On the night of October 1, 2017, a gunman named Stephen Paddock, opened fired on a crowd of people that were attending the Harvest Music Festival on the Las Vegas Strip. Within 10 minutes, the 64-year-old fired hundreds of rifle rounds from his suite on the 38th floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino, killing 58 people, injuring 546, and devastating the entire nation. When authorities finally arrived on the scene about an hour later, Paddock was found dead from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. The motive of the attack is still unknown. This is the deadliest mass shooting committed by a single person in modern United States history. Countless other incidents have occurred in the past 20 years that have made the American population question the leaders of this country for the gun control policies put in place. It also allowed for questioning of the meaning and interpretation of the Second Amendment. There is an extreme division between American people when it comes to gun control laws. The argument over whether stricter gun laws will never to seize to exist so long as there is still crime that is committed using firearms. The support from both sides of the argument are exceedingly strong. The side that is in favor of stricter gun control laws argue that with more laws implemented, the needless loss of life can be prevented. They believe there should be stricter laws on who can own a gun and how they can acquire it. Advocates believe that gun control laws would prevent
The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun. If gun laws become opposed to the law, then only criminals will have guns. Stricter gun laws will not stop a madman from killing. In fact, 34% of mass shooters were prohibited from owning weapons; although, a surveyed showed 57% of gun owners believe guns are too easy to buy and 35% of people who carry guns would make Americans feel safer. Gun control will only affect the law-biding citizens simultaneously as the demand of illegal weapons on the black-market increases. Background checks will only restrict criminals from legally buying a firearm, but that does not stop a mentally ill person; which are usually the ones to start a shooting massacre. The second amendment literally states “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Protected by the second amendment, it will be hard to regulate guns because now every single individual has a right to bear arms. For example, the Texas Baptist church shooter was gun downed by an armed citizen. Had there been stricter gun laws in Texas towards not being able to have a concealed firearm in public, the shooter could have gotten away. People should have the right to exercise the second amendment; therefore, gun control will not work because criminals will always find a way to obtain guns, supply and demand on the black market will increase and there are more existing weapons than people in the U.S.
The article “Gun Control Laws: Should the United States adopt stronger gun control laws?” focuses on the debate on passing stricter gun control laws. For example, supporters believe that gun control laws will decrease mass shootings and gun violence. Additionally, adopting these laws does not violate the Second Amendment, and as a result it does not limit the government from the use of fire arms when it is necessary. However, opponents argue that the gun control laws will not stop gun violence. The problem is the people holding the gun and not the gun itself. Furthermore, opponents gathered that stronger gun control laws do violate the Second Amendment. The author illustrates the debate on whether the United States should or should not adopt stronger gun control laws.
The debate over gun control has been raging through the American political systems for years. On one side, there is the National Rifle Association (NRA) and 2nd Amendment-citing citizens who use their firearms for hunting and self-defense. On the other, there is Handgun Control Inc. (HCI) and followers of the Brady Campaign who want to ban guns on the basis that they are dangerous. Both sides have strong arguments, anchored in historical precedent and statistical analysis. Anti-gun control lobbyists’ arguments include the guarantee of the 2nd Amendment, the definition of “militia” as any adult male, self-defense, the relative uselessness of permits and regulations, and court cases in favor of firearm possession. Pro-gun control activists
You’re in your house and someone breaks in. Oh no, gun control laws said you can’t have a gun! You have no protection, so you’re dead within seconds. This is why the U.S. does not need tougher gun control laws. We need guns for protection, we should have the right to conceal one at all times, and the second amendment says we can have a firearm.
The second amendment to the Constitution upholds the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Throughout American history there have been many regulations placed on gun ownership, but they prove to be ineffective as almost anyone can obtain a gun through both legal and illegal methods. Many gun control legislations meant to regulate gun ownership have been stalled in Congress. Recent events in the past decade, such as the Las Vegas shooting in October 2017 and the Sandy Hook shooting in December 2012, seem to provide more than enough reason for stricter gun control laws in the United States, but there is not much progress being made to establish stricter laws as both sides of the debate cannot come to a fair compromise. If the United States were to adopt stricter gun control laws, there would be fewer mass shootings, a lower firearm-related injuries and accidental death, and less violent crime. For these reasons, the United States should pursue new gun laws to create a safer environment for everyone.

Did you know that we lose more than 36,000 americans to gun violence every year in this country. That is why we need tougher Gun-control laws is because we have too much gun violence,we have to many guns, and we need stronger gun control. The first, reason why we need tougher gun-control law is because we have too much gun violence. Some evidence which is said by Does the U.S need tougher gun-control law said “ no other democracy in the world experiences this level gun violence.” this means that the united states of america is the only country in the world with so much gun violence.which is why we need stronger gun control laws.
Gun Control has been a main topic lately throughout social media and news networks due to all the mass school shootings and other gun related crimes! People are calling for stricter laws on gun control. In 1981 President Reagan rejected a call for additional gun legislation, saying “there are today 20,000 gun control laws in effect being federal, state, and local in the U.S.”. So what we should be asking for instead of stricter laws on gun control is the laws that are already in place be enforced more diligently. Thus insuring less criminals and mentally ill are able to obtain firearms and commit heinous crimes. Everyday 96 people of all ages die from gunshot wounds either by murder, assault, suicide,or police intervention. With already 20,000
“It's not a gun control problem; it's a cultural control problem” said Bob Barr. For the past 19 years, gun violence in America has been on the rise. As the years go by, stricter gun laws have been enforced, but instead of alleviating the issue, gun violence continues to increase. In his article Standing up to Violence Craig Sautter incurs that “ the American public -- numbed by decades of television, radio, newspaper, and real-life images of dehumanizing violence -- has not responded to the loss of so many children and teenagers with the same sorrow, anger, or grief as was roused by Vietnam”. As the quote indicates, the American public does not react immediately to violence within their communities until massacres like the Aurora, Colorado
Gun control is one of the most controversial topics in the United States today. With all of the violence erupting and school shootings, and all these horrific cases we are seeing in todays society, the question of stricter gun control has become a hot topic. There are three sides to gun control and one is either for it, against it, or neutral about it. The second amendment has given us the right to bear arms, which is the reason why we citizens are able to purchase and obtain firearms. The second amendment is the reason why the U.S has not gotten rid of firearms in the ownership of citizens in the first place and this is why it is so controversial because it is our given right to be able to obtain these firearms. There is many reasons as into why there should be stricter gun control but at the same time there is reasons why there should not, and in this essay I will be going over facts that will support either side. We have all seen what guns can do in the wrong hands but also the good they do in the hands of the right person.
Lastly, a major component to the right to bear arms comes from the interpretation of the Second Amendment to represent an individual’s rights to bear arms not only for individual protection but also for the protection of tyranny from a government. Previously in the United States the idea that the Second Amendment was meant to protect this right, was only one that shared by fringe individuals however, in recent years this has become a more legitimate argument. It appears that on a daily basis the government may be corrupt and many American citizens doubt if they can trust the government at all. David Welna, of National Public Radio wrote an article referencing the idea that tyranny is now a mainstream idea. He explains that in the aftermath
Implementing gun control in the United States would only result in more chaos and increased rebellion from citizens who responsibly and legally own firearms. In doing so, the law-abiding citizens would be left defenseless against the criminals who continue to obtain guns illegally. Not only that, but the 2nd amendment rights of the United States Constitution would be diminished and the crime in the community would remain the same or perhaps increase. Gun control would not stop criminals from illegally obtaining guns, the community could be under more protection, and the Constitution of the United States would remain intact if a control was not placed.

The second amendment of the United States Constitution continues to be debated by many. “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” There have been multiple mass shootings recently in the United States. For example, the Las Vegas shooting that took place on Sunday, October 1st. In the Las Vegas shooting, fifty-eight people were killed and four hundred eighty nine were wounded. Another recently shooting took place in Sutherland Springs, Texas, on November the fifth. Twenty-six people were killed as of a result of this shooting. Gun laws need to be stricter because gun violence is out of control.
America has a problem and people do not want to face the reality of our nation needing stricter gun control laws. Many argue the country does not have a gun problem and justify their own opinions claiming guns do not shoot themselves (Gun Control Laws). Those who argue said opinion have a point. Guns do not pick themselves up and pull the trigger; people pull triggers. Others argue gun ownership to be a right, as stated in the Second Amendment of the Constitution, and oppose stricter gun control measures, arguing “that any law that would curb access to guns violates the Second Amendment” and will be beneficial for criminals, as victims would be disarmed if a time would present itself in which people may need to protect themselves or others from harm (Gun Control Laws). While it is true that all citizens have the right to ownership of guns, stricter background checks need to be enforced to acquire weapons, which in the wrong hands, may lead to devastating outcomes.
