Quick Exploration FRQ
The new world and the old world are two different worlds with nothing in common. It is true as all the factors consisting of a United community needs to be common but none of the worlds have that in common. The main idea behind this is that both of the worlds are totally different. They do not have anything in common. This is because they have different religion ps, different political systems and different ideologies of survival. In the old world the religion says to wear full clothes and practice it time to time. The new world instead does not have anything as full clothings. The survival ideology in the new world I’d not to have more than 2 children if you have more you have to kill them in order to survive. The old
Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca and his companions, Andres Dorantes, Alonzo del Castillo Maldonado, and Estevan were the sole survivors of a four hundred men expedition. The group of them went about the friendly Indian tribes preforming miracles of healing, with the power of Christianity. At one time five sick persons were brought into the camp, and the Indians insisted that Castillo should cure them. At sunset he pronounced a blessing over the sick, and all the Christians united in a prayer to God, asking him to restore the sick to health, and on the following morning there was not a sick person among them. De Vaca and his companions reached the Pacific coast where the Indians, showed signs of civilization, living in houses covered with straw, wearing cotton clothes and dressed skins, with belts and ornaments of stone, and cultivating their fields, but had been driven therefrom by the brutal Spanish soldiery and had taken refuge in the mountains, de Vaca and his comrades, being regarded as emissaries from the Almighty, exercised such power over these untutored savages that, at their bidding, the Indians returned to their deserted habitations, and began again to cultivate their fields, the assurance being given them by de Vaca and his companions that henceforth they would
A time period that brought two previously isolated worlds together was the Age of Exploration. Great and lasting changes happened for both the Old and New World. This was caused by the European Explorers. Most people argue that European exploration of the Americas had both beneficial and harmful effect. There were more harmful effects brought into the New World.
“’Pre-Columbian’ refers to the period before Columbus landed in the New World”, Carol Strickland wrote in the book The Annotated Mona Lisa (20). Five hundred and twenty-five years ago, Christopher Columbus decided to travel by three ships to discover new countries in the western hemisphere. Columbus and a hundred other men sought out to find a new route for trading and to discover Asia. One of his main goals during this travel was to find civilization somewhere other than where he was, the Old World. On the way of attempting to find these places, Christopher Columbus bumped into what history refers to as the New World. If it wasn’t for finding the New World, the people who were on the ships would have never made it to China alive. There were limited resources on the boat, that would not last throughout the whole trip. When reaching the New World, he discovered there were people living within the society in villages. There were some similarities of these two different worlds but there were more differences. These two worlds both made do with what resources they had. There were more differences because of the resources each of the worlds had and the way their societies were. I believe the New World has given the Old World new opportunities for livestock and other resources but also received some benefits from the Old World. This was the start of making the Old World a better place.
Jonathan Fernando Word Count: " Period 1 The most important change that happened in the Age of Exploration was technological change, specifically the invention of the caravel. “This ship combined the square sails of European vessels with the lateen (triangular) sails of their Arab counterparts. The new rigging made it easier to sail across and into the wind” (Ellis 367). The Latin sails had rectangular sails, meaning that they could harness the wind more effectively, but they would experience drag when the wind moved in the opposite direction.
The discovery of the New World in 1442, created a new era in the European history. As a result of the exciting discovery, a sea trade route called the Columbian Exchange was constructed. The trade route was established to connect the Old World and New World. The Old World is located in the areas of Europe, Africa, and Asia whereas, New World is America. The trade route is very important to history as it helped Europeans explore the New World while still being able to go back to the Old World.
Christopher Columbus changed the Old World in 1492 by accidently sailing to a new land, which was thought to be India but was actually the Americas. He soon found that the goods in the New World were not found in the Old World, and that the New World didn’t have certain goods like the Old World did. People started to exchange goods from the New World to the Old World, and the Old World to the New World. This process was called the Columbian Exchange, and it continued to happen for centuries. When the term, “When Worlds Collide”, is used, it means the exchanging of goods through the Columbian Exchange between the peoples of the New and Old Worlds.
When singing up for “The New World” the soon to be colonists did not know what they were agreeing to. Perhaps there were thoughts of undeniable freedom that drove the group of Britains to this new land and away from their original rulers. Upon arrival the new colonists were bombarded with several new laws and policies that left them with their hands in their mouths. They had just gotten away from their cruel rulers, and now there are supposed to pay all this additional money to help them (“1773”)? No, what happened was that a group of radicals were formed instead and this group slowly formed a revolution. This collection of angry colonists was the root of to separation of the Colonies from Britain, and it all started with the Stamp
Expansion is something that our history has come to know for many years. Throughout all these years of expansion one question arises: is expansion always positive? When thinking about expansion, many people never consider the people affected by it. Expansion in the New World had a negative effect on the Native Americans in North America. The worst effect of expansion can be seen in the loss of native land.
The ottomans were the reason the age of exploration started. They took over europe's trade routes. SInce they couldn't trade, they were in no contact with goods and could not manage wealth. Europe was now turning poor. They knew they had to do something. They started exploring looking for more trade routes
On the other side he discovered a vast body of water that he named "South
New and Old New doesn’t always mean better and change isn’t always good thing. A prime example is the change from when the Old world, Europe sent it explorers to the New world, the western hemisphere. Many things changed between 800CE to 1500CE, but the Europeans belief in a higher power(s) was unchanging. Religion was a very powerful force that brought upon changes that would affect everyone in its path.
What is now called the European Exploration is a period in the sixteenth and seventeenth century when explores went out to search for new land and trading routes. Factors such as economic, political, and cultural were the causes of the exploration.
1. What fundamental factors drew the Europeans to the exploration, conquest, and colonization of the New World? What was the impact on the Indians, Europeans, and Africans when each of their previously separate worlds “collided” with one another? What caused the shift from indentured servant to African slaves as the dominant labor force in the southern colonies?
Until the late 1400's, Europeans did not know the existence of the two American continents ( North and South America ). To the European explorers, exploring the other side of the Atlantic was like exploring an entire different world, hence the name- the New World. In 1492, Christopher Columbus unknowingly discovered the new continent. His original motives for exploring was to find an easier route to Asia but instead, he discovered the New World. Thus; Spain, France and England began sending out conquistadors and explorers to the uncharted terrains of the new continent. Motives for the Spanish, French, and English explorers varied greatly, however, they were similar in some ways. The motives of the Spanish explorers were acquisition of
By definition, a revolution is the overthrow of a suppressive government in favor of a new government, but it is also defined as a large change in society, or how it works. After the discovery of the New World by Christopher Columbus, European Nations competed in a race against one another to claim pieces of the new land. Before Columbus found this land, the sea separating the New World from Europe seemed endless. The Europeans were only interested in the land to the East. But with the New World there was so much to explore. The Europeans tossed aside their old toy to go play with a new one. During this time period of conquest throughout the New World it became known as the Age of Exploration. A New World meant more land, which meant places to build homes and plant crops, and more money to be earned by buying out new houses and selling new crops grown in foreign soil. These times of change are known as the American Revolution.
