She shoots and she scores! That is the sound I loved hearing growing up. Being apart of a family who loved basketball I knew that I would play. 6th grade is when I began practicing and playing the sport I fell in love with. I dreamt of being the first female to play on an NBA team until the day my dream changed. I fell and injured my ankle at a game. I was so devastated and in so much pain until my doctor arrived. He smiled at me and told me that everything would be ok and asked me a question I’d never forget. He asked, “who would you like to be when you grow up” and I told him the first female to play in the NBA. He laughed and said why not become a doctor for the NBA team and at that moment the man who made me feel better about my injured …show more content…
The HIVE is what I plan to call it because just live bees have their hive for their home I want for those who enter my building that they too feel at home. Therefore as I am looking for a Post Baccalaureate Program, I have to be very critical and do extensive research to find the right program and school. American University College of Arts and Sciences graduate certificate premedical program is the right open field for me. As a student who have always been in a small classroom setting I am beyond pleased that the program focuses on small group settings that promote student success while giving their students the opportunity to intern in a clinical setting. I would consider myself a hands on learner and the ability to volunteer will allow me to enhance my clinical skills while strengthening my science background and that is why I believe that this program is right for me. Even though I won’t become the first female to play in the NBA, but that American University will be apart of my story in which I become one of the few female physiatrist to work with professional

To many high school students, college seems like a far away land, a mysterious place where everyone wants to be yet not many know how to get there. As children, our parents tell us how much time we have to think about college, and that it is too far down the line to think about. The truth is it is never too early to think about your future. I, like many people, put little thought into my future career and now am lost in an unfortunate mix of indecision and anxiety. Not knowing where you want to be in the future is a hard burden to bear. Many of us tend to find out that we only know what we do not want, not what we actually do want. Do we want to be poor? Absolutely not. Do we want a boring job? Of course we don’t. We all want our
Throughout high school I have been involved in numerous academic programs tat opened many opportunities for me.

The profession that I plan to pursue is Music Education. Music Education is the field of study dealing with the teaching and learning of music. It touches on the development of the affective domain, including music appreciation and sensitivity. Even though the profession that I plan in pursing includes me taking mostly music related classes, I know it is important that I have liberal arts foundation that will help me succeed in securing my desired job and doing well in my career.
During my junior year of high school, I became extremely confident in the idea that I wanted to pursue a career in the field of Event Management with a major in Hospitality Management. Due to the fact that my major of choice is somewhat general, it is offered at many different universities worldwide. I had to ask myself, where could I truly excel in this career field and what university would give me the opportunity to apply my skills in the real world? New York University was always one of my top choices on my list of colleges to apply to, but it wasn’t until I discovered the NYU School of Professional Studies Jonathan M. Tisch Center for Hospitality and Tourism that NYU became my number one school of choice. Reading about the Jonathan M.
There are many reasons why I want to transfer from a two year institution to a four-year school such as furthering my education, to learn new skills and to stand out form others when trying to get a job. Going to a four-year college will give me access to more material and classes that would allow me to gain new knowledge. I currently am a psychology major, there are a lot concepts that I need to fully understand how the human mind works. me in the field I want to go into. Four year institution teaches at a higher level , this allows me to gain a deeper understanding of the many concepts of psychology and further my education considerably. Also, these institutions offer a lot of internships opportunities that allow for one to gain skills that
Following my graduation from Mission Senior Secondary School, I plan to attend the Bachelor of Arts program in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences offered at Simon Fraser University, in order to obtain an undergraduate degree. Upon completion of this, I would like to enter the field of education as a primary teacher or pursue my Master’s degree in Speech Pathology and ideally work within a school environment. Based on the criteria required to be awarded this scholarship, I demonstrate the necessary qualities needed to be a successful recipient.
Pursuing a college degree is one of the biggest challenges that people can face. The challenges of obtaining a college degree is not limited at the level of toughness of learning the material that is being taught. However, the challenge of studying the materials that is being taught does not compare to the finical aspect of obtaining the degree itself. Receiving a degree in any major is expensive, along with college expense such as book, fee and transportation. That is why it is very important to me that I receive a scholarship. The finical part of receiving my degree is what preventing me from getting it. Instead of being a full-time student and receiving my degree on time, I am being set back and being a part-time student so
Comparing between college education and the other secondary things we need in life, mostly education comes at the first. Many high school students know pretty much everything about how much college education is essential in their life and many students want to have college education. But, to achieve something, one must work very hard and go through all the obstacles that comes on the way. The increasing cost of college degree has made students harder to achieve college degree. College education is needed to build a secure future for everyone but the main obstacle that comes for the students is how they will pay for their education. Many students think that attaining college education should be made a basic rights and students should be
Pursuing a graduate degree, specifically a PhD, is a decision that was made only in the last few years. This new direction was largely based on my recent exposure to higher education in general, but to minority women in higher education specifically. To help explain how this exposure helped to propel my desire to pursue a graduate degree at this point in my life, I feel it’s important to provide you with some background information and context of my upbringing. My parents are immigrated from Mexico shortly after getting married. Although my father had been coming to the United States since he was a teen to work, he did this seasonally and would return to Mexico when the agricultural season ended. After my parents married they settled in a small agricultural town in a coastal town of California. It is in this small town that my parents raised their 6 children. Holding on to their traditional values we were raised in a traditional manner; from a young age the girls were expected to help out in the house and contribute by doing housework while the boys were expected to help my father which included helping out in the fields. It was in this way that my parents tried to instill many of the same values which they had acquired in their youth growing up in Mexico. Although they wanted us to do well in school it wasn’t something that was strongly emphasized. Perhaps it was due to their limited exposure to education and the lack of educational opportunities my parent’s had growing up.
