I would like to attend college because I want to be able to demonstrate not only to myself but to my family that we can do what we set ourselves to do. I would to do go far in this life and accomplish my life goals. Without college, I will not be able to do my goals. My goals are to graduate from college, one day own my own land so that I can own my own agricultural business, and have my home there too, and I want to be a high school Spanish teacher as well. Most middle aged people of today will tell you that there’s almost nothing in life that you can do without a good college degree. Going to college out of high school is very expensive. I was always told that you are never too old to learn and that you can learn something new every day. I am 56 years old and I am choosing to go back to school by taking courses at the Pierce College.

One of the reasons why I want to attend college is that college will draw in new and vibrant colors to my life; new experiences! Experiences beyond my hometown. This past year I was accepted into Thomas More College, and I got to visit the campus. This lead me thinking of all the possibilities. I knew that I would experience a new environment that would soon become my new home; new friends, new teachers, and best of all a new place to live. I cannot express enough how excited I am to not only having new experiences but also chasing down a career.

College lasts for up to four years, depending on your degree, but most people cannot withstand the time and effort it takes during that process. In a statistics report, it estimated three out of every five four-year college students graduate within six years. A person does not have to be a genius to get through college successfully, but they will need certain skills and traits to help guide them through it. Some classmates do not have these important skills and characteristics, which is why they will not make it far in this hard trip. Many undergraduates do not realize this trip is the beginning to the rest of your life, so sadly some choose to end it before it ever gets the chance to start. These students do not have certain characteristics that one would need to get through college successfully. There are many skills a student needs to possess especially when going to college. One will need to be motivated, structured, and frugal.

There are many reasons and factors to pursue a education in college of any kind. Whether an individual goes to college or not, in some way shape or form it will affect their lives, long term or short term. A person’s education will most of the time have a strong influence on a person's life

~My Motivation~ What motivated me to pursue a college degree is work. I want to make a different in my life by helping others. I do not want opportunities to pass me by because of not having a college degree. My motivation also comes from the not being happy with my current professional work. In order for me to change my feelings about work, I must motivate myself to pursue a college degree.
