Poverty and Inequality
To what extent has poverty and inequality affected the world?
Introduction
Poverty is fundamentally the result of the way society is sorted out and assets are apportioned, whether these are money related or different assets, for example, access to housing, wellbeing, social services and education. Without a doubt, that there are altogether different levels of poverty, what this means is that every country faces different level of poverty due to their resources and opportunities. Individuals or nations that face Poverty additionally need to manage with inequality too. For example economic inequality, healthcare inequality, social inequality, etc.
India
Poverty in India is not a new story, it has been there a very long time. Poverty India intensified when they were ruled by the British, countless number of people fell to their death beds as

In rural areas lack of proper infrastructure, transportation, telecommunications and other services has caused them to live in their old traditional ways which means more work and less income. In some areas where the people rely on farming and cultivation have droughts which leads to less production of food, so their income decreases and they also suffer from malnutrition and starvation. They have a political environment of corruption, with politicians who pretty much buy the poor families' votes with food, promises of jobs, and other things.
People who live in rural areas do not find it necessary to provide their children with proper education and even if they change their minds the schools they are put in are very poor in providing education, so most of the time all the money and time spent goes to waste. Another cause is the Delay in implementing land reform, so vast expanses of land are owned by a few rich families who do not even produce anything while poor farmers need to rent land or otherwise work for pennies a
Post the economic crisis in America and the recession during the years of 2008 and 2009, the country saw a great increase in poverty and worsening of living conditions of Americans. Currently, almost 50 million of fellow Americans are living in extremely bad conditions under the poverty line which means earning less than $11490 for a single person or $23550 for a family of four people. That’s about 1 in every 6 people in this country are living under poverty. A person living in this country on minimum wage which is $7.25 an hour also cannot pull himself out of poverty even after working 40 hours a week.
Poverty can be characterized either as far as a clear salary level or as a relative condition that progressions as society reclassifies it. As the age of the world grows and progresses among the middle and upper class, the lower class is struggling to keep up with the rest. As citizens they have the right to be in the same boat as other successful people in the world, they just do not have an advantage in doing so. Communism is not in the conversation, but many of the working people in poverty deserve to be paid as normal to keep a home and more. Poverty can be reduced drastically with just a little help and kindness.
Poverty is a transmittable disease; it begins with parents and spreads to children and the people around them. It could obliterate a flawless society and affect everyone and everything around it. It is akin to a genetic code that is pre-written and out of human control. Everywhere people look, children can be seen with bones protruding out of their flesh, yet these children are the most hard-working beings alive. Poverty is a global issue that every member of humanity has dealt with at some point in time, and it is more likely that someone will help another in need after being helped themselves.
Poverty has increased tremendously over the last decade in many countries, developed or less developed. Poverty can be caused by many different factors,
Homelessness is an epidemic problem that faces many American’s and families across the United States, especially in Detroit. You may see homeless people sleeping in the underpasses of freeways or walking and sitting on street corners or holding up a sign asking for some support for their next meal. We all have seen homeless individuals and thought it was not our problem for their circumstances or maybe had a belief he/she was lying about their situation. Many of us make a choice to give money or buy food, but there are others who make a choice to ignore or overlook the homeless population. Society has placed a stigma and label the homeless population labeling them destitute by choice, but for many homelessness has become a way of life.
Many countries and region suffer from poverty because of past history of being colonies to rich power nations and when liberated from these nation every natural resource was expanded. It is not just third world countries who faces poverty, extremely well developed countries like The United States, European Nations and etc. poverty is ramped in those countries.
“Income inequality has no necessary connection with poverty, the lack of material resources for a decent life, such as adequate food, shelter, and clothing. A society with great income inequality may have no poor people, and a society with no income inequality may have nothing but poor people” - Robert Higgs. When people think of income inequality they picture poverty and people not having basic necessities. However income inequality is not just a connection to the poor. Income inequality is strongly affected by education attainment, technology, and gender.
Another major factor that can affect poverty is the economy, specifically the economic system used in a country. Capitalist economies, like our own, focus on privately owned means of production, the people who own the company keep the profits and typically the government will not interfere. This private ownership of profits leads to the rich getting richer leaving little for the growing population of the poor. In a capitalist country where the government typically offers little support to its citizens, a large number of its citizens can be left without any services because they cannot afford them. An example of this is the United States, the richest country in the world where 28.5 million of its citizens have no health insurance (Collins). Poverty causes many problems for individuals, families, and society. Now I see how the only few people and organizations that actually benefit from poverty are the rich and those who control the means of production.
Majority of the people in Ethiopia are suffering from poverty. In Ethiopia there is no enough food and people cannot feed their families easily. All of these poverty problems are related to backward agriculture and drought. Agriculture is one of the basic source of food and people depend on the agricultural products in Ethiopia, but it is very back ward and farmers are still using oxen and horses to cultivate the land. This is why farmers cannot produce enough and their work is from hand to mouth. Agriculture in Ethiopia depends on the rain, therefore if there is no enough rain there is no enough food. These are some of the agricultural problems in Ethiopia.
Socioeconomic status has been known to have a great effect on people. It’s a well-known fact that poverty and inequality affect the well-being and opportunities for families and their children. It is a common fact that people who have accumulated much wealth occupy the top echelons of society and enjoy almost all privileges brought about by their money and social status while the poor have little or no access to these privileges and are often marginalized in terms of education and social services. There are many forms of socio-economic inequality due to racial discrimination in Canada, for example some of the studies I mentioned in this paper show that a wage gap exists between White Canadians and other visible minorities. Despite pay equity
Poverty can come from war, inequality, and bad government policy. Poverty is having little or no money and not having the right necessities. Nearly half of the world lives in poverty, and eighty percent of the population lives under 10 dollars a day. The Democratic Republic of Congo has been in poverty ever since 1997. This is because the Militia owns the Coltan mines. The Militia takes the Coltan for themselves and sells it to big companies like Apple, Samsung, and Dell. On the other hand, the miners only get ten to fifteen dollars a week, and some miners only make a dollar a day. To make the DRC better for its citizens, the government needs to take over the mines and pay the miners fair wages, that will help the poverty problem and the global economy.
Poverty for centuries has been a very severe issue that has troubled many nations while impeding economic developments and progress. Poverty stricken countries are majorly concentrated in the continents of Africa and Asia. Continents like the Americas and Europe have globally been recognized as been wealthier yet still many parts of these ostensible countries face massive cases of poverty. Most at times, countries with high populations owing to high birth rates face the most cases of poverty. The definition of poverty can be boundless in the sense that poverty entails so many subsections as it sometimes gets complicated to group everything under one umbrella. Society tends to focus more on the tangible aspects of poverty because many people associate poverty with lacking money and it makes sense because poverty in terms of lacking money is a major problem affecting almost every country in the world. Even though it is debatable that poverty can be physical, intellectual, spiritual and even emotional, it is best to talk about the lack of money and economic developments in this essay. With reference to the oxford English Dictionary, poverty is state of being extremely poor and the state of being inferior in quality or insufficient in amount. Reflecting on this definition given, I deduced that malnutrition and hunger can define poverty. In the light of this, I think poverty is lacking a comfortable place of shelter, being ill and not having access to a better
Poverty may seem like just a word when you look at it, but it actually describes more than just a lack of income. Poverty is malnutrition, starvation, and lack of education. poverty is known to be one of the most compelling multidimensional issues in the world. Throughout the timeline of history poverty has always haunted the world. [“From the 1800 's to the 2000 's
The disasters cause poverty because these countries are often weak financially and cannot afford to restore their country after extensive damage. Therefore due to lack of resources the situation gets worse. It affects their inhabitant's lives causing a lack of production leading to being unable to provide for citizens. In turn leading to poverty, as they cannot even provide substances to trade and lose money. Other factors that affect the lives of citizens are lack of clean water and standard education.
poverty. “In urban poverty, the urban poor deal with a complex aggregate of chronic and acute stressors (including crowding, violence, and noise) and are dependent on often-inadequate large-city services” (Jensen). It seems that people become subject to their surroundings and although they have better facilities than those in rural areas, there are usually too many people to access it fairly. “With rural poverty there are more single-guardian households, and families often have less access to services, support for disabilities, and quality education opportunities” (Jensen). In rural areas, the necessities needed to maintain a healthy and well-off life are usually further away than most people would like. These six types of poverty are relevant all over the world. Through people’s surroundings, family lives, and certain situations, many people are in poverty.
