CHD Preparedness Expectations Year 1, 2016-2017 During 2016-2017, all County Health Departments (CHDs) adopted preparedness evidence-based expectations, which Regions 2 and 5 previously tested and implemented as a pilot project. This report provides a preliminary summary of the CHD Preparedness Expectations completed during the year 1 and reported quarterly by the CHDs. During the year 2016-2017, CHDs submitted a customized 3-year work plan; CHD planners had the flexibility to adopt the suggested work plan or choose a different year of completion for the deliverables, because the new set of CHD Preparedness Expectations included activities that may have been completed previously or were taking place at that time. All Three Counties have their own unique traits that conjures up new business giving them some sort of advantage over the other. They all have tourism in common, as does any Florida County. Citrus County has the wildlife refuge, the manatee tours, and the “Manatee cam.” (Commissioners, 2017) Marion has the equestrian attraction which is very lucrative. Horses are big money and Marion County is the, “Horse Capital of the World.” (Marion County, 2017) Alachua County has the Gators and the University of Florida as well as Santa Fe College. People love their college football and they sure do spend a lot of money to show their pride and support for said brand. The question is, which county has the competitive advantage over the other two counties, If at all. Let’s look at them now.

This program will require a 24-month time frame. The Gantt Chart below is a visual representation of major tasks that will need to be completed in order to make this program from conception to reality. The first 10 months of the program are a part of the planning phase. During this phase, the staff for the Evidence Based Practice Department will be hired. They will study the hospital’s existing protocols in attempts to identify weak points. Once the weak points are identified, they will research the best evidence based practices that will replace those weak points and create new protocols. After the creation of the new protocols, they will teach the new protocols to all the medical staff. Month 10 to 22 is the implementation phase. During this phase, the changes to the protocols are allowed to take effect and hopefully reduce the Healthcare-Associated Infections at CMC. The last 3 months of the program is the Evaluation Phase. All of the data that was collected will be reviewed and the program will be evaluated. (See Figure 1).
