Unfortunately, it doesn’t hide the fact that visitors may unintentionally or intentionally lead to the death of an animal by feeding (despite warnings) or by introducing foreign bodies into the enclosure. There are many cases in where visitors intentionally mess with the animals to receive reactions, that is through throwing objects or calling to them. In 1874, when the Philadelphia Zoo opened, a sloth was poked to death by the walking sticks and umbrellas of visitors within a week (“From Zoo Cage”). Zoos need to start taking into consideration the intent of humans on seeing the animals and that the animals being so close to humans will negatively affect their health. Another cause for the physical health deterioration of animals in captivity
Zoos may seem fun to visit and exciting to see the animals; but what you don’t see is the suffering and depression that lies in these helpless creatures. There are many arguments whether or not zoos are good or bad, and if they should be removed or kept. Several think that zoos should be abolished or at least very much improved, due to animal cruelty. While, others want zoos to stay because it is beneficial for the animals and people. I strongly believe that zoos aren’t good for both the public and animals for numerous reasons.
For this persuasive speech, I needed to pick a topic that I was passionate about. I wanted to be able to persuade people to see my side on an issue that I truly cared about. I stumbled across a topic that I wrote a research paper on last semester, and I knew this was the topic that I needed to use in my speech: abolishing zoos. I asked a few questions to my classmates to gauge their support or dislike for zoos. I then took these results and figured out exactly who my target audience was, and what kind of speech I would be giving. The following analysis goes over the results from my survey and explains what these results mean in terms of my speech.
The first modern zoo to be founded was in Vienna, Madrid and Paris in the eighteenth century and later on in London and Berlin in the nineteenth century. The first zoo to be established in America was in Philadelphia and Cincinnati in the 1870s. In today’s America there are thousands of zoos. Humans like to be entertained regardless of how they are being entertained, whether that is walking through the park, watching a show, listening to music or simply going to the zoo. There are truth behind zoos that many don’t see, for example, many zoos don’t show the death rates that many zoo animals have after being transported from their natural habitants or the experiences that the zoo keepers provide to the animals being kept in captivity. To what extent are we okay with animals being tortured or being aware that animals are being killed just so humans can be entertained? While there are benefits to keeping animals in captivity, scholars agree that there are more negative effects that are damaging to the animals. The purpose of zoos can be more than just keeping animals in captivity and creating significant health or mental problems, zoos also can have a positive outcome, zoos can help keep endangered animals safe from others who are trying to kill them for what they are worth. Jamieson explains and gives one example of when people started putting animals in captivity. The Romans is the example that Jamieson uses, the Romans “kept animals in order to have living fodder for games.” Jamieson continued to explain how over the years the use of animals historically grew in popularity and how the idea continued to “thrive until at least the eight century.” Jamieson also mentioned that keeping a large amount of animals showed who had power.

The sight of an unfamiliar animal can be a welcome distraction, even a short-term remedy, for a sick child. But you can't put a leash and a surgical mask on a rhino and march it through the front door of a hospital for a visit. That's why zoos and aquariums across the U.S. are teaming up with pediatric hospitals. They are beaming in video footage of sea otters getting their teeth brushed, tiger cubs getting belly rubs, and pandas munching on bamboo.
I have gathered you here today to inform you about an issue that means a lot to me and should mean a lot to you too. I grew up an animal lover, i love interacting and taking care of them. Before i tell you the issue i want you to take in consideration the lives of these animals and forget about your selfish wants, to stare, poke, and prod at them. These animals that live in zoos, are not happy, here's why. There is not enough space, zoos fuel capacity, and zoos mistreat the animals. The issue is getting worse by the minute please support my cause. Donate to the NNZZ.
When zoos claim to show ‘’natural animal behavior’’ the zoos actually are not showing natural behavior because the animals have nowhere else to go then what they are enclosed to. If the animal is not acting like they would in the wild, they have been in an enclosed area for too long and are most likely to not be used to what happens in the wild. Even though zoos can help with building up a population of an animal, animals should be put in a large fenced in area in the wild where they can still get the help they may need. Zoos should only have animals in for a limited amount of time because if they are in for too long they will not survive in the wild on their own. Animals will not be able to choose their mate, animals are doing the same things over and over, and the placement of animals are not ideal for what a person would see in the wild.
Imagine your life being caged in only one environment, being feed like 3 times a day, not living your life how you want to, and being viewed by tons of people each day. Would you like to live that way? Bet many are saying no, so if we wouldn’t like to live that way why do we treat zoo animals that way. We should not have zoos because there only for our enjoyment and its not healthy for the animals.
Zoos, are they harmless fun or are they a prison for animals. A dead wallaby was left to rot by staff at Tweddle Farm Zoo for two weeks and the zoo refused to carry out a post mortem to establish why the animal died. Animals suffer in zoos because they are trained to perform tricks, any surplus animals are killed, and zoos can’t provide sufficient space.
In the planet that we live in exists more than 8.5 billion of species that extend all the way from fish to wild animals, about 525 million of the 8.5 billon on the whole world are dogs, on an investigation that was proceeded by Stanley Coren on “Psychology Today”, estimated that approximately out of the 42.5 million of houses that are located just on the United States, each house owns 1 to more than 2 dogs, it all adds up to just in the United states there are more than 78 million of dogs.Out of the 78 million there are 3.3 million of dogs that are unowned that live on the streets or are on animal shelters.
Is this how animals are really supposed to be treated? Would you want to be treated like this? So why do we insist on keeping it this way? Zoos have been around for a long time, but just recently people have began to wonder if it's really what's best for the animals, or for us? So, they began talking about it, seeing if all animals, including endangered animals, should live in the wild or in man-made environments, and they started doing experiments. Many species are dying every year, and because of this, zoos are being blamed.
According to AZA more than 195 million visitors explore zoos, aquariums, and circuses annually, but do the visitors really understand the conditions associated with the three attractions? Families around the globe love their pets and would do anything for them to have a excellent life. Yet families allow exotic wild animals to be put in small-scale cramped enclosures, forced to be seen by thousands of visitors each day. Zoos, aquariums, and circuses have a reputation as being excellent research and learning centers. However, the conditions of zoos, circuses, and aquariums are actually harmful to the animals they contain.
Nothing can explain the feeling of helping habitats, stopping poaching, and feeding a family, these are all results given by hunting. Hunting is where people go in the outdoors, sit or stand in a blind/cover, for normally a long amount of time, and wait for an animal to come out of the woods. Following spotting the animal of choice, the hunter then shoots, tracks, and harvests the animal that is aloud in there area. In an article there's a line that states, “I still run into people who think that sports hunting is anti environmental. . . from a standpoint of their health and well being, hunters are among the greenest people in the nation today” . In all reality hunting does many beneficial things for any age, one of which being teaching patience. There is many great things that hunters do for the world that are going unnoticed.
If your child's birthday is quickly approaching, you might be wondering how to celebrate. A party at home, whether just as a family or with the kid’s friends, can be fun, but sometimes it is fun to do something beyond just cake and ice cream at home. If you are looking for something other than a party at home or even just pizza at your kid’s favorite pizza parlor, consider these three birthday party options in San Diego.
Earth is home to about 1.7 million discovered species. The most glorious group on the planet is the animal kingdom. Unfortunately, more and more animals are being hunted to the point of endangerment and eventually become extinct. I believe zoos are a wonderful place to protect animals and give the public a chance to learn about them. Mr. Dewan I would be an excellent zookeeper at the Philadelphia Zoo. I believe any and every animal is lovable. I have experience with different species. I would be a dedicated and devoted employee.
