Persuasive Essay against Animal Testing
Abraham Lincoln once said, “I am in favour of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being.” I couldn’t agree more with this statement as I do not believe that animal testing is right and I am totally against it.
One of the main reasons I am against animal testing is the fact that the animals don’t have a choice and are being forced to be tested, which can lead to them getting seriously ill or dying as a cause of the testing. Each year in the USA alone, an estimate of 70 million animals are taken away from their natural habitat, blinded, scalded, force-fed chemicals, genetically manipulated, and basically hurt and killed in the name of science, by private

It is irrational and unnecessary to use animals as a means to an end. It can be prevented.
To conclude, I feel that animal testing is not right and I am against the current animal testing system, which is mandatory by law. I think the fact that the animals don’t have a choice and are being forced to be tested, which puts their life in danger, is wrong. I also believe that animal testing is the wrong thing to do when there are many alternatives that would cause no harm to animals (or humans). Jeremy Bentham once said, “The question is not, "Can they reason?" nor, "Can they talk?" but "Can they suffer?” – The answer is
Animal testing is a common practice in current life that is necessary to ensure the safety of the humans that will be using the tested product. There are many good and bad aspects of animal testing, but the pros clearly outweigh the cons. Animal testing has been around since ancient times when animals were dissected to gain knowledge about the body and organs. The animals killed from animal testing make up a tiny percentage of the total animals killed every year. When just considering the animals used for food compared to the animals used for testing, testing animals make up a mere 2.6 percent of that number. Public safety far outweighs the lives of the small amount of animals killed.
Animal testing has been a controversial topic for many generations throughout the world. People against animal testing say that animal testing is cruel and inhumane and
Asking just about any animal rights activists on the thoughts of animal testing, it is reasonable to expect that the majority of them would address crucial flaws in many of the laws in regards to animals and how animals are supposedly “protected” by these laws. Trained scientists and researchers take on the key role of testing on animals in laboratories and facilities throughout the world, using the excuse that we are expanding knowledge and furthering medical research. In the United States alone, there are very few laws truly protecting animals from the unnecessary amounts of suffering the research forces upon them with many exceptions. Additionally, in reference to the scientists who perform these tests, the author of the article,
If a person was to choose between a cat and a rat to experiment on, statistically, more people would choose the rat. What many people fail to realize is that all animals, no matter what type of breed, are being put in labs and being tested on every day. Around the world, there has been an on-going debate on animal testing. Many people feel as if animals' lives do not matter in the long-run. The increase in animal testing has grown at an upsetting rate. Animals have no voice, therefore, people need to stand up for them and do what is right. Putting animals through testing and experimentation is unjust.
Specific evidence points that animal testing should not be allowed; however the debate is also on moral grounds. Several people, about 60% of the population, agree that animal testing should be banned because it is just wrong. To be born into the world on a concrete floor and be made to lead a life with no freedom is worse than having no life. They have no chance to stop the pain or torment, simply because they are “just animals.” Animal activists and everyday people believe that humans are voices for the animals. Therefore, animal testing is considered ethically wrong and people should act as the advocate for the animals.
One reason that animal testing is horrible is that animals are not able to have a say about being tested on. Animals are not able to specifically say if they are in discomfort. Most of the time they are put through tests that can and will cause severe pain to them. Researchers discriminate against animals because they are not able to maintain the same cognitive abilities that humans have because they cannot speak, or have moral judgment, (Con Animal, par. 10). There is no need for about 56 billion animals to die from failed experimental testing. The majority of research animals used are killed during or after the experiments. Their lives are forcibly taken for poor research that could have been fixed with the proper information, (Con Animal, par. 9). Researchers use too many animals for testings whether it is for cosmetic or medical reasons, that will cost the
Animals have been tested for ever. They use to not have rights. Back in the day animals that are put into testing are not given rights. They are forced to do things that they don’t want to do forced to do something that will make them injured. A pro on animal testing is nearly 90% of scientist in medical lads believed that animals research Is necessary. Some scientists that work with animals don’t always work on the body they work on the mind
Animal testing is extremely unfair for those animals, and it is a kind of cruel and immoral behavior. To be honest, we cannot ignore it. However, when it comes to animals having right to live, eating animals must be mentioned. I want to ask if you care about the feeling of the animals that you want to eat. Everyone wants to live longer, and there is no doubt that animals want to. If animals have right to live as human beings do, why do you eat animals like sheep and chicken? Humans are at the top of the food chain, so it is normal for humans to eat animals, especially the common animals whose number is very large. Those animals used to do research are usually rabbits, frogs and other common animals, and to an extent, animal testing is equal to eating animals. Eating animals can provide energy to our bodies, and sometimes animal testing can benefit mankind and save those who are going to die. We can accept eating animals, so why not accept animal testing? Besides, animal testing is much more beneficial than eating animals. Therefore, animal testing should be
For decades now animal testing has been a known method in society. The downside of the reality is society is not fully aware of what is going on behind closed doors, and the severity of what animal testing truly is. Although there have been many points where animal testing has proven to help in certain studies, it is also proven to be unnecessary. Biomedical industries are looking for the next cure or the safest makeup for example, but the process of it all is wrong. There are millions of animals yearly being put through suffering and cruel conditions with no break or recovery time. There is no way to actually see results in such a vigorous treatment. These animals are sick and abused daily for long periods of time and to think that any living
Not only animals, but human lives too (Animal testing is bad Science). “ Most animal experiments are not relevant to human health, they do not contribute meaningfully to medical advances and many are undertaken simply out of curiosity and do not even pretend to hold promise of curing illnesses.” Says Noah Berlatsky. Even if you tested something on an animal multiple times, someone is going to have to be the first human to have to test the product on themselves. Even when humans could benefit from on a product being tested, they're still really bad for animals. For example, aspirin; it is a benefit to humans, but did you know that it kills cats while it also causes birth defects in dogs, guinea pigs, and other animals too (Berlatsky). Animals are living things and don't deserve to be treated this way. They shouldn't have to be forced to suffer in cages with disease and injury. Animals are treated as objects that have little meaning to them and little value with their lives besides the cost to purchase them (Hunnicutt). More than $2 billion was wasted because the drugs that passed the animal, failed the human test. Not only do people get sick from the product they tested on animals, but about 95% of schools use animal testing to train their kids which is wasting more animal
Animal testing is morally wrong. Tests are done on monkeys, guinea pigs, mice, rabbits, cats, dogs, and many other animals. These animals are exposed to chemicals and are sometimes purposefully injured to observe recovery (if there is any). “9 out of 10 candidates that appear safe and effective in animal studies fail when given to humans”(About Animal Testing). These animals are put through terrible tests and awful living conditions, and despite the efforts, some are inaccurate. Scientists still conduct experiments partially because they get better pay that way (Starer). Using animals lives for human benefit and profit is cruel and cold-hearted.
More than 100 million animals die each year from animal testing (“Animal Testing is Bad Science: Point/Counterpoint.”). Animal testing should not be allowed. There are some “pros” to animal testing like curing cancer and other diseases. However, animal testing shouldn’t be allowed because many animals lose their life.
Animal testing is a real result of pure fatality. Almost 87% of animals tested are selected randomly, many problems are that we are funding and basically supporting animal testing. More than half of the animals tested are killed during experiments (Human Society International). The animals tested alive are conscious while the test is being distributed to their bodies. Most research is often very poor, testing selfless animals for no reason at all! The testing would make more sense if the animals were at least being treated well and taken care of right during, before, and after the
There are people who believe animal testing is an awful, cruel, unethical, and inhumane way of experimenting. I personally believe, after doing some research on this topic, that animal testing is an ethical process. My first reaction to this question was that it isn't ethical. I agreed with the argument of many that the idea of using a poor and defenseless animal for our science experiments is inhumane, cruel, and unnecessary. But, after reading up on the subject a bit more, my opinion has changed. I feel that those who disagree with animal testing, may just be blinded by what it seems to be and are unaware of the truth to how testing really works and the benefits this testing has. I personally support animal testing.
Animals are a very important aspect in the world today, due to how much of a positive impact they can have on people. Although, some animals never get to experience having a companion or even seeing the world outside a lab because of animal testing. Animal testing should be banned worldwide because it is unethical, it is bad science, and overall wasteful.
