Jessie left a giggling Pucky at the table and went to get them some food. There was something special about the girl, and even if the food stand were only feets away, he kept needing to look back at Puck, not wanting for her to disappear from his line of sight. Coming back ten minutes later, he put the tray in front of her and bow. He had bought her, burritos tacos, and nachos, making sure that she would find something she would like. "I'm sorry to hear about your mom, it must have been hard!" He whispered as he unwrapped his burger. Even if he barely knew her, Jessie had to fight the urge to get up and hug her. Someone like Pucky with so much life must have been shaken hard by the experience to lose her mom at such a young age. He took a
Emma squeezed her eyes as she fought to keep tears back. It was hard to think about her mother, whom she never lied to her before.
" Hey, Slutt Puppy, did you see those kids back here along the barbed-wire fence?". He said they were yelling as he passed by. I asked him what they were yelling and he said: " Daaaaady Daaaaady ". The yellow freight driver shut up, and everyone else that heard this clowning kept laughing. Then, in what appeared to be a voice way off in the background, kept calling me. I go, " who yelling at me ", and the voice said " Me, Rodknocker. I left you in El Paso five days ago and you had them stirred up down there after they got some racial stuff started! " He told me that when I was born, I must of been dropped on my head. I said " No, I fell off the shelf".......................

As she ate the next spoonful of broth, she brutally licked her lips in order to get that miniscule piece of rice that had escaped her mouth as she held the spoon close to her mouth. Gracie was poor and all her abuelita could afford was chicken, and today she had decided to make the chicken into soup. Gracie enjoyed her pleasant, warm food, but she had a different definition of “enjoying food.” Her definition of enjoying a meal was to eat a meal at any cost including using her hands and licking every single finger. The sight of this kind man's eyes made the smallest of smiles turn up on my face and I began to feel that lump in my throat. I reminded myself not to think of her to prevent myself from crying those useless tears. Tears won't bring her back.
“Thank you.” Noelle attempted to say as her mouth was stuffed with brownies. She grabbed the cup to take a sip, crumbs covering her fingertips.
“I’m so sorry about what happened Margot,” the teacher began truly sorrowful. “If there is any way I could help you feel better”.
