The Police changed rock like cell phones changed ways of communication. The trio was from England and came together with their leader, Sting, who helped take rock into a new form. The Police took rock into a progressive direction, won three grammy awards, and even got into the Hall of Fame, making them one of the best bands of the 20th century. All musicians become interested in music at one point. Sting was the singer and bassist in the Police and was also the motivator of the group (Lowe, 1990). He played music to escape the horror he thought of working in a factory (Ray, 2013). The Police were first seen on Feb in 1981 on a Rolling Stone cover and in 1984 the they became stars (Fricke, 2007). The No. 1 song spot that was held for four weeks in England was the Police's song which also managed to get Top 10 in Canada and the United States (The Police, 2018). Entering the 1970s-1980s the Police were extremely successful and getting better and better and the also managed to snag three Grammy Awards (The Police, 2018). In this time period, the Police went on tour to multiple places like Thailand and India and also played in Mumbai, Egypt, Greece, and Mexico which were places not know to have bunk bands (The Police, 2018). In 1985 the members of Police seperated and started creating their own songs but the most successful was Sting with his Blue Turtle album (Fornatale, 1987). They had signed with A&M not to long before. A&M's "Roxanne" was a mess and didn't get on any charts (The Police, 2018). The main member of the group, Sting, decides that reuniting the band is good idea for several reasons like he is a better bandleader and knows even more about music than previously (Fricke, 2007). Police reunited as one, and played in a Amnesty International concert in 1986 (The Police, 2018).
