Feed by M.T. Anderson (Fact/Idea Chart) 1 quote every 25 pages “I tried to tell myself that...re: sleeping but re: being with your friends and doing great stuff” (Anderson 9). This quote represents how the communication and language is illustrated. Titus thinks like an email, because he uses the word in emails which is, “re” or also known as concerning. Their feed cause them to be interrupted during the learning of school. “That’s one of the greatest things...you can be super smart without every working...you can look things up automatic, like science and History” (Anderson 46). The quote identifies about the people no longer needing school. In addition, the constant info given from the feed makes their identity meaningless. “Also, …show more content…
The author states his views towards Violet, who is viewed as bizarre by even Titus her boyfriend, for wanting to resist the Feed. Titus does not care at the beginning and thinks the corporations that are used in society are good, but he does not realize until the end that consumerism and the society they live in is destructive, in their mind and their body. “It’s just my foot’s fallen asleep… She looked down at the table. I mean my foot isn’t working...It’s happened a couple of times since the hack. Something just won’t work for an hour or two. My finger or something” (Anderson 129). Without their feed, they cannot function properly. They depended on a machine, the feed, to live rather than a heart. Consumerism influenced this society so much to the point where even their own body is like a …show more content…
Unfortunately Feedtech and other investors reviewed your purchasing history, and we don’t feel that you would be a reliable investment at this time. No one could get what we call a “handle” on your shopping habits, like for example you asking for information about all those waw and brag products and then never buying anything. We have to inform you that our corporate investors were like, ‘What’s doing with this?’ Sorry- I’m afraid you’ll just have to work with your feed the way it is” (Anderson 247). This quote shows FeedTech rejecting Violet’s request for a complimentary feed repair. They turn her down because her customer profile was unreliable, because of what Violet did at the beginning, to attempt to resist the feed. It is ironic, because her attempt to resist it came back only to hurt her, and now she will die because she does not have a well- working feed, and there is nothing more she can do about it. “I’m afraid of silence. I’m afraid my memory will go soon. When I try to think about that year that disappeared, from six to seven, it’s nothing. I mean, I can’t remember anything, I can remember remembering, but I can’t remember anything that happened to me right before I got the feed. I’m afraid I’m going to lose my past. Who are we, if we don’t have a past?” (Anderson
In the book, “A Raisin in the Sun”, the family is faced with many challenges. Between gender, discrimination, family, social classes, and the very unique American dream, conflictions surfaced and began to become bigger problems. At the end of the book, the Youngers moved out of their apartment. But, we did not know what the future held for this family. If the Youngers stayed in the old apartment they were living in, they would revert back to their old habits. “Who’s fighting you? Who even cares about you?” (Pg.32). In this quote, Walter talks about his wife’s importance. He shows how vulnerable he was and took out all his anger on her. This quote relates to reverting back to their old habits because Walter and Ruth would continue to complain about how they see no change coming for them to work for.

“That's one of the great things about the feed--which you can be super smart without ever working. Everyone is super smart now. You can look things up automatic, like science and history, like if you want to know which battles of the Civil War George Washington fought in and shit.” (10.3)
Negative word choice such as “evil”, “bad”, and “controlling”, forces the story to take on the idea that future will be gloomy, dark, and oppressive. This diction causes direction opposition to the dream most people hold true in their hearts: A bright and beautiful feature. Titus’s diction supports the mood of foreboding in a different manner. It is known that education is highly valued to people today (or hopefully is). The simple diction we see in Titus raises cause for concern. Words and phrases like “da da da”, “I mean”, “all this stuff” show Titus is not educated to the standards we hold today. Along with a poor excuse for a vocabulary Titus is also repetitive, saying “like” more than once in the same sentence. The idea that our future generations will not be educated enough to properly explain key elements of their own society and way of life raises cause for concern, making the reader feel an uncomfortable possibility that this could indeed happen. M.T Anderson crafts the mood of this scene through diction and the casual appearance of who really controls people in the future, corporations. He chooses the mood of foreboding for this scene because it reflects the rest of the novel, the point being to make the reader aware of the similarities between modern times and this conception
They were not used to eating such foods and this also caused them to feel ill. A lot of the food was filled with bacteria and disease killing a handful of people. (Denetdale, pg
Violet Durn is an important character in Feed because she knew what life is like without the Feed, as well as knowing what life is like with the Feed. Usually, children get their Feed shortly after birth, but Violet's parents got her installed when she was seven years old. "It was thus that I realized that my daughter would need the Feed. She had to live in the world. I asked her if she wanted it. She was a little girl. Of course, she said yes. It was installed." Violet's dad didn't have the Feed and didn't want Violet
• Audience: Feed was written for a young teen audience because in the first few chapters of the book there is evidence of teenage slang such as “null” which means bored or boring. Other evidence that points that the book is for a teen audience is when the moon trip is described as having “rockiness and the suckiness” by the main character. Also most of the characters in the book want to fit in like most teens because in the chapter the nose grid it talks about how Quendy, a teen female character in the book, says, “Omigod! Like big thanks to everyone for not telling me that my lesion is like meg completely spreading.” • Purpose:
In light of what the novel stresses: that making things too easy for humans will ruin the meaning for their existence, the author creates a character essential to get this point across. Violet, Titus’ girlfriend, was different from Titus and his friends. She grew up with less money than them, and with parents against the feed from the start. However, she eventually got the feed, only to run into problems when a hacker damages it permanently. Violet, unlike Titus, understands that companies running the feed were slowly abusing their power to create products they know will have mass appeal. Violet resists this, trying to create a personality profile that cannot fit in with the norms of the feed. Later, when Violet’s feed, which has latched on

“The worst thing in the world is to try to sleep and not to” – F. Scott Fitzgerald.
"Nothing takes place in bed but sleep; or no sleep. I try not to think too much. Like other things, thought must be rationed I intend to last."
Sleep is undoubtedly one of the most essential requirements for the human body to function properly. It plays a very important role in ensuring the wellness of the human body both physically as well as mentally. In fact, the importance of sleep is clear from the fact that it helps you in maintaining a good lifestyle throughout our entire lifetime. Not only does it help maintain our physical and mental health; rather it also helps in maintaining a decent and healthy lifestyle along with ensuring safety from a number of fatal diseases. It is usually said that the mood in which you wake up is largely dependent on the type of sleep you have been in. This in itself is a big proof of the importance of sleep in our lives. While sleeping, our body finally gets its share of rest and it also gets ample time in rejuvenating from all the wear and tear that it went through during the entire day. Not only this, the body is in its own working condition when we are sleeping as this is the time when it supports the healthy functioning of the brain as well as physical attributes of our body.
“The worst thing in the world is to try to sleep and not to, then forcing oneself to stay awake for days on end must surely come a close second.”
Thesis Statement: Sleeping is a positive attribute, which gives you a better chance to be productive and live a healthier lifestyle.
II. Thematic Statement: Most people don’t think about the long term effects of not getting enough sleep you need to function properly. But if we all were to go to
