I decided to become a Pharmacy Technician originally from High School. My Junior year at Abilene High school I took an elective that covered the basics of different medical fields. After completing the course my junior year, I decided to move forward with the program. So my Senior year in High School I enrolled in dual credit and joined the Pharmacy Tech program at McMurry University. At the time I was also apart of the Abulene High volleyball team. With everything going on between after school practice and games, I had to choose between the two and I chose volleyball. Sad but true because volleyball didn’t take me very far.
In 2013, when I decided that I wanted to go college after having my son. I knew I wanted to do something in the medical

After graduating high school, I went on to attend Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL, where I pursued a degree in pre-pharmacy while doing track and field. After being there and becoming homesick after 6 months, I decided to go back home (Atlanta, GA). I thought I was ready for the college life, but I just was not. So I attended a technical college to pursue a lesser dream and become a pharmacy technician. While only being a technician for about 3 years I was able to purchase my own home at the age of 21! Purchasing my own home was a great accomplishment for me. I later got engaged and married that same year, 2008, to the love of my life at that time. In the year of 2009 I had a handsome baby boy whom I named Cardoza. My marriage began to get rocky and my career began to come to a stand still and boring. My husband at the time and I separated and my career led me to Florida. When I first came to Florida I was able to transfer my job as working as a retail pharmacy technician. After coming into difficulties with keeping my insurance and a consistent work schedule to maintain 40 hours a week, I started searching for another job.

The task was daunting, but with hard work and many late nights I persevered. The experience of college developed my communication skills, exposed me to several cultures and helped me to mature as a leader.
Jennifer, i think the NPTA (National Pharmacy Technician Association) would be perfect for you. This association would have to be my second choice. I like the fact that this association takes into consideration the different pharmacy settings. Eventually, i hope to also get a job in a hospital setting. After speaking with other pharmacy technicians i was told that we are able to join more than one association at a time, but i think for me it would be most beneficial to join this association later down the line. Since my focus at the moment is to become a pharmacy technician, i have choosen APhA. Maybe we can meet up one day touch bases and share our experiences with the association of our
