mean all women will, which is why there should be no regulations since every circumstance varies.
Abortion has become a social issue in the united states and it is because there is an argument weather human rights should be given to the unborn children, but wanting to take away the option for abortion is taking away rights from women. Abortion is an extremely sensitive topic for many people, mostly for woman and religious people. There is controversial arguments between pro-life; those who believe abortion should be illegal and with pro-choice; those who believe abortion should be up to the woman to decide. An abortion usually needs to take place during the first three months of the pregnancy. Doctors have to methods to completed the procedure; the most common one being suction curettage which involves removing the fetus from the womb by scarping the woman’s uterus. The other method is by taking a pill which causes the body to block the hormone progesterone which helps with the development of the embryo.
In the United States, there is a right to have an abortion. The right to have an abortion affects not only women, but everyone. Some believe that the act of having an abortion is murder, yet, others do not believe anything to be wrong with abortion. The act of abortion has been an issue for many years. Is abortion “murder,” or is murder off the table, since the fetus is too young for developmental stages. Women of all ages have the right to abortion; yet should it be legal? Abortion is a significant topic, because many do not know whether they are killing an actual living being or not. The answer is not white and black. The fetus will become a person one day, but having an abortion would destroy the fetus, stopping its growth. In the US,
Abortion is constantly called on for being a crime and should become illegal. Abortion is considered wrong during late term pregnancy although, the woman's life is being threatened the more she progresses towards the time she is due. Women who are in life threatening position during their pregnancy should have the right towards abortion. Due to the women being inefficient towards continuing further on in their pregnancy. Also, the women should be allowed the right to abort because it is still their own body and at the end of the day it should still come down to their decision. Another important reason that abortion should be legal is that some women were not even allowed the choice to conceive due to being abused and raped.
Each year, nearly 1.2 million American women have an abortion to end pregnancy (Abortion Topic Oveview). Whether one is pro-abortion or pro-life, every single abortion ends the life of an innocent human being . Abortions can range from several hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on the woman’s circumstances(Abortion Facts). A female should not have an abortion because of the effects, bibical reasons, and the life she has to endure after making that decision.
To begin, there has always been a huge issue with the topic of abortion, why? Well, it’s a tough subject and can get extremely emotional and very defensive. Honestly, people just need to open up their eye’s and understand that it's murder and not just a choice. It is murder because two can create a blessing and the choice of aborting it, is more like a sacrifice for the reason a mother can’t carry a baby for nine months. Whether a person is a teen, young adult, or an adult and is in a horrible situation that believes they cannot proceed with the pregnancy, they should know there are other options. Teens aborting an unborn baby is not a choice and should be banned because it is wrong without parental consent, the rights of a child, and it’s murder.
The abortion debate is still alive today and branches out all over the world, from developing countries that have improper medical care to the most developed countries where everyone is well off and provided everything they need and want. In an academic journal, known as “Abortion Debate,” these issues are expressed. It’s already been established that laws on abortion are different all over the world. In some places, like Northern Ireland, abortion is illegal unless the woman in question is in danger for being pregnant. Then, in places like Greece, there are no restrictions on abortions as long as it’s a set number of weeks gestation. In Greece, this number is up to twelve weeks. After that abortion is not an option. While abortion is available in Western Europe, the rate is lower than that in Africa, where it is illegal. In places like this, women are forced to go under illegal procedures to abort their unborn child. For this reason, many believe that abortion needs to be legal to provide safe procedures for those seeking one. Now on to America; many U.S. citizens think abortion, while legal, needs restrictions. Those restrictions varying from health reasons to how many weeks of gestation a woman can be up to. 26% of Americans want abortion to be legal no matter the reason. 56% think there need to be restrictions. Then 17% believe abortion needs to be illegal. These 17% have used many tactics to stop abortion, one of those ways being making getting an abortion more difficult. This means raising prices, putting
Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy. We are in a world where abortion seems to be the right decision a teenager would choose, but do not know the consequences. Teen abortion should not be allowed because young girls do not understand abortion causes health risks and mental anxiety.
It is exactly 11:00am on October 27th, 2017 and the recorded number of abortions that happened today alone in the U.S. is 1,165, and the day isn’t even halfway over yet. Over the course of the whole year so far there have been 761,863 and that number is only going up. World-wide for this past year has been about 1,450,000 abortions; that is over 1,450,000 lives that could’ve been saved and had a chance at life in this world (Number of Abortions). These numbers consist of mostly surgical abortions; they have not added the tally for chemical abortions. An abortion is a surgical or medical procedure to terminate a pregnancy. There are three different types of abortions: surgical and medical, partial birth, and late term abortions. Furthermore, there are different procedures for each of the different types of abortion, but they consist of surgical, medical, and chemical. Those who oppose abortion are pro-life. I believe that a fetus has rights even though it is not born yet, I am pro-life. With more knowledge that will be provided about what an abortion is, the problem with abortion, and what solutions and alternatives that are out there will prove these rights of a fetus and they should be given the opportunity at life.
