Personal Standpoint
The most popular ways of generating power are natural resources (fossil fuels) such as oil and coal. These fuels are becoming more and more unobtainable in recent years. Many people have become aware of this and have made an effort in fixing this by creating new ways of generating power we call this renewable energy. There are many different types of renewable energy such as solar, wind, hydro and geothermal, these methods of energy generation are called sustainable energy. Natural resources however are unsustainable and are predicted to run out by 2050 and shall then be unobtainable for a very long time.
There are many benefits as to using renewable energy rather than natural resources. One of the biggest benefits is less air pollution. With natural resources the main way of obtaining the energy is burning the resource. In doing this there is a mountain of pollution added to the atmosphere this can add to global warming which will also be destroying the polar ice caps and most of the snow up north. There are many different ways that we use natural resources such as factories in which we burn a plethora of coal to generate enough energy to run the machines inside so not only are they adding to global warming by burning the resources but the machines also add to it. Another way we add to global warming is the fuel in our cars which is burned in the engine and emitted out of the exhaust and we use them daily which does not seem bad as they do not produce
The Alternative energy industry in the United States has been at a steady rate of growth for the past decade, however there is still controversy over the use of renewable energies, their impact on the economy, and their impact on the environment. As controversial as the topic is, the argument boils down to a moral need to support environmental regulations, and an economical need to sustain domestic growth in the Energy industry of the United States. Mainly, the question is can alternative energy effective replace fossil fuels? There are of course arguments for both sides of this question.
As the Law of Conservation states, energy can be neither created nor destroyed (The Secret Lives of Energy). That means that an energy source has to be use in order to generate the energy needed. It is common knowledge that the pollution caused by the use of fossil fuels over time is making society live in a contaminated world. In addition, the cost of the use of fossil fuels is increasing and becoming too expensive, forcing people to find alternate ways in which they can pay less for the use of energy. The use of fossil fuels over time has increased to a point where the remaining reservoirs have decreased by a large margin. On the other hand, renewable energy is
Renewable resources can be used as things that come naturally within Earth and will not run out; including but not limited to solar power, wind power and hydroelectric power. According to Document B, “BP’s (British Petroleum) intention to step up investments in solar energy.” , “WIth twice the fuel economy and half the CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions of conventional cars.” (talking about the world’s first hybrid electric car), and finally “Denmark now generates (some) of its electricity from wind power and ... from the combustion of agricultural waste.”. Using any and all of these renewable resources can be the start to a new beginning of the end of fossil fuels.
Now we mostly use fossil fuels and natural gas to produce energy. But these sources are running out. To save our planet we should use a new class of renewable energy sources, like wind turbines, solar panels, biofuels and hydrogen. Because our need for power is constantly increasing in the future we will have to produce more energy, which is associated, among other things, with greater emissions of CO2 and further pollution of the environment and global warming. Most likely oil is going to be the first one that’s not going to be sufficient enough to satisfy our needs in the future. To transition to alternative sources of energy would require a rapid expansion of those sources. Now alternative sources of energy playing a small percent of the world’s energy. To transition we would have to triple or quadruple that percentage.
Is coal power the best option for Australia, as current ‘green’ energy options are unable to support our power needs now and into the future.
In conditions when both technologies and our needs require more and more energy, it is impossible to count only on natural resources and to think that their reserves are unlimited. This is not true. We have learned to receive electricity from irreplaceable resources – oil, gas, also from replenished - water, wind, sun. But the energy of the sun or wind is not enough for today’s rythm of our civilization. And hydroelectric and thermal power plants are not as clean and economical for the modern rhythm
Specific Purpose Statement: To persuade my audience that that solar power should become the main form of alternative energy in the Unites States.
As of the current time period with growing population people around the world need electricity to come out of the darkness. Many natural and man-made resources have been used to overcome this effect. But why there are many people around the world don’t have access to electricity; living in the darkness? Nuclear power, the most efficient way to generate electricity have been of minimal use. The governments cannot effort to install nuclear power because of the cost and the regulations. But why let the people suffer when there is a greener way. Nuclear power should be viewed from a different aspect because of the efficiency and the minimal effect caused to the environment instead on relying on coal and other resources with less efficiency.
When the new Southeast Polk High School opened they added many new energy saving products. This included installing geothermal heating under the high school cutting back on the cost of heating such a large building. Many new windows help save on energy used to light the building along with automatic lights that turn off after several minutes without movement. The new high school shows how easy it is to save money and help the environment. Renewable energy is good for all aspects of the U.S, providing jobs, economical growth, environmental cleanliness, and new research for improving energy efficiency. Therefore the United States should use renewable energy to benefit the economy and environment.
Renewable energy may seem like a daunting task, but the benefits to humanity could be incredible. Public uses of renewable energy range from transportation all the way to heating and cooling. Everything we use could become less explosive and less expensive. Cities with a high concentration of people could become safer and healthier places to live. Transportation could be converted to electricity dramatically, improving smog conditions. Global warming may or may not
The world around us mostly runs on fossil fuels in order to produce electricity; however, there will be a period that comes where we will run out of those fossil fuels. We only have so much time before a crisis hits and we have nothing left to produce the energy we need. In order for our country to produce the energy and electricity we need, we must do something about it. As a country, we must figure out how we can make the switch to using more renewable energy before it is too late and we run out of fossil fuels.
As the world population rises, we are using more and more energy and it is depleting faster than ever. Our fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) will not last forever and at some point we will have to switch over completely to renewable energy sources. While most of the world still uses non-renewable energy sources, the future will rely on renewable energy and its applications. Right now, over 90% of the world still uses fossil fuels and developing countries even burn wood to generate energy. At the rate we are using our fossil fuels, they will not last us far into the 22nd century. Additionally, big consumers of fossil fuels like China, U.S., Russia, and India are creating large amounts of pollution and it is only increasing. For instance, India has major issues with pollution because of heavy traffic (which releases more fuel emissions into the air), the burning of biomass (wood and other organic matter), and runoff into lakes and rivers. Right now, our biggest goal should be to figure out how to implement more forms of renewable energy in our own society. We should start using renewable energy in America because: it is more environmentally friendly, opens up the job market, and improves the health of the public.
Renewable resources are also known as alternative energy sources. Alternative Energy is any source of energy that can be renewed (Issit). Renewable Energies include hydrogen fuel, biomass fuel, hydropower, solar power, geothermic energy, and nuclear power. Hydrogen fuel is an amalgamation of hydrogen and oxygen which is used to produce electricity (Issit). Biomass fuel is made from materials which have already been used, such as compost, and can be used to generate electricity (Issit). Hydropower can be created through moving water or wind to generate electricity (Issit). Using sunlight to produce electricity is called solar power (Issit). Geothermic energy is energy made by the heat under the earth’s mantle (Issit). Nuclear power is
Geothermal Energy The human population is currently using up its fossil fuel supplies at staggering rates. Before long we will be forced to turn somewhere else for energy. There are many possibilities such as hydroelectric energy, nuclear energy, wind energy, solar energy and geothermal energy to name a few. Each one of these choices has its pros and cons.
Energy is a crucial necessity and with the ever increasing need for it and the high and fluctuating prices of oil, researchers are constantly coming up with newer and more sophisticated alternative sources of energy. However, energy comes at a cost, as it is either expensive or it possesses high health risks. This essay presents the concept of energy by discussing the two major types of energy, the various forms it could take, including renewable sources of energy, energy conservation and above all it talks about the safest and cleanest alternatives.
