The topic that I have chosen to write about is should there be more gun control laws be enacted. What does gun control do you may ask? Gun control is any kind of firearm that is bought or sold. What will be in the essay will be different things of Pros and Cons on the different things that gun control is in. The gun control law should not be enforced more is should be managed better for people who do not know what they are doing. The Second Amendment protects the people the rights to own guns. As us the people we have the right to bare arms for the need of protecting ourselves. Gun control laws would reduce gun deaths, but gun control laws do not determine crime gun owners determines crime. On the Pro side there were four hundred and sixty-four thousand thirty-three total gun deaths between 1999 to 2013. If we enforced the gun law more then it can drop the death rate with guns down since deaths with guns is the 12th leading cause of deaths. Children at the age of 15 or younger were more likely die from a gun accident then children in wealthy countries. If we did background checks on people when they buy ammunition purchases the deaths could reduce by eighty percent. As the saying goes “guns don’t kill people, people with guns kill people”. In 1980 to 2009 assault weapons bans have not affected murder rates at the state level. If people could just not get so mad and want to kill somebody for no reason, then we would not have to deal with this problem all the time. States with the largest increases in gun owners have the largest drops in violent crimes. Eighty four percent shooting victims have declined when the state passed the laws. When people have weapons on them it makes it much easier for a criminal to hurt them because it makes the criminals job much easier to harm you or threat you if the criminal sneaks up on you and gets your weapon then you are screwed then. I think that it kind of be both because if we have the law enforced then less people will die but on the other end what is the law going to do to people who will go against the law. Enacting gun control laws such as mandatory safety features would reduce the number of accidental gun deaths. There was fifty percent of accidental shootings that
The United States has 88.8 guns per 100 people, or about 270,000,000 guns, which is the highest total and per capital number in the world. 22% of Americans own one or more guns (35% of men and 12% of women). America's pervasive gun culture stems in part from its colonial history, revolutionary roots, frontier expansion, and the Second Amendment, which states: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Proponents of more gun control laws state that the Second Amendment was intended for militias; that gun violence would be reduced; that gun restrictions have always existed; and that a majority of Americans, including gun owners, support new gun restrictions.
Anyone who believes strengthening the gun control laws would reduce gun violence is correct. However, if someone wants to kill someone, not having a gun is unfortunately not going to stop him or her. If a gun is not accessible, a person who wishes to kill someone will use another weapon that is accessible, such as a knife or bludgeon of sorts. Banning guns will lessen gun violence, but will bring up a rise in violence with other weapons.
Not having gun control will have less accidental deaths. People need to learn more about guns. It is good to have some gun education so you know all the information that will help you learn how to protect and how to
un control is a very controversial topic especially in today's society; whether gun control is good or bad is a very talked about subject especially when it comes to the United States. This is a very touchy subject because guns are a part of a lot of people's daily lives. People that are anti gun control believe that no one should be able to put any restrictions on guns. They believe that people should be able to buy a firearm just like a pair of boots or a tool. They also believe that if someone were able to take away the firearms from the law abiding citizens that just leaves firearms in the hands of people that do not abide by the law and leaves them defenseless. In 1791 our founding fathers gathered and ratified the Second amendment. The
As opponents against gun control have numerous reasons as to why guns should not be restricted amongst the American public but pointed to the Second Amendment to the United Constitution as the main reason why gun control should not be permitted in the U.S. However, what these critics do not want to accept is that since 1980, several crucial events in the United States have led to excessive gun control movement. Remarkably, it takes a lot more than one appalling catastrophe to influence Americans that more attention should be taken into monitoring the number and types of guns the public can get access to. However, some major shooting calamities in the U.S such as assassination attempts on President Reagan’s, Columbine, Virginia Tech, and Sandy Hook have all triggered majority of Americans to take a stance in favor of gun control legislation. The first key push in the direction of the gun control movement begun during the era of Ronald Reagan presidency since he happened to be of one of the most “pro gun” presidents in American history.
In the world today, we often hear about the gun control debate. There are two main, obvious sides in the debate, to enforce more rules for gun control or to leave things the way they are. I believe in the Second Amendment right to bear arms given to all citizens of the United States by the Constitution.
One of the most heated and debated issues in today's community is of gun control. Lately it has been a problem to many Americans due to recent gun crime, but with new laws it may not only affect those who oppose firearm but those who rely on it for self defense. Society benefits from firearms in the hands of responsible citizens. Attempts to keep firearms away from such citizens does more harm than good.
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." - The Bill of Rights.“The 21st century” a backdrop for the War On Terror, has since changed that view on the right to bear arms enough to call for major gun reform. Orlando, Florida 50 killed and 53 injured June 12, 2016. San Bernardino, California 16 killed and 24 injured December 2, 2015. The media slanders two weapons of so called “terror”, the infamous AK-47 and the AR-15. The AK-47 a soviet made weapon a by product of the cold war, and the AR-15 a weapon invented to combat the AK-47. Both weapons are used in many mass shootings, in fact the New York Times calls both assault rifles
Gun Control is a very controversial topic discussed among many different people. With over 270 million registered firearms owned in the US there is a lot to debate about. (navajocode). People have many different opinions ranging from having to guns available to the public to making it readily available to obtain a gun. Gun control is a broad term that encompasses most thing involving the process and transport of obtaining a gun. It covers any sort of restriction on what kinds of firearms can be sold and bought, who can posses these guns, where they can stored and what obligations both the buyer and the seller have to report to the government. (NYTime.com). There are many conditions one has to meet to be able to buy a gun, such as not have been charged with a crime that had you stay in jail for more than one year and not being not being addicted to or using an illegal substance. With violent crime rates increasing across the nation, more people need to be able to defend themselves. Stricter gun control is not necessary and there should be less restrictions on guns.
Gun Control is a set of laws that provide limitations on gun ownership by civilians. Gun control has been argued over many years due to advances in technology with weaponry, and whether it is actually necessary to keep the limitations. One major example people are for gun control are the previous acts of terrorism on the United States. People are concerned that background checks are not being performed or not examined deep enough. Background checks one possible way to keep gun control under fair limits. Although the U.S government can not fully ban the ownership of weapons to civilians, there are some limitations that can be questionable. Limitations such as gun modifications to make them more lethal seems like a limitations that should not even exist. But because of recent events
Each citizen needs a gun to protect themselves from bad people and bad people and unlawful people don’t need guns. In today’s society, there are so many pro and con arguments for gun control laws. One pro argument is that if we had more gun control laws this would lower gun deaths within our country. One con argument is gun control laws do not prevent crime but gun ownership can stop or discourage crime.
Do we need gun control laws? Should everyone own a gun for self-defense? Gun control is a hot button issue, especially in the wake of so many recent, tragic mass shootings. It is also a polarizing issue, which means that it tends to divide people.People should have guns for self defense. I believe certain people shouldn't be able to have guns for these reasons why. The most common state gun control laws include background checks, waiting periods, and registration requirements to purchase or sell guns, Most states prevent carrying guns, including people with a concealed carry permit, on K-12 school grounds and many states prevent carrying on college campuses. Some states ban assault weapons.
One major problem in our society currently, is gun rights. There are two parts to this everlasting debate on these rights. The side that agrees and says “If we do not have guns to protect ourselves with, that would put a lot of us in serious danger”, and there is the side that says “Take away the right for people to own a gun, If we make it illegal there will be less murders and deaths.”
Mass shootings have become very common over the last few years. From January 1 to November 5 in 2017, there had been 307 shootings in which four or more people were injured or killed. Many think that the problem can be stopped with gun control, which is basically the regulation of the purchase and ownership of firearms in an effort to reduce their criminal or unsafe use. Others disagree, and say that gun control interferes with our second amendment. Overtime, we will have to come to a conclusion to stop the problem.
Thesis statement: Stricter gun control laws and licensing are necessary in America and the country at large to save lives
