The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo hosted Randy Houser on February 18 at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center. Randy Houser, born December 18, 1975, is a county music singer and songwriter. Randy Houser was born in Lake, Mississippi. By 2002, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee to begin a songwriting career. He became widely known within the county community for his songwriting skills. He had much success after writing a number one hit for co-writing singles including “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” by Trace Adkins, “Back That Thing Up” by Justin Moore, and “My Cowboy” By Jessie James. After that success, Houser shifted his focus to performing, and started playing at local gigs in Nashville. There was also a prayer for the contestants, and the singing of the national anthem. The rodeo had many events leading up to Randy Houser’s performance which included bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing, and bull riding. Villarreal, page 2 Houser’s performance started off with a glance at his music video for “We Went,” while the band was playing the melody of the song in the background. He then started his way to the stage as he began to sing the song. He engaged the audience numerous times by saying things such as “how are you doing tonight San Antonio,” and “are y’all ready to have a good time tonight?” He was also having the audience sing along to his songs by singing a verse and then facing the microphone to the audience so that the arena would be filled with the audience’s voices.
