It is no secret that exercise is one of the key ingredients to a long and healthy life and this is also true for our pets. Unlike Humans, Cats do not need to do 20 minutes of aerobic exercise 3 times a week to stay in shape. Nor do they need to be walked several times a day like dogs, but they do need to lead an active life. It is a challenge not only for ourselves but also our furry feline pets to get off the couch and engage in some sort of cat fitness that will increase heart rates and provide a good workout.
Outdoor Cats get all the exercise they need, exploring, chasing leaves, birds, flying insects, climbing trees and just being themselves-curious, stalking and attacking pretend or real prey which includes scratching, clawing, chasing, and climbing. There are seldom "fat cats" ever found whom enjoy the outdoors.
"Feline Obesity" is more of a concern with indoor Cats, however they can also be healthy and content, provided they get exercise in other forms. It can help if your indoor cat has a companion pet and if you can encourage them to play for an hour or so each day, such as chasing each other or running after and swatting toys etc. As well, Cats' exercise best when they are doing something that is natural to them, like predatory acts, stalking or climbing etc. However, it is going to take some effort on your behalf to ensure that your pet participates in your cat fitness program.

A person is thinking of getting a pet to be his companion and to entertain his kids, but he has encountered a predicament: they choose a mediocre feline or a magnificent canine. While there are many advantages of each option, the dog is a better option for companionship, protection, and loyalty.
Canadian scientists believe that owning a cat can help lower levels of a chemical compound called triglyceride, which causes high cholesterol.
Denver followed the footsteps of California as it implemented an ordinance that bans the declawing of its feline friends, an initiative that has brought joy towards cat owners and veterinarians. In the process, Denver became the first US city outside California to ban the procedure that has caused nothing but pain and stress towards cats, and it was easy for the city to implement the said ban as the council supported the measure in the past weeks. A unanimous vote became the proverbial icing on the cake for the ordinance.

The deeper I dig into animal abuse , the more I want to become a vegetarian. But it is not easy as it seems. The things that I have seen and read makes me sick to my stomach. To watch a hopeless cow, get whipped , is sickening. Watching baby Chicklets die in a big machine , brings tears to my eyes. Millions of animals every day die cruel deaths , and I no longer want to be an accomplice to the crimes. While it may be hard to retrain myself , I should and intend to just stop eating meat.
Perfect Paws Intro sentence. When casually browsing cable television during the day you're bound to come across one of those sad ASPCA commercials. You turn the channel, mute the commercial or sit and watch. Why would anybody in their right mind do such a thing to an animal? But, what you might not know is, you’re probably doing it right now.
Veterinarians not only provide healthcare for cats of all ages, but are often the first stop for a caregiver or concerned citizen needing assistance with community cats. The public looks to you for information, advice, and guidance in assuring that cats are healthy and that they can live full, happy lives in their outdoor homes. You put the “N” in TNR. You are an essential element in Trap-Neuter-Return for community cats by performing the surgical portion of the program. You have a powerful voice in the fight to protect and improve cats’ lives. What do you think is better, a dog or a cat? Different people like different things. Your choice is affected by where you live, who you live with, and other circumstances. There are bad things about cats and dogs; however, there are pros also.
A cat’s lifespan is dependent on several owner maintenance factors and genetics. Cats that are spayed or neutered and live indoors have the longest life expectancy. They are less likely to have tragic deaths caused by traffic accidents, fights with predators, or exposure to lethal chemicals and diseases. Providing a cat with a well balanced diet based on their individual needs will add years to their life. Regular vaccinations and veterinarian care will reduce the risk of feline diseases and can lead to early detection of health conditions.
A social issue impacting our community and many others around the world, is the epidemic of homeless pets. According to ASPCA, “Approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.” This statistic only seems to be accounting for dogs and cats, which make up a large number of animals entering shelters, but definitely not all of them. Livestock, reptiles, birds, small mammals, and even fish should not be forgotten. I have personally seen all of these animals end up in shelters. Care for the animals that end up in county animal shelters comes out of our taxes, so everyone paying taxes is affected. Because shelters are receiving so many animals, finding one with the promise of rehoming rather than euthanasia and willing take more animals can be hard. Sometimes people simply cannot keep their pets and must find another place for them to go. A death sentence for a beloved pet is not an opinion most families, or individuals, want to choose. The ones who are most affected by this are the animals. Animals are often put in crowded shelters, euthanized due to lack of room or funds in shelters, left to live on the streets, etc. This problem is furthered by animal breeders, people accidently allowing their animal to breed, and people purchasing animals on a whim without doing proper research on the care required, and later having to surrender the animal.
Cats came to the United States from Europe. They came from Egypt before that, and they were treated very special in Egypt because one of their gods was a cat. This is when they got domesticated, which was almost 4,000 years ago. Even though they have been domesticated they still do what every living thing does. In order for cats to survive they must get energy, move and grow, adapt to the environment protect themselves and reproduce.
Many pet owners perceive to say that having a pet is the best thing in the whole world. In the United States, about 63% of households have a furry friend to call their own. They come in many different colors and sizes that make them unique and fun to play with. However, owning a pet anywhere can be very controversial. Some people think that owning a pet can throw away most their money that they earn on a day to day basis. Even if that might be true, pets can also benefit people in many ways that is worth spending a little extra money. In my opinion, I think that everyone should have a pet of their own because they can improve health, can provide entertainment, and create a special friendship or companionship with its owner. (6)
For centuries, humankind has enjoyed the unconditional love and companionship of pets. Inclusively, dogs have been stated as “man’s best friends.” By far, pets have become a bigger role in people’s lives. Consequently, pet ownership has turned out to be more popular through the years. Owning a pet can be one of the most rewarding experiences, but there is a fact that many individuals may not know. From what kind of places are people obtaining their pets? The two most presumed options are narrowed down to either buying at a pet store or adopting from a shelter. Even though people can get a pet from either option, there are many reasons why adopting is undoubtedly a smarter choice. Animal shelters serve for a bigger purpose, and that is to help the community and its animals. Prospective pet owners should choose pet adoption because of its health, economic, and life benefits.
Shouldn’t all animals have the right to live? Dogs could receive and give happiness if they were not put down. Animals do not really have a chance to actually live life. Many places simply do not have enough room for all of the animals, so they resort to euthanasia to control the population. There are many dogs and cats that are euthanized only because they take up room.
