Basketball as it is known today invented by Physical Education Instructor Dr. James Naismith in December 1891 in the town of Springfield, Massachusetts. He invented it to condition young athletes during cold months and for it being an less injury prone sport than football. Why is basketball good for either the players or spectators? There are ways to show why basketball is a good sport for either player or spectators, by showing facts and experiences me and the people encountered playing basketball. Basketball is the best sport due to its rules, facts, health and fitness benefits, and people’s experiences.
Basketball is the best sport because it can be played with two to five players each side, and also a sport to play with friends and other competitors. According to Total Sportek, Basketball is the second most played game in the world. It had at least a billion followers and is a major sport in USA with NBA generating over 4.75 billion dollars per year in revenue. Basketball can also be played with a person and be entertained for hours. It is a good sport to play because playing basketball has benefits on health and fitness. It burns calories by running, jumping, and quick lateral movements done in basketball provides a significant amount of aerobic exercise and can burn a great deal of calories. Enhanced confidence in which self esteem increases and help gain more confidence, being a confident person has more faith in his or her skills and can face life with a better opposition. Basketball also helps players improve concentration and encourages the development of teamwork. People dream of going to the NBA. It's such an exciting game, filled with buzzer-beaters, blowouts, and ankle breakers. So much can also be learned from the game, such as the correct way to shoot, play
No other sport will mean so much to me as basketball will. Every time I step on the court, I lose myself and become a whole other person. When I hear my name yelled in the crowd, I get an adrenaline rush to my brain, causing me to swiftly move quicker and focus on the game. Deep down I know that I am not here to win the game, but to enjoy myself. Each basket I make are like my worries trapped into the ball, and then expelled when it goes into the basket. This game is where my mind gets lost in the sounds of the dribbles. When the game is over, I look back to my team and give them warming hugs knowing that the game is over, and we will not stop playing the sport because there is always time to get better. Although I frantically wash my jerseys the nights before games, and leave my stinky shoes in my car all season, I would not trade pulling a jersey over my head every Friday night, dancing to blaring music in the locker room, and lacing up my shoe for the world. It means a lot more to me knowing that it is more than just a game. While I know I am having fun with my best friends and some of the greatest mentors that I have, I know that I am learning true values of life, which will make me become a better
Basketball holds great meaning to me because of how long i have been playing the sport and the people around me that know the game. i feel like if i didn't have the people i have today with my i wouldn't even play basketball. The sport is great and i cant get enough of it and that is why it mens so much to me.
How do you expect kids to have fun or get some type of exercise if they do not play sports? Without the use of sports, the rate of obesity in kids increases dramatically as they tend to play more video games or sit around watching TV all day. Sometimes the kids want to play sports or do some type of activity but there’s always some type of excuses from the parents of why they can’t (for example: I’m too busy, I have to work). Organized sports would encourage parents to keep their kids moving. Yes, kids should play sports because it gets them out of the house more, a boost in confidence, and self-esteem.
The game of basketball has influenced my life in several ways. Basketball has made me a fearless competitor. It has also molded me into a self driven, hard working young lady. Without the game of basketball, I wouldn’t be half the person I am today.
The value behind entertainment depends on each individual and their likings, implying that not every single human being enjoys playing sports. However, people who do seek enjoyment through athletic activities should know that such vigorous movement can permit various benefits. Competing 5 on 5 on the basketball court involves teamwork and a game plan. The 5 players on each team must create a clever strategy for allies to follow through on court. Possibly achieving a blind pass, jab step or block can make a victorious battle. Communication, team cooperation and interpreting the opponent’s next
How many times have you driven past your local tennis courts and seen them filled with happy kids running around and smiling? Probably more than once. Tennis is a popular sport, played all over the world and loved by many. However, more people should play this wonderful sport. It can be played at any age, and at any walk of life, be ye teenager or 65 year old lady. Those are all of the reasons why i like basketball and also why i think it is educational. It’s a fun sport. It is competitive. It is also very healthy for you and keeps you
What side are you on for the better sport, wrestling or playing basketball. I’m a wrestler and I'm here to tell you wrestling is better than basketball for many reasons. I’ll talk about how it gets you in better condition mentally and physically. How wrestling makes you a more driven and focused person in the present and future of life. How wrestling makes you tougher and more competitive than the average person.
Basketball doesn’t just do it’s job on the court, every coach that I had has taught me important life lessons from basketball. For example, when a ref calls a bad foul you can’t stay mad because like the weather even though it rains and you don’t want it to you need to learn how to move on and work with what’s given to you. Sports in general help you grow as a person and make friends with many people. I enjoy playing with different people because you get to create a bond with many and be more social around people.
Secondly, basketball is great exercise. When I am in the gym playing a game I am physical, running up and down the floor, and having to play defense. Many times in the summer I play pickup games. Talking about a work out. It is a great way to build endurance. The 4th quarter,
Crack! That’s the sound of the bat made by students who play baseball or softball in the spring competitively. Unfortunately, this sound is being heard less and less due to low numbers of student players. While these are popular sports nationwide, numbers are low in our school because many students do not particularly can enjoy these and wish there was something else they could participate in. More sports choices could give these student-athletes more opportunities to compete for their school. Sublette Middle School should have more sports to choose from.
The first reason is that basketball can help you with awareness. Just by playing in a basketball game helps you with awareness because of all the things going on you have to be aware. So playing the game you learn awareness and this can help you succeed in everyday life. “Being conscious and aware in life sets the stage for achievement” (7 Life
Basketball is not just a sport, to me it is a lifestyle; there is something about shooting the orange sphere through the net and hearing that “swoosh” sound that can force any problem to instantly go away. Nothing can compare to the satisfaction that is felt when stepping onto the court or feeling the padded outer-layer of the ball clash with the tips of my fingers after bouncing up from the ground. The court is a second home to me. I have been playing basketball since I was eight years old. It seemed to come as second nature. Once I reached middle school, I competed for a spot on the seventh grade girls basketball team and earned myself a spot. Those girls meant everything to me. I can recall practices when we got off task and goofed around for a bit, but we always got back to work.
The sport of basketball is known as a fun past time for any person young or old. Basketball is a great way of exercise and a great way to have fun with friends and possibly make some new ones. I love to watch and play the game, basketball is a very entertaining sport and can be played by anyone. Basketball has many negative and positive things about it based on my opinion. Basketball is known as a good pastime in many people’s eyes but can also be seen as a passion for many others. Basketball in my opinion the best thing I can do with my friends to have fun while burning a few calories. I see basketball as a fun and easy way to have fun rather than sitting on the couch all day playing video games or watching television. One reason I love
The experiences of failing and trying again provide a learning process that can translate to greater achievement in school. “A controlled longitudinal study found that adolescents who participated in sports showed improved grade point averages, had increased attachment to school, and were more likely to attend college” (Larson, Reed, and Sean Seepersad). The persistence children learn while playing sports will carry on in other parts of life, such as learning in school, leading to continual success. While playing basketball, I began to grow more mentally and socially. I stayed more active in the games and reacted faster; I would be ready to block a sudden dash to our hoop. In other activities, such as math, I began solving equations quicker and was more focused. Also, as a child I was a quiet and shy. When playing the game, I could not just stand back; I had to get into the action by challenging the ball or trying to get a pass. As my confidence developed, I became more bold and outgoing in other parts of my life.
