Persuasive Essay On Marijuana

Marijuana, is a drug from the Cannabis plant that is intended for medical or recreational use. The main part of cannabis and what makes it so dangerous is THC one of the many known chemicals in the plant. Cannabis can be used in many ways including smoking, ingestion through food, or as an extract. My name is Timur Krapivin and I was caught being under the influence of drugs on school grounds. The specific drug that I was caught with was marijuana in the form of an edible. A weed brownie is one of the many forms that marijuana comes in. I regret everything that I did and now know that my decision was very wrong and could have harmed the ones I cared about the most. The substance Abuse Intervention Program really helped me realize how dumb I was for taking this drug. I put my friends and family in danger because it was my first time and I didnt know what was going to happen or how my body would react to it. The main reason for why I did this drug is because I was curious and wanted to try something new. I know now that this decisions was very irresponsible and dumb. I will definitely think before I act now and use the problem solving skills that I learned in the class. I will make better decisions in the future because I want to be able to reach my goals and have a successful life. I can't do these things by wasting my life on drugs. Marijuana is a very dangerous drug, it affects our community in many ways, and has a long history behind it.

Legalizing marijuana is a controversial topic within the country. Those who disagree with legalizing marijuana compare marijuana to harsh drugs such as cocaine, heroin, and even ecstasy.

“Weed is addictive and is gateway drug. You shouldn’t smoke it.” This is a common misconception about Marijuana that a variety of people believe. This is because they do not know the history of it and what is in the Marijuana that makes it, what people say is “addictive.” They also probably do not know that there are disadvantages and advantages of using Marijuana. At the end of the day, it is really the choice of the user. But people should become more aware of where Marijuana originated from, what it is made from and the pros and cons of smoking it if they choose to.

A very common argument is whether or not medical marijuana should be legal throughout our country. As some states choose to be legal, more research is being done to show the impact that it is made. Many worry that it will do more damage than good, giving people to opportunity to abuse it. What we need to be paying attention to is the effect it has on people with diseases, the money involved, and whether or not it is proving itself. I will argue that medical marijuana should become legal in all states of the United States of America.

In a few states including Maine has passed a law making the use of recreational marijuana acceptable. Although marijuana is legal in Maine the use of marijuana is still federally illegal. There already seems like there could be trouble, right? Well this is only one of many problems resulting from the “Yes” vote for the marijuana referendum. Police are servilely impacted when something is legal from a state law but the federal government say it is still not acceptable.

In out society drugs are considered to be addictive and lethal. People tend to abuse drugs regardless of their side effects. In many cases government agencies regulate their use. Also there are drugs that are illegal to use, produce and sale. One of those illegal drugs is marijuana. For thousands of years, marijuana has been used to treat a wide variety of sickness. It became illegal in 1937 under The Marijuana Stamp Tax Act. This act prohibits the use, sale and growing of marijuana. It was made illegal because no one understood why smoking marijuana made people feel the way they did and because appropriate researches had not been conducted about it. There was an magazine I read doing this research called ‘Hightimes’, stating that “Under the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, marijuana is classified as a Schedule I drug”, which means it would have potential for high chances of abuse. Pretty much stating that the chances of people get on marijuana get hooked, become addicts and dominate their lives are very high. This unquestionably happens in some cases. Overall, marijuana has a bad reputation in several people’s eyes because of only the few percentage of individuals that do not like the idea of making marijuana legal. The fact is that marijuana serves many great uses other than smoking. The stereotype of a marijuana smoker is that they are lazy, fat, ethnic, or a hippie. The truth is that marijuana is a drug that releases endorphins into the brain just like nicotine, alcohol, and tobacco. I believe that there are many positives to the total legalization of marijuana . Throughout the world there are many prosperous and great nations that do not outlaw marijuana.

There are some disadvantages that come with the plant, but are outweighed by all the benefits it is capable of.

By looking at all of the upcoming and new research one can see the major breakthrough that marijuana has made in the last few years. Marijuana has always had a bad rep because it has been to known to get people into major trouble, and it has also been known to be a gateway drug. A gateway drug is drug that will open up people to trying new drugs that are much worse for them. Rather than assume that the drug is just like any other on the street, one should look at all of the benefits this drug has to offer.
