Serving on a jury is a civic duty and an American tradition. However, some people view jury duty as a chore or as an event that negatively interrupts their lives. Some independent studies have shown that even jury duty has a devastating effect on married life. Due to this and other extraneous situations, there are only a few people who actually want to serve on a jury. This may lead to efforts by potential jurors to, in some way get out of their duty in a jury. What we know of as the current jury duty system should be changed so citizens are not forced to serve in this capacity and can still be regarded as a responsible civilian. As per the status quo, a trial jury is a constitutional right, a jury of ones peers or equals. However,

I am here by writing this essay to explain, how these organizations in the United States such as the MADD, LULAC, and NAACP can educate and help our fellow citizens of America change laws that might well need to be changed. As well as explaining the common interest these groups are concerned with.

The Secretary of State is the chief elections officer, the protocol officer for state and international matters, and the liaison for the governor on Mexican and border matters. The Secretary carries out the President's foreign policies through the State Department and the Foreign Service of the United States. Currently, the Secratary of State is Rolando B. Pablos. Pablos is an American executive, attorney, and Republican politician who was born on 1967, in Mexico. He was graduated from Cathedral High School in El Paso. Then he graduated from St. Mary's University with a B.A. in Biology in 1992, Pablos also earned an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at San Antonio, a Master's in Hospitality Management from the Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston, and a Juris Doctor from St. Mary's University School of Law in 1998. Talking about his work experience, he served as Texas Public Utility Commissioner and then chairman of the Texas Racing Commission. He was also nominated to serve as Texas Secretary of State by Republican Governor Greg Abbott and confirmed by the Texas Senate on February 14, 2017. Pablos made his first international diplomatic mission to Mexico City, in March 2017, where he affirmed the strong economic relationship between Texas and Mexico.

He represented House District 70. After completing 10 years in the House of Representatives, he was elected to the Texas State Senate where he represented Senate District 8 in both Collin and Dallas counties.

I also found it interesting that he is a licensed pilot. Though he isn’t a Texas native, he has been very active around the community. However, his voting record on many issues in Texas are problematic. It is disturbing that he supported bills like HB 15. This bill requires women to view sonograms before getting an abortion SB 14 is another bill that is alarming to many Texans. The base of this bill would require ID verification when voting. Bills like these and several others restrict Texans ability to participate in the voting process, and the “Sonogram Bill” is just another useless and harmful hurdle that women must go through when making the difficult decision to have an abortion. My personal values to no align with those of Representative Frullo, therefore I would not vote to re-elect Rep. Frullo. Though he has done good in regards to combating abuse of children and strengthening law enforcement, his stance on social issues is a big red flag for

Senator Royce West is the name of my chosen state-level legislative representative. He is a Texas state senator of district 23 from the capitol, his district location is in Dallas Texas. Mr. West is an African American male and also a Christian and a member of Good Street Baptist Church. Senator Royce West represents the Democratic Party and I share the same party preference as a Democratic. Senator Royce West has been in the senate office for twenty- four years, he has be serving since 1992 and as of 2016 still strongly represents Texas.

Representative Huffman represents California’s 2nd Congressional District and has done so since his election in 2013. Regionally, the District is located on the coast of Northern California, stretching from North of San Francisco to the California border with Oregon. Furthermore, the District is made up of several counties, including Marin, Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, Trinity, and parts of Sonoma. Because of the lack of large urban centers such as Los Angeles or San Francisco, the district is rather large in terms of area, with most of the population being distributed is some small cities and large towns, such as Windsor, Eureka, and Crescent City.

My U.S. Representative is Devin Nunes. Nunes belongs to the Republican party, and has served in the House of Representatives since 2003. Nunes is 43 years old and is chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, as well as a member of the Ways and Means Committee. He authored and published Restoring The Republic in 2010. Nunes graduated from Cal Poly, receiving a bachelor’s in agricultural business and a master’s in agriculture. At the age of 23, he was elected to public office as one of California’s youngest community college trustees. Octaviano Ambrosio Larrazolo- Octaviano Larrazolo was the first Hispanic American to ever hold office in the Senate. He built his career around the defense of Hispanic American civil rights, although he made many enemies in both parties in is efforts he was considered “the great champion of the Spanish American people.” He was always unshifting in his concern for their welfare.

In 2012, Democratic U.S. Congressman Gary Ackerman of New York’s fifth congressional district announced his retirement and would not seek re-election in November of that year. Incumbent Gregory Meeks ran for the open seat and was elected with 74.8% of the vote. He has been reelected two more times (2014-2016 elections) since then. This past election in 2016, Meeks was up against Republican candidate Michael O'Reilly, but Meeks was re-elected with 85.5% of the vote.

A year after he became a council member of the Long Branch City Council, he was first elected a New Jersey state senator from the 11th district, from 1984 to 1988.
