Aviation. A topic that both inspires and I still fear into many. I happen to find aviation very inspiring. There are a few reasons why I chose to take “Private Pilot Ground School”, to get prepared for flight school, to learn the basics of flight, and because I have aspirations of being a pilot after high school and college in both the military and commercially for a big corporation such as Delta. Being as I just transferred to West Michigan Aviation Academy, and with very basic knowledge of flying, I wanted to take this class to broaden my knowledge and take the prerequisite to the flight class. I feel that this class will have unending use and will help me throughout my career. Secondly, I took this class to learn the basics of flight and maybe a little bit …show more content…
When I am discharged from the military I hope to have all of my flight hours in to be able to fly for a commercial airline. Being the C-130J-30 is a bigger plane, this would prepare me well for being a commercial pilot for Delta where I would like to fly Boeing 747’s. I would like to start off small flying privately for a CEO or other top official at a company to start off my career after my military career. This is a small slow start but the opportunities are endless, and wouldn't be as overwhelming as jumping straight up to flights with hundreds of people and a very busy schedule. In the end, I took this class for a few reasons, to get prepared for flight, to learn the basics of flight, and lastly because I have aspirations of being a pilot after high school. I hope all goes well in my journey in becoming a pilot so that I can pursue my childhood dream of becoming a pilot for Delta. These are all the reasons I have for taking this class and the aviation aspirations that I
Being in this class gave me insight on the way that I learn. I’ve had my share of jobs along with schooling and various other learning experiences. Some good, some bad but I can honestly say that I never noticed the pattern on how I learn. Now I know I learn more by being more of a hands on person. Also utilizing my thinking and problem solving skills has helped with my growth. I also found it important to use my reflective observation too. Mostly combining different learning styles have helped me in life to understand the way I learn and the benefits that could come if I use my strengths to further my ambitions.
My initial interest in the Air Force Academy was sparked when I accompanied my parents to a Military Child Education Coalition conference in the summer of 2004. My father and I, not involved in the conference, decided to spend the week exploring the Colorado Springs area, and after touring for several days, decided to go to what my father called "Zoomie U". We took the typical summer tourist tour, but I was enthralled. The chapel, the mountains, and the campus excited me, despite my youth. I spent the rest of the vacation asking questions on how to go to the Academy, what I could do in the Air Force,
I chose to take this course because I am preparing to transfer and this class meets the UC art requirement. Also this class doubles for me as my last major requirement for a second AS degree in behavior and social sciences. Although there was actually one other class (LALS 14) that I could have taken that fulfilled those requirements I picked this course because it looked like it offered something entirely different to what I have already received thus far in my educational journey. My end goal is to become a nurse one day and I want to make sure I chose classes that will expose me to different things and enable me to become well-rounded and educated
My goal in attending a United States Service Academy and becoming an officer in the military is to provide myself ample opportunities to reach my established life goals. I plan to pursue a career in aerospace engineering, and developing that career through one of the academies will help me to achieve the dreams I had as a child. I have many strengths that will help me stand out in the application process, but at the same time, I have challenges to overcome. However, these obstacles will not hinder me from from pursuing my passion.
Reading over the outcomes and objectives, how will the skills developed in this class apply to your chosen career or field of study? If you are “undecided,” how will these skills help you in your future in college and in general?
I decided to take this class because I am interested in learning the basics for the medical field. I am interested in being a pediatrician because I enjoy working with children. I look forward to helping families by curing a sickly child or completing a usual check up. No one in my family has entered the field of medicine. I chose the medical field because I feel as if I can provide help for people who need it. Although these are my interest, I am still undecided for what I what for my future and I'm hoping this class can help me make the best
2. Explain why you took this course and what you hope to learn from it.
Before taking this course I was really excited about what I am going to learn. And I was right! This course is not only interesting but it is also helpful. I have learned that the grade I am having right now is the reflection of my try throughout the entire semester.
I've been in love with flight since January 3rd of 2014, when I flew with Mach 1's instructor Laura McGhee. That day, I witnessed the beauty of flight in a small plane for the first time. To this day, I still remember the excitement I felt when I sat in the Cessna Skyhawk 172 and the indescribable feeling during takeoff. That was the day I discovered that I want to fly. The freedom in its purest form, the joy that swells within, my personal experience and knowledge I gained in ground school, and the possibility of a future career in aviation are why I've decided that I crave flight, and why I want to fly.
According to the Department of Defense Education Activity website, “the average military child will move six to nine times during a school career”—three times more frequently than non-military children (DoDEA, 2016). Because of this, military children have difficulty in school due to “differences in achievement standards, school protocols, course offerings, extracurricular activities, and academic requirements” (DoDEA, 2016). According to the Department of Defense Education Activity website, the Department of Defense Dependents Schools are schools who serve more than 73,000 children of active duty military and Department of Defense families.
Once when I was going through high school, it was my senior year and people constantly asked me. What profession I was going to do? I always said I do not know what I am going to do. Then a friend came and said that the A&P mechanics were always hiring. Therefore, my friend and I started talking about planes. I had always been interested in planes; I always wanted to be in the air force, I could not join the air force because of my glasses and medical conditions. When my friend found out that W.A.T.C. was teaching A&P mechanics. He influenced me to join W.A.T.C. to get my license to become an A&P mechanic.
This was a great class, and I learned a lot this semester. One thing that I learned from this class
What are your plans for after high school? How can this class help in your future plans?
Coming from humble beginnings in Taylor, Michigan a medium sized town of 60,000 thirty minutes from the heart of Detroit and living just near Detroit Metropolitan International airport. I was came to be fascinated by anything related to the world of aviation hearing the powerful roar as the engines spooled up and seeing such a massive object like a jumbo jet tumbling down the runway it always amazed me to see such a thing take to the sky. Seeing the airplanes coming in and coming out made me think to myself where the people onboard have been the places they’re coming from, where they are going, all the interesting and far off places that I didn’t know if I’d ever see my lifetime. This inspired me when I was 18 years old to join the United States Air Force and get paid to fix and work on these massive machines.
It allowed me to create a possible four year plan for success as I go through college. My academic plan taught me about required coursework and internships I must complete before graduation. I now know some of the options that I have for potential internships. This course was very beneficial as I transitioned into my freshman year of college. I was walked into college at a pace that was slower than most other freshman experience in this class to help me transition to college.
