My reasons for going to college are probably similar to everyone else’s. I went to college because I wanted a better life for myself and my family. I wanted to be to find a job or make my own so that I would not be living paycheck to paycheck like my parents have to. I mean, no one really wants to live life like that. I know that is not how i want to live my, and that is why I decided to go to college. Another reason was I wanted to go to college was to get a better education than just a High school Diploma. I say this because not many places would take a person seriously if they only had a High school Diploma. My parents wanted me to attend a senior college but I chose not to. It just did not feel right for me. The reason I wanted to attend LaGuardia for a while to figure out more about what I like and what interests me. In the hopes taking what I learned about my likes and interest and picking a college that fits both of these criteria. I am currently unsure of wether I made the right choice attending this college ,but so far the staff at the school has been extremely helpful and it has been very easy to get along with my classmate and learn from my professors. Generally I would like to major in communications, but I do not know what I like most so I chose to major in Liberal Arts:Deaf Studies it was still dealing with communications but it does so through the use of ASL (American Sign Language). I found this very intriguing and exciting since ASL uses manual communications which is mostly comprised of body language and facial expression to convey your meaning. the majority of communications is nonverbal with an extremely small percentage of it being verbal. so even though deaf studies is under liberal arts major, it will still be useful in achieving as well as broadening my career
