During my high school career, I have been involved in many clubs and activities: SADD, Science Club, Choir, FCCLA, and Scholar’s Bowl, Power lifting, Basketball, Volleyball and Softball. I have been a member of the Racing Wranglers 4-H club for the past nine years; I joined 4-H when I was 9 years old. Through this experience, I realized my true passion is photography. I have been a Kansas State Fair award winner for the past 9 years, I am proud and honored to say my photographs have been chosen to be displayed in the Governor’s office, state representative’s and senator’s offices in Washington D.C. and published in the 4-H yearly calendar in the past five years editions. Because of my photography experience, I was excited to be notified that I have received a position on the Butler Community College magazine “the Grizzly” …show more content…
My goal after graduation is to attend Pittsburg State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. My educational aspirations will assist me in pursuing a career in the media field preferably in the photography area in journalism or film. My dream occupation is to travel and take photos for periodicals such as National Geographic and other nature magazines. Due to an injury last spring, I was not able to compete in fall sports, but I was given the opportunity to film our local football team, this was real eye – opener for me. I thought I only wanted to take photos, but I enjoyed standing behind the camera, capturing action video which would help our team bring home the win. Although, I have achieved well on my own at the amateur level, I need further guidance from a professional in my field of studies. I am certain that if I do not complete my college degree I will never have the opportunity to achieve my
As a young child, I often transformed my grandma's dwelling into my own personal canvas. Fueled by morning cartoons, I would concoct detailed illustrations of the oddities in my imagination and intricate pictures of my family and surrounding. It was evident I had been blessed. I was never discouraged from my routine doodling either, just encouraged to channel that creativity on to anything but our walls. When I started public schooling some years later I was introduced to the scope of what art really was. Painting, drawing, photography-It was a world unknown to me then. The way we experimented with every medium early on was perfect for my inquisitive nature. For years I invested in what I now consider to be my craft, with the guidance of numerous
From a young age, I knew art was what I wanted to pursue. I’ve had a love of photography since I was a little girl, and my older brother, who was a photographer at the time, nourished this passion. He taught me how to use a camera before I had even graduated elementary school. I took every chance I could get to take photos. From the moment I bought my first DSLR camera in seventh grade, it never left my sight. My mother called it my ‘security blanket’ and everyone at school called me ‘camera girl’. It felt like a dream come true when I was accepted into the Digital Arts program at Stafford Technical Center; it was like opening a door to another world, one that understood how deep this passion ran and how far it really could take me. In Digital Arts, we study all types of art. Although my adoration for photography lives on, I ended up falling in love with graphic design also.
Ever since my parents bought me my first camera, I’ve been hopelessly attached to it. Film was always something that intrigued me, and I spent most of middle school with a camera in my hand. That didn’t end when high school began. As I furthered my knowledge of film and photography throughout school, I found more opportunities to create something bigger than myself. Using my passion for film and photography, I aided with Tri-M Music Honors Societies community outreaches and events. I have been involved with Tri-M for three years and have held two officer positions, currently being the President. This organization helped me to decide my career path by giving me opportunities to create advertisements and analyze marketing strategies on a small
“Every time you dream at night, the dream has holes in it. You have to do something to fix those holes and make the dream become a reality,” my father often told me. Although I was very young when my dad passed away, he provided tremendous inspiration and encouragement to pursue my passions that continue to influence my life and my future endeavors. As a child, one of my favorite pastimes was acting; I would routinely act in videos with my friend while my dad filmed us. Later, I assumed responsibility for filming while my friend would act. I instantly fell in love with videography. I was enthralled with how videography could capture my point of view of the world, which prompted me to try photography. Once I began photography, I knew I wanted
A girl, who had a dream, dropped out of high school and began her life-changing career as a commercial photographer without any former experience. She taught herself how to shoot photos and started teaching children’s art classes when she was 24 and stayed active as a photographer for nearly 70 years. This girl was Helen Levitt.
If I were to point out an academic subject that inspires me, it would be photography. To me, photography has become something I’m very passionate about that I’ve developed from the classroom. At first, I had taken photography in order to college requirements out of the way, however; I grew to appreciate the subject much more than I had expected. This was because I found photography very engaging and fun, and that I had a way to creatively express myself. Inside the classroom, I developed the skills and knowledge necessary for the subject. Outside of photography class, the subject evolved into side hobby I enjoy putting time into during my spare time. I’ve even considered at one point becoming a professional photographer as a future career.
In this essay, I will be talking about a Upcoming male photographer who goes by the name of Brandon Stanton. He grew up in a place in Atlanta, Georgia called Marietta. He graduated from “The Walker School” and attended the University Of Georgia where he majored in history. His first Job was a Bond Trader in Chicago where he bought his first camera and found himself taking pictures of Downtown Chicago. After a while, Stanton ended up losing his job so he started to take on photography. He moved to New York and published his first book called “Humans Of New York” and sold over 30,000 copies. In my “career” in fashion, I've had the pleasure of being able to intern in both a fashion gallery and an art studio. I've also had the opportunity to take sewing and art classes outside and inside of school. I’ve tried to surround myself with all things fashion, including my room; my parents constantly get on to me to do something with my assortment of fashion magazines. In filling myself with everything fashion, I've started to want more from myself and my designs. I can sew and draw, even needlepoint; but I want to be able to do more. I want to be able to mix all of these elements together, including embroidering and knitting. I also want to be able to push myself to my max by establishing skills that I can add to my pieces that set me apart
During high school, photography was not only my strongest talent but my most beneficial. During the time I was shy and quiet. Being a photographer meant a lot to me because taking pictures makes me forget about my problems. With school going on and problems at home, I like to go out and take picture to distract myself and forget about those problems. I wanted to take my photography skills to another level. In Junior year, I pursued my curiosity of being in yearbook club. Because of the practice I had during my third year of high school, I felt that I could take some amazing pictures. But to do this I had to make a sacrifice, like practicing every day even when I did not have the time, but I was committed to learn something that I am passionate
Apart from Speech-Language Pathology, photography is another passion that has allowed for my growth and healing through the last eight years. I originally picked up a camera to document my everyday events. Thankfully, time and rehabilitation remedied my terrible memory, but I began to view the world differently, through the lens of my
The beauty of nature is remarkable. I cherish every moment I am outside admiring the landscape surrounding me. I also enjoy capturing the beauty of nature to share with my friends and family. For my 17th birthday, I received a camera and I was beyond excited to wander the paths throughout my neighborhood; I immediately began to take photos and capture the elegance of nature. Although it is only a hobby and I do not plan on pursuing a career as a professional photographer, I still relish taking photos for my own pleasure and for other people. For example, when my sister became engaged with her boyfriend of eleven years, she suggested that I take her engagement photos; I was shocked and honored. I do not believe that my photography skills are
While others claim that photography captures the inner soul of a person, or deliberately defines it as painting or writing with light, but in my case, it is just simply a newfound love hobby. I undeniably adore and look up to expert photographers I encounter down the road may it face-to-face or the other way around. In my heart, I silently desire that someday, with hard work, determination, and perseverance, I will become professional and famous as they are. Since my husband bought a Digital Single-Lens Reflex (DSLR) as an anniversary gift, my penchant for photography commenced and ignited. Let me detail the essential truths behind my passion over photography.
Going into high school, I thought I was going to have an easy four years ahead of me. I was always good in school and was self-motivated to do the best I could. Unfortunately my four years were not as easy as I expected. I have learned I am very good at some subjects, moderate in others, and horrible in a few. I thought I was good at most subjects until I learned what it feels like to know everything about something to the point where I did not need to study for a final.
The surrounding, in which you live is the first stop you make when you want to capture the moments. I often advice young and aspiring photographers to stay attuned to their surrounding in order to see and capture all the thematic elements that can captivate wider audience. Academic experiences also play an important role in opening the doors to new possibilities and
My main objective is the furtherance of my knowledge through education that is adaptable to my personal interest, yet, immersing myself in every aspect of photography. Meanwhile, taking every opportunity and resource to advance my passion into a finished body of work.
