Poverty Is Not For A Decent Job

At this moment in my life I would not consider myself poor but, according to Jo
Goodwin Parker’s definition of poverty I am. Parker defines poverty as not having enough money for necessities, none for luxuries or pleasure, is a single parent, has very little education, and has little or no access to healthcare. I am still in school so obviously I do not have the proper education to get a decent job. With the part time job that I do have I don’t make enough money to have that many luxuries. If it were not for my parents help the money that I do make would definitely not be enough for me to afford all of the necessities that I need to have a decent life. If
I was completely dependent on myself I would be in poverty.
Having a degree is vital in today’s world if you want to live a decent life. I am still in school right now so being able to get a good, full time, well paying job is almost impossible. The best job someone in my position could probably get is a part time job during the week that allows them to work full time on the weekends. Going to school is time consuming and eats into the hours that you could be working if you had more free time. Most of the jobs that do pay enough money to give you a decent life require degrees. A high school diploma is no longer enough to get someone a decent job that can pay the bills and everything else that life can throw at you.
