America is at a crossroads. We are on a dangerous path of inequality, environmental distress, strained race relations, and the increasing threat of gun violence, police brutality, and terrorism. The 2016 election represents a potential mandate on the future of this country. There could be more of the same, with typical establishment candidates keeping us on the road we are on. There are also outsiders who feel America needs to be radically changed, but the needed change is highly debated. The winner of the election will help determine where America is going. There is a movement to bring this country up to the standards set by European countries like Germany, Norway, and Denmark. Contrastingly, there is a movement to bring this country back …show more content…
There is the establishment favorite (Hilary Clinton), and the populist darling (Bernie Sanders). Hilary’s once seemingly impenetrable lead has dwindled in the wake of her scandals and the rise of Sen. Sanders. All of the Democrats in this election have been voicing concerns over similar issues, and their stances are often hard to differentiate. There is a consensus to raise the minimum wage, fight income inequality, combat climate change, and continue some of the progressions we have made since the recession. The differences between the candidates are more in their record, character, and viability as …show more content…
His focuses are the real issues that face America, and he has spent his whole life devoted to them. He is not bought by big money, and he is not afraid to stand up to the corporate powers that silently rule this country. He calls for getting money out of politics, and legislating education and health care to be rights of all Americans. His main fight is the one for lessening income inequality. There are videos of Bernie fighting against inequality twenty years ago, and the problem has only gotten larger. He is not the prettiest man running (hello Chris Christie), but he is the crazy disheveled Grandpa that this country needs to put it back on the right track. It seems to many that Hilary already has the nomination in hand, and because of that people some don’t view Bernie as a serious candidate. That apathy is dangerous to the nation. When liberals go out and vote, liberals win. There is a sense of enthusiasm behind Bernie that Hilary just does not have. Enthusiasm wins elections, and it’s hard for any in-tune forward thinker to not be enthusiastic about the prospect of President Bernie
The people have come to have faith in his views on American politics. He stands strong without the millions of dollars all the other wealthy candidates have. Bernie Sanders has many of America’s support that volunteer to help his views be known in 47 states when he has no staff members to pay for. Sanders already impacted many people who believe this revolution will change America for the better of all people. The greatest weapon in America is not wealth and power. The greatest weapon is the vote by the people. (“The Gospel” 34)
In opposition to most states, Texas is one of a handful to do partisan elections to vote for judges. Contrasting viewpoints try to decide on whether the voting system should be partisan or nonpartisan bringing much debate in the election of the judicial candidates. Some argue the system should change because of possible bias both by the electorate and of the judge, others contend it is necessary to know what party the judges affiliate with in order to know what way they lean may lean in their final judgement. Many arguments bring to light the benefits and drawbacks of each system, critiquing the justness, dependability, and impartiality.
I believe Bernie Sanders is the best for the presidential position because he wants to help immigrants who are undocumented here and will do better for this country. He is a flared candidate who has an important message to the people, record free of evildoing and corruption. No other candidate has the credibility Bernie has on economy. For decades no one has paid attention to the American economy when it rigged in favor of the billionaire class at the expense of everyone else. Now people are finally picking their heads up and listening. Love him or hate him, everyone knows Sanders has integrity.
Senator Sanders plans to give each citizens access to universal healthcare so no citizen will be denied health and medicine. Throughout his political career he voted yes and no on bills going through Senate and he voted each time on bills that expanded healthcare or made it more affordable. He plans on taxing the rich at higher rates, same taxes from resolving the income inequality, and set forth a system of taxing through the stock system that will create billions over the course of a year (). These new taxes would benefit the middle and lower class because they would finally be able to receive healthcare that many of the poor have had to previously live without. New taxes sound like a bad thing, but in Bernie’s plans it would only affect corporations and the top 10%. These new taxes wouldn’t affect the average taxpayer in anyway resulting in more money out of your paychecks, but would affect them by giving them and every citizen free healthcare despite any poor financial
The egalitarian crusader of equal education has made this one of his main platforms in the race for the 2016 Presidential Election, running against big names like Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. He is an unorthodox choice, but has become a contender in the race to the White House. Sanders fights for civil rights and challenges the status quo against big-money and Wall Street, making him a likable underdog.
One metapor used to describe contemporary elections is “choosing the lesser of two evils”, however, unlike other elections, this year's is one of the most controversial and dividing elections in recent years. This year there is a chance for change, and currently there are four main head runners for the presidential nomination; out of these candidates only one shines as someone who will really change the US for the better, Bernie Sanders. He plans to rejuvenate the economy, and support the middle and lower class. Bernie also is easily one of the only candidates that support civil rights that help the people, not some values that would increase voter polls. When it comes to international affairs Bernie respects other countries and understands
One controversial issue with the senator’s policies is how his bills are going to be passed. If Bernie Sanders were elected, his bills would not make it through the Republican majority congress that is in the United States today. The only option that he is left with is to campaign for a democratic congress; however, “Sanders should be out campaigning for progressive candidates for House and Senate across the country in Democratic primaries, and would need to campaign hard this fall to defeat dozens of Republican incumbents across the country” (Caffrey). In the words of Matt Caffrey, “he hasn’t done any of that.”
“I feel that Bernie Sanders is for the people and not for the corporate [big] businesses, because he’s very personal, real and he answers our questions” said Ashley Balseiro, a sophomore criminal justice major. “He doesn’t avoid answering things.
Bernie Sanders is an American Democrat socialist who is currently the junior United States Senator of Vermont. Before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006, he served as a congressman for sixteen years. He has shown to favor social democratic parties similar to those in Europe. He likes to voice on many issues such as corporate welfare, global warming, income inequality, parental leave, universal healthcare, racial injustice, and LGBT rights.

Currently, Hillary Clinton is front-runner for the 2016 Democratic presidential nominations, as well as Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nominations. Unfortunately, this year’s election is filled with controversy surrounding both opponents and the upcoming presidential election. According to New York Times, immigration has been a particularly contentious issue in the Republican primary, providing fodder for numerous attack. As well as a string of high profile mass shootings fail reignited the nation’s debate over gun violence. Last but not least, the issue of abortion largely splits the candidates along party

When we were younger we have always dreamed of being an astronaut, a princess, a firefighter, and the President of the United States. Have the 2016 candidates changed the minds of those who had the dream of being President? “Who to vote?” maybe this is the main question you are asking yourself now that 2016 election is approaching. Many of politicians may have bad qualities; however they also have good qualities to be proud of. Some voters will be confused who to vote because of the good qualities that the candidates possess. Also, some voters will be choosing none of the people who are running for a certain position. To have certainty this coming election, voters should be given a choice for “none of the above” this coming election.
