Question 1 A dilemma is a situation whereby one is confused not knowing what to select between two ideas. An ethical dilemma is a complicated situation that involves the expectations of a workplace whereby abiding by one will lead to going against of the other ethic. In this case, it meets the principles of decree, Dr Matthews in an ethical dilemma not knowing whether to respect the parent’s and child’s request not to disclose the case of sexual assault or to report the matter to the relevant authorities for action to be taken. A patient has a right to privacy but the law requires psychologists to enhance human dignity. The girl has a right to her information not being revealed but the case of assault should be reported this leaves Dr Matthews in a dilemma. This dilemma is covered by the principle of respect for people’s right and dignity. Question 2 The parents as the stakeholders will be affected negatively if Dr Matthews resolves the dilemma and decides to report the case; their daughter will be seen as impure and may not be married but this is to her importance she will get the required treatment and the case will be handled accordingly by the authorities. Question 3 Irina’s age and parent’s involvement in the case’ Irina is a minor so it is logical for her parents to be in charge of making decisions for her. The parent’s should be made aware of the consequences of concealing this information and the extent to which their daughter was assaulted. It does not only help to

I feel it is a person’s choice and it is different than suicide. It has to be well thought out and talked about with a team of people involved including physicians, psychologists, and family. I also think it is based more on
An ethical dilemma is defined as a moral issue, where a situation has two equivalent undesirable alternatives and neither choice will resolve the ethical predicament.
People from all walks of life face many ethical dilemmas. These dilemmas have consequences. Our worldview determines how we deal with these dilemmas, and guides us to the right decisions. In this essay, I will examine an ethical issues through my Christian worldview. I will also present other viewpoints, and compare them to mine.
Ethical dilemmas occur when there is a disagreement about a situation and all parties involved question how they should behave based on their individual ethical morals. (Newman & Pollnitz, 2005). The dilemma that I will be addressing in this essay involves Michael, recently employed male educator working in the nursery, and parents of a baby enrolled at the centre. The parents have raised concerns about male educators changing their child’s nappy as they have cultural practices that do not allow this practice to take place. This situation is classed as an ethical dilemma as there is a dispute between cultural beliefs and legal requirements within the workplace. There are four parties involved (parents, child, educator and director), all
Matters related to confidentiality and disclosures are legal issues, both adult and children have the right to confidentiality, in some situations it is not possible to maintain it. In some circumstances confidentiality has to be broken, if there is a concern of an individual wellbeing or aware of a crime, that must be reported to the necessary authority. A normal code of conduct process must be abided by when breaking confidentiality.
Qu. 1. Is Tavion’s mother’s statement of concern of abuse sufficient to warrant further investigation by the hospital?
Another issue of doing research with foster children is the reality that some of those children might be being abused. The issue of consent is again complicated because of the relationship between abused child and abusive guardian. Kinard provides three special situations where procedures for interviewing an abused child might need provisions: when a child is distressed by the interviewing or testing; when a child’s answers or test results indicate emotional problems; and when a child’s answers or comments indicate that the child is being abused. Kinard comments that the decision regarding whether to inform the guardian and/or others about the child’s answers must balance a guardian’s right to know against the child’s right to privacy. However, she notes that the decisions made under these circumstances require intense deliberations (1985).-need to put in quotes? Or change wording-exact copy from study
3.3 Analyse the potential tension between maintaining confidentiality with the need to disclose information a) where abuse of a child or young person is suspected b) when it is suspected that a crime has been/may be committed.
The mother also said that baby V was crying all the time. The definite signs of physical abuse in 1-3 months old, are frequent and persistent crying along with bruises and finger marks especially on cheeks. These signs were manifested by child V. This suggests the presence of physical abuse. Furthermore, the mother stated that the child was not bonding with father which was a vital information. The reason behind that statement should have been investigated in depth. The only effort she made was to suggest the child to take in the General Practice (GP). This shows that she did not have knowledge on the policies to deal with this type of situation. In this aspect, duty of care seems to slip off.
I will argue that it isn’t permissible to withhold information from Merry regarding her medical condition. First, I’ll begin discussing the autonomy and paternalism in the context of the doctor-patient relationship. Second, conceptual issues of ethical dilemma, soft and hard paternalism, and the proposed justification of its implications. Perhaps the strongest argument is how a patient should be treated when they are not acting fully rational.
Discuss the ethical dilemmas PMHNPs sometimes find themselves in and name the opposing ethical principles
Ethical dilemma is often defined as a situation involving two choices that will both have a negative result or both have a positive result. Knowing this, ethical dilemma is found in your every day lives and is illustrated in ways that might not be recognizable at all times. Remember the Titans is a film produced in 2000 about two high schools, one white and one black school, which are combined and integrated. The movie is shown through the eyes and ways of the high school football team where the teams is forced to integrate and they learn to depend on each other. Ethical dilemma is found in this movie several times, but there is one that is found in the basis of the movie, racism.
“Brad is a production engineer at a bicycle company and part of his job includes inspecting broken bikes and drafting the design repairs for their repair” (Bartlett). Brad is considering replacing a broken brake cable with a more durable material, even though the customer did not request it in their order and specifically requested that “No aesthetic changes be made to the bike” (Bartlett). Brad’s manager suggests that his considered actions would go against the company’s policy of “The customer is always right.” Should Brad disobey the manager and the customer to possibly lose his job or go along with
The ethical dilemma is a situation by which it’s difficult to determine whether a situation is can be handled without disappointing both sides. Therefore, an ethical dilemma exists when the right thing to do is clear or when members of the healthcare team cannot agree on the right thing to do. Ethical dilemmas require negotiation of different points of view (potter, Perry, Stockert, & Hall 2011pg 78).
