The first semester of internship, I realized Ben Massell Dental Clinic (BMDC) provide serve to a lot of people. BMDC deliver services to people of many different races, gender, belief, and customs. A high percentage of clients that BMDC serve are African American and Caucasian. There are few Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Hispanics. Along with cultures, there are different languages. Upon annual dental consult 4BWXs were completed, Dr. Jackson indicated that he will required dental treatment under general anesthesia due to lack of cooperation. My experiences have caused me to made me consider a career in non profit dentistry that serves the poor. I have served as a Community Service chair of an organization called 1867 at Howard University; coordinating community service activities for our members. I currently intern working with kids under 5 in nutrition and health where I do nutrition evaluations and lessons. It is so important to use your skills to help others. After a year of working with vulnerable populations of children and young adults in my home state I think will know for sure if this what I want to do for this full time for my whole career in healthcare.
