The first step once every person or at least country is equipped with the money to start making changes is commit to the small stuff. This means recycle your paper, metal, class, and plastic. This is not hard, and you can even get a small amount of money back for some of your recycling. The government could be able to provide incentives for the people in the United States, and in other countries to get them to recycle. This could be as small as coupons to cash back. The next step is for manufacturing companies to quit producing items that will just break down in a few short years and rather start making things that are going to last along time and make them out of the correct materials. Plastic does not decompose but rather sits in a landfill for hundreds of years. We need to eliminate the use of plastic and replace it with a material that will last, and once it is no longer useable it can be recycled again. As a community there needs to be changes made with in each. Transportation needs to be eliminated as much as possible unless you think that it is economically feasible for everyone to drop their old car and spring for the even more expensive electric car. We would have less of a problem with switching from gas to electric if it was possible to find an inexpensive part or make it possible for people to trade in and not pay in full for an electric car. But other means of transportation would not be difficult, you just have to have a system set in place such as steam
What can we do to clean up? Familiarize yourself with what plastics can be recycled, and keep reusable plastics out of landfills. Bring your own containers or buy different products at stores. Keep reusable items on you, use a reusable bottle instead of a plastic bottle. Shopping in bulk is a way to reduce plastic waste. Cook more. Not only is it healthier, it doesn’t use excess containers or plastic cutlery. Gather together with friends or a community to collect trash and plastic. It involves people and teaches them the importance of the environment, how their plastic and trash affects it. Rethink, reduce, reuse, and
The first step that we must take is to start changing the way the plastic producers create their products. Nearly all single use plastic factories around the world do not take responsibility for their product being part of the issue, this mindset, however, ought to be the first thing we shall abandon. Once these manufacturers take responsibility, they must design a more environmentally friendly plastic that can be recycled or reused easier. Another solution to this problem would be taxing or billing the manufacturers of these harmful plastics; by calculating how much harmful chemicals are created by each plastic manufacturer, you could create a specific percentage to tax each factory for their products. By taxing these plastic manufacturers, it will form the idea of creating a more environmentally friendly formula for their plastics much more desirable than before. If the plastic companies were to adjust to these changes, we would be taking an extensive step toward creating a better, more clean,
Recycling is presently one of the most controversial topics, considering that while most individuals put across their support regarding the act the number of individuals who actually do something in order to recycle is much smaller. Many people are currently unable or unwilling to recycle properly because the process often requires a series of changes in one's life. It is thus essential for the authorities to provide educational programs meant to assist individuals in understanding why recycling is important and in learning how to recycle effectively. People need to accept the fact that the benefits of recycling will reflect on the future and that conditions are currently critical as a result of the fact that the masses are generally unacquainted with the importance of this process.
Over the years, recycling has been apart of the american community, but recycling has been costly and has been causing more pollution to the united states than recycling it self. I think that the recycling in the united states should be abolished because, the pollution produced by the collection trucks and the recycling process itself creates more emissions and it’s more expensive and takes more energy and water to recycle old paper than to cut down and process pine trees and then plant pine seedlings.
Have you ever seen the animated movie Wall-e? I saw this film when I was a kid and would recommend it to any of your little cousins or siblings. The movie is created by Pixar and shows the last of a series of little robots that were designed to clean up Earth (now deserted and basically one big junk pile). Humanity was out in space on massive ships, growing unhealthier as the days went on. Eventually, humanity returns to Earth and starts to rebuild. This is a very miserable and dystopian future that I’m sure none of us would like to see in our lifetimes. Nor for any of our future generations to see in theirs. You may be wondering if we’re already on the road to such a future right now. We are. Yet there is a simple solution to this issue that not enough of us are already practicing today. Recycling. To start there is one law that should be enacted immediately. U.S. citizens should be required to recycle.
How will I help our environment? I will be partnering up with Karlie Ramirez, we have decided on the 21st of October to head up to Giant Rock, located in Lucerne Valley. Over the years mankind has polluted our air drastically, consequently we throw trash on the ground and in our oceans. At worst is air pollution. Exhaust fumes, Radiation spill or nuclear accidents It creates an adverse effect on the overall environment. We put fumes and gases in our air on a daily base and How does this affect our environment? As some of us have seen It kills wildlife and is currently putting a hole in our Ozone Layer. Karlie and I will be heading to pick up trash, approximately for about 5 hours. Before we can move forward, there are a few steps we will need to complete before the 23rd of September. Moving Forward to our first step, will need to speak to our parent about purchasing a few items. Such as, trash bags, gloves and water. Moving on to our Second step, discussing where we will be disposing of all trash we pick up. When you make a point of doing everything you can to help your environment by recycling, your actions make you part of the solution rather than part of the problem. Our third step, talk to our parents about transportation and Location in Giant Rock. After these steps, Karlie and I will be ready to help our earth function and breathe, on the 21st of October. (Here we come Giant Rock!) Everyday items such as soda cans and plastic bottles can be deadly for unsuspecting wildlife.
America currently has a growing population of over 300 million people. Every day the average American produced 4.4 pounds of garbage. As a nation Americans produced over 200 million tons of waste in 2013. Only 34.4 percent of that waste was recovered. Over 65 percent of that garbage is left to rot and pollute the environment. Many other countries face the same epidemic. There are many ways Americans can reduce pollution and keep our planet cleaner, one for those ways for instance is recycling. Recycling defined is to treat or process used or waste materials, to make suitable for reuse. The process starts by knowing what to recycle and how. Understanding the effects and benefits of reprocessing can persuade people to make
We can start by recycling bottles, paper and all plastic within our own home separately from trash or be fined for not doing so. I think that the USA should ban the manufacturing and distribution of plastic bags and make it mandatory for consumer to carry recycle bags or have it available in store for purchase. All stores should charge for plastic bag and this will us to use recycle
Recycling has turned into an undeniably vital issue in the United States as both the populace and the measure of waste all the people who creates to keep on increasing. Municipal solid waste (MSW) incorporates the items that are thrown into the bins, for example, old furniture, tires, or yard clippings. As indicated by a study by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Municipal solid waste generation expanded from 2.68 to 4.34 pounds for per person on every day between 1960 and 2009. Americans created around 243 million tons of MSW in
A recent study by Nature Climate Change shows this ongoing problem is caused by “224 million more pounds being thrown out than previously thought,” suggesting too much recyclable items are being thrown out: “For every 100 pounds of trash we throw away, 35 pounds is paper” and although about 80% of goods and materials can be recycled, only 32% are actually being reused (Powell, EPA, McKinney). As reported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, “In 2013, Americans generated about 254 million tons of trash, and recycled and composted [only] 87 million tons of this material” (EPA). This again shows that a good amount of materials that can be recycled are more often being thrown into the trash. The EPA estimates that “we recycled and composted 1.51 pounds of our individual waste generation of 4.40 pounds per person per day ” in 2012 (EPA). That’s less than 30% of individually generated trash being
In 2012, Americans generated about 251 million tons of trash and recycled and composted almost 87 million tons of this material (“Municipal Solid Waste”). There are many ways to end our environmental crisis, such as reducing our amount of trash, recycling items, and reusing other items.
We, as a whole, have put a detriment on ourselves and our enviroment. The consequences of the industrial revolution and beyond are beginning to show. Our beautiful rolling hills and plains have become a place for us to dump our garbage. Our kin can no longer enjoy many of the places that the world has offered us. It is up to us to stop this process of destroying our enviroment. A simple tax would be a step in the right direction. A tax on plastic bags being used in the stores and markets would do many things, of which are, deterring people from using them, aiding in federal funds, and consequentially making people want to advance in their careers and job opportunities.
The United States is economy is based on a consumption driven model. Corporate law has more to do with lining shareholder pockets than environmental protection. Externalities have become a byproduct of doing business in the United States. Perhaps this is why economics has become an environmental issue as well as a financial one. The release of greenhouse gasses into the environment is increasing. The environmental impact of electronic goods is negatively affecting our ecosystem. From water, to farming, to the amount of trash we dispose of our consumption continues to impact our environment in negative ways; in the not so distant future the damage could become irreversible. Recycling helps a great deal, but, the only reasonable path back to a sustainable way of life must, by necessity, include less consumption.
Intro: Imagine a whole forest being cut down just to store our garbage. This can be stopped if we recycle. Deforestation is a major issue today. This is because man is using natural resources to fulfill his needs. The increase of these demands has led to increasing levels of destruction of our natural resources. These resources being limited, a day would probably arrive when we don't really have anything to turn towards. Think about all the trees that are being axed in the forests today. Our habits of wasting paper could be one of the million reasons that contribute
The way forward is regulating the industries on how they release their wastes to the environment that needs to be set at a standard rate that does no harm to the environment. For example when industries gases to the environment this leads to air pollution and the concentration that they release to the environment is set by regulatory companies. When they surpass this concentration levels the industries need to face penalties because the pollution is harmful to the environment and may cause respiratory diseases to people.
