Propaganda is the specialty of influencing others to your side of the story as the right way of thinking. The propaganda forms used in today’s society end up treating people as a means rather an end. Basically, it looks at people today, as being incapable of making wise choices and researching out the matter fully. Propaganda is unavoidable and it is all over in places such as social media, newspapers, television and advertisements. In addition, the feelings that individuals have toward the activities that are taking place constantly change contingent upon their own perspective. My goal is to have my reader have a better understanding of how propaganda is used and the ability to identify it. I also want to allow my reader to become informed on how it can affect presidential elections and governmental actions that affect people in the USA. In doing some research, I have come across how there are different techniques that are used for accomplishing the desired goal of those that use it. According to Jo Anne Gill’s Propaganda Techniques, she has described it as, “a propaganda technique is an improper appeal to emotion used for the purpose of swaying the opinions of an audience.” She goes on to list six different types which include 1) Bandwagon: getting people to follow the same pattern as everyone else. 2) Snob appeal: appealing to those who should perform a certain way in order to feel a sense of luxuriousness. 3) Vague, undefined terms: which are oftentimes meaningless words used to challenge opinions. 4) Loaded words: words used with emotion such as name calling. 5) Transfer: association patterns between both positive and negative elements. 6) Unreliable testimonial: People who are unqualified in endorsing items or
