On March 26, 2014 I visited a one artist photography exhibition held in the Thomas F. Riley terminal at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, California. This exhibition featured photography by Kevin Warn. The type of work on display varied from black and white and color prints to very large prints, 16x20 or larger and smaller 8x10 prints. Most of the photos were printed on canvas and the others did not mention the process that was used. Photographer Kevin Warn is a Wedding and Life Portraiture photographer. His background includes photojournalism, high fashion photography, wedding photography, portraiture, as well as stock photography. He is a locally and internationally published photographer and is a resident of Fullerton, California. I …show more content…
I liked the composition of this photo. It was taken from underneath, looking down the length of the pier. What I loved about this photo is that the pillars closest to the lens are much distorted and the Pacific Ocean has soothing yet eerie radium like glow to it. It’s a very strange photograph and I absolutely loved it. The second photo was titled The Coffee Shop. Photo is a black and white print taken in Italy 2010. It is of a group of men (I think) and they appear to be walking in the middle of a road or alley away from the camera. What really liked about this photo is the graininess of it and the contrast of the snow covered street and the dark clothing that the men are wearing. What I loved about this photo is that I could feel the bone-chilling cold, like I was actually there.
The last photo was another black and white print. This photo was titled Canals and was taken in Amsterdam 2010. This photo seems to be taken from a bridge crossing over the canal or maybe from some sort of vessel on the canal. I’m just taking guesses; I am not familiar with Amsterdam. I liked this photo because I can see all the way down this canal and there is so much detail in both the shadows and the highlights of the photo, just
For everyday pictures, you can mix things up by telling a story with your photography. Instead of snapping pictures as they happen with no influence on the shots, this style of photography involves planning and executing your vision. The storytelling is completely up to you.
A reoccurring topic of the essays, concerning photography, discussed during the course is the future of professional photographers/photojournalists. Some believe that the easily accessible spread of amateur photography can and has put a strain on the works of professionals. However, with magazines such as National Geographic still in print after over a century, it raises some questions. Though the spread of information, and thus photography, has increased the platforms and need for professional photographers and photojournalists still exists.
The 1930’s were filled an enormous sense of vulnerability and angst because of the horrifying events of the Great Depression and its impact that it had on the society and economy of the United States of America. People of all classes, races, genders, and heritages were struck by the tragedies of the Great Depression. However, with new advancements in the technology of photography came a new hope and outlook for the future of Americans. The introduction of colored photography along with organized photographic groups and their impact took the World by storm as the realization of normal citizens being impacted by the Great Depression set in.
George Eastman invented roll film and an easy to operate camera that made photography easier for anyone to experience photography. He founded the Eastman Kodak Company to manufacture cameras and photographic supplies, making the art of photography available to the masses. This talks about his life and how he came about the inventions that made photography easier for people to use and produce their own photographs.
My MYP project topic is Photography. I am researching photography because it is a subject that really interests me and that I enjoy. Photography falls under the global context of Personal and Cultural Expression because it is a form of art and a way for people to express their creativity. Throughout this MYP journey I hope to become a better photographer and explore more of Washington D.C. Some questions i’m trying to answer for this project are, What are some restaurants in D.C that are highly favored? What are some cool places I should visit in D.C? How can I become a better photographer?
I noticed each time that I observed Addie she wanted to do art first, you can tell it is her favorite. She always took her time during these art projects and was very enthusiastic when creating them. Another personality trait I noticed was that she is not a follower but a leader. She always did what she wanted to do and never changed stations when her friends did. Addie was so happy with her painting, filling up the entire canvas that she said to the teacher “we are almost done come see.” Addie spent the most time at the art station and held the longest attention span out of the three children I observed. She never moved back and forth between different activities during short periods of time. I did notice Addie wanted the attention from the
This photo was taken from an eye level point of view. There is a deep depth of field because one can see the small wooden boards way past the bikers. There is linear perspective because the viewers eyes follow the railings all the way into the center of the photo. This photo is high contrast because of the dark shadows and bright highlights and is low key because there is an interesting lighting. The second photo I matted is a picture of my cat stretching and yawning while on the railing. I named this photo Cat Nap. This photo is interesting to me because of the peak of the action as the cat is yawning and stretching along the top of a railing. This photo is a wide frame and closed form. There is a bug’s eye point of view because one does not typically view a cat from this perspective. There is a low contrast and high key because the photo is evenly lit and has a muted feeling. The last photo I matted is of one of my chickens. I named this photo Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road? This photo is very interesting to me because it gets the viewer to question what is happening in the
On Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at about 1101 hours, Sgt. Ladyzhenskiy and I were present inside of 542 Marcy Ave, Brooklyn and we conducted a canvass for video surveillance cameras inside and outside the location for any possible video footage. There no surveillance camera observed outside of the building but we did observe one camera in the 1st floor lobby but it seems as it was spray painted over. I subsequently confer with NYCHA 452 Marcy Ave (718) 875-7705 and an employee confirmed that the camera is currently being repaired due to it being spray
The details were staggering. From the jagged rocks to the stillness of the water under the enchanting bridge to the wisps of clouds in the sky, it nearly took my breath away. The only way this artist could have been so particular was to have painted it in person. It was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. I wondered if it really existed. I glanced down in the corner. The initials SF ’59 were signed in a deep red.
On first glance of this photograph, it is clear to see that this is a portrait of an older man. He is Caucasian, fair/pale skinned, shirtless, with fairly light hair. There are many white blotches on his skin and only noticeable nipple. He is pictured against a rough background with lots of texture. There are two distinct spaces, one is thin and horizontal whereas the other is much thicker and vertical. The image is pretty flat, as there are no discernable shadows to make him appear three-dimensional.
The black and white photograph captured by Jose Miguel Martinez incites a range of sentiments to the audience with its landscape of the seashore at nightfall. A pile of rocks and a tattered brick wall are in the foreground, the sea and cliffs are in the middle ground, then the remote sailboat, distant land, and the moonlit sky are in the background. This photograph impressively demonstrates the uses of balance, utility, and variety in its composition. Balance is achieved asymmetrically by the raw and unintended placement of the mountains, brick wall, the sea and land. The composition also has a great balance with the use of positive and negative space. Because of the asymmetrical balance, the photograph is more stimulating to look at as both
The second photograph I have chosen is a photograph of the Belomor Channel/Canal also known as the White Sea-Baltic Canal. It is a black and white symmetrical image with the canal directly in the center and the walls on either side. It also has somewhat of a repetition style with the rectangular shapes on the canal walls. To me it appears to be a large, menacing structure with cold and potentially dangerous waters running through it. After learning about the canal, I believe my initial thoughts about the photograph were very fitting. This canal was built during Stalin’s reign using forced
The photograph of the Golden Gate Bridge by Joseph B. Strauss, is a unique piece of art from the pre-world war two era. The photograph depicts a gorgeous setting on a beautiful day in San Francisco, California. The photograph displays a popular, fascinating bridge going across the San Francisco bay. The picture also portrays a mountainous scenery in the background of the bridge. The photograph features a lively contrast of colors, along with lines, and space.
Science photographers help people to understand the world around them. They capture horrific weather, natural disasters, planets unseen to the naked eye, and problems faced by the human race. Learning through science, photography is a step in the right direction. In order to become a successful science photographer, it is essential to use photography to highlight the wonders of the planet, to show how photography can help the world, and understand the career opportunities available, so that a photographer can make a positive impact on the world.
The main goal of this piece is, therefore, to show the deterioration of the environment and the danger of radiation on the surface in opposition to the peaceful life in the Oceanic cities where nature is still a top priority. The second poster is a combination of scenes 3, 4, 5 and 6. In the first part, we can see a dark tunnel with graffities on its walls and the wheel of a bike with a U-lock on the bottom right corner. Suddenly, the streetlight starts to flicker and a threatening shadow is reflected on the right side of the screen.
