3A) Personally, my greatest talent or skill would have to be that of a determined progressivist towards impossible perfectionist; simply stating, being a determined progressivist allows me to make assurances of whether my assignments, applications, or any other important task are done towards completion. Whatever obstacle I face on this ever-changing path of life, I always refute the option to give in and fail. Most of those who do face these types of challenges typically give in, quit, and find a more elementary occupation to fulfill what they could have been; however, I had never faced a challenge in which itself had made me stressed to the point of submission and of defeat. Even if the odds are stacked against me, I do not let those odds topple over and convince me to concede. This skill was one that I had to truly develop throughout the entirety of my life. There were countless opportunities and influences that would have pushed towards me to recede and let others take the chance. The reason as to why this skill is truly dear to my own being is due to the fact that the majority of others feel content with what seems to be more simple to complete. This is what sets me apart from everyone else who has the same aspirations likewise to myself. This skill, unfortunately, had always suffered from negligence and had been overshadowed by more pretentious and immediate occupations. Not many things in life stay the say anymore. You can expect one thing to happen but then all of a sudden its turns out totally different. There is a quote that kind of speaks to me from a movie called forest Gump “life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you’re going to get”. It’s so true but we as humans, we adapt we take on these changes and we adapt to them. I’m going tell you about a big change for me about seven years ago the move that changed many things for me.
The last time I saw Charlie outside prison walls we were on the run. Charlie was on the run, not I, I just went along for the ride because he was my husband. Charlie was on parole, but he loved to drink his booze. In our state it's a violation to drink while on parole.
Change is an idea best characterized by the evolution of one object, or one point in time, to another. In the three essays, ¨Shooting an Elephant”, written by George Orwell, “The Lottery”, by Shirley Jackson, and “Get It Right: Privatize Executions” by Arthur Miller, all show the subject of change through different lights. The pieces reveal the need for a modification, be it in self, community, or in the world, and that these transformations will only happen if someone makes a motion for it to occur. Change can and will only happen if initiated.
In conclusion gangs are a violent reality that people have to deal with in today's cities. What has made these groups come about? Why do some kids feel that being in a gang is an acceptable and prestigious way to live? There are many different theories to these questions. On the surface, gangs may appear to be shallow and materialistic; a result of human beings' personal wants, but there are speculations that are more profound. In reference to the way humans are influenced in society, there is valid evidence to distribute blame at negative forces of economic disadvantages, capitalism, and the media.
Constant controversy, immaturity at its finest, an American flag, a little blue birdy logo, a verified checkmark, more than 44 million followers, little elementary school arguments with Kim-Jong-un; the list goes on. If you are still unaware of what I am referring to, it is the twitter account of the current President of the United States (POTUS), Donald J. Trump. This man is one of the largest and most active gatekeepers in the realm of social media. Generally, one would assume information posted in a tweet from the POTUS would undoubtedly be accurate. How could that ever not be a reputable source? Why even bother to do some of your own research? Unfortunately, this is not the reality we live in; not everything presented to us through news, government or media is true and thus, everything you hear today requires a conduction of your own research prior to accepting anything as true. To be completely honest, if you did not know I was referring to the POTUS, you are probably in a much better position than his 44 million followers, as you have successfully managed to avoid one of the many gatekeepers/media outlets whose employed methods entail the plaguing that come with the concept post-truth politics. Though, you must keep in mind that is just one of the many outlets, as this concept is currently taking place all over the world. You, along with the rest of the population are essentially forcibly subjected to fake news every single day of your waking life whether you choose to believe it or not. On September 10, 2016, The Economist published an article titled “The Post Truth World: Yes, I’d lie to you.” The article claims the reality of the current political world; a reality The Economist suggests the general population is ignorant of. The article is severely opinionated and due to the multitude of reasons provided in support of their argument, many of which substantiated with an abundance of factual evidence, the authors were very convincing in their contention that post-truth politics are to be with us for many years to come unless changes are made immediately.
Gay discrimination is a major problem that affects individuals all across the country. The Defense of Marriage Act needs to be repealed. First, the Defense against Marriage Act will be explained and then why it needs to be repealed, then the effects the law has on society.
Is it really worth going to college, owing hundreds of dollars in order to get a degree in a profession to become successful and experienced in the real world? Today, as tuition costs increase students are questioning whether college is fit for them or not. For one, college can be really expensive, for example at the University of Minnesota for an undergraduate during the academic year of 2011-2012, the cost for one credit was $448.08 and $5,825 for a total of thirteen or more credits (“Undergraduate tuition”). A high school graduate that does not have a job may not necessarily have money so the only way to pay would be to take out loans and apply for financial aid. So is it not
Our society is composed with different people, along with their different personalities and with strong opinions conflict is likely to occur. People love to stand up for what is right in their opinions, but who actually knows the right answer? Misconceptions and misunderstandings can lead to controversial outcomes. Instead of going against each other, we need to unite and represent each other as one. The most popular and common way to do this is by citing the pledge of allegiance or by singing the National Anthem. However is this anthem actually representing the people and uniting us together? Many people argue that kneeling during the National Anthem can be disgraceful or patriotic. This action is patriotic because it is being done to call attention to social injustices. It creates a voice for the people who are not heard, and it is a peaceful way to protest.
Recently, the idea of global warming has been under fire by people who claim it to be a hoax. Even “President-elect Donald Trump said Sunday that “nobody really knows” whether climate change is real” (Eilperin). Even with skepticism, the largest problem facing the world in coming years will undoubtedly be environmental issues. All across the globe, millions of people and thousands of communities feel the effects of global warming and deforestation daily. Whether through a loss of water, rising sea levels, or even a decrease in agriculture, the world is changing and suffering as a result.

It does not matter how well made a product is, if nobody knows about it, then it will not sell. In order to make this well made product sell, one must advertise its usefulness and practicality to the correct audience. This targeted advertising is a very exact science, and if a company miscalculates on the smallest part of their market research and advertisement placement, then it will not succeed in selling the product or idea. One example of a well placed and persuasive ad can be found on the fifth page of the August 4th edition of Sports Illustrated.
On September 5, 2017, Matt Harrell, passionately presented on whether or not it was ethical to use Hellfire, Brimstone, and Damnation as fear tactics to get people to behave morally. Harrell took the stance that this was unethical and I agree with him. It is unethical to threaten people with hell and damnation to try and convince them to behave morally. It is also inhumane to frighten people with hellfire and brimstone. This is not The Gospel of Jesus Christ and street corner preachers who harshly call out the sins in those passing by are not accurately representing God. No one in this universe is without sin; therefore none of us should be the first one to cast a stone at another brother or sister.
